Okay, we'll see if this works! The meeting is password-protected. I am sending the PW to ALL Patrons in second. I will have video enabled for everyone, but if it runs too slowly/glitchy, we could always move to audio-only if there is a 'next time.'

Join me Tuesday night on Zoom to discuss...whatever you'd like! But I'll have a few topics on the agenda in case we have that dreaded awkward silence!
We had a few Patreon chats back in 2018 I think, but it’s been a while, and it definitely slows down a chat by having to type all the answers so I thought I would ask this now.
I would limit it to just 5 people plus myself, in hopes that my wifi would be able to handle it. And the meeting would end after 40 min.
We could talk about anything CoG|HG related, anything you have been wondering about or just info/ideas/opinions you’d like to share. Writing, coding, marketing, sales,...

This has almost 5,000 new words, and it's a very 'actiony' update, wider than it is long. I hope y'all get the impression that your actions are really starting to matter more because they are!
I fully anticipate another update before the end of the month!

I know it is a very scary time around the globe, so I figured I would post the world's cutest puppy, which is our new mini schnauzer, Oskar. We figured we will have TONS of time these next few months for playing, potty training, etc., so we added him to our family this week!
Stuff that will happen this month:
1) At least one new CCH3 update
2) My reflections on Zip!'s release and where the series going
3) Another poll (I heard you loud and clear that Stoic gets the fir...

This update is the flight from New York to San Francisco. I've tested it thoroughly; it should be clean other than maybe some typos.
BUT if you find a bug please report it.
I've also made some tweaks based on forum feedback (I tweaked the mention of Savior's loyalty imprint/helmet stuff, I took away an Ouch modifier dur...
2020-03-15 17:10:04 +0000 UTC View PostI'm busy writing the first real action scene of CCH3 (Black Bullet scene doesn't count IMO, since it's for establishing choices) but after that, I'll be diving into some social and romance scenes.
Now all of the RO paths will get equal time, but some will likely be written before others. So WHO should I make sure is included in the first update with romance scenes?

At least spring is here in Kentucky, in the good ole US of A. (Sorry Mike Walter, my Canadian friend!)
What's in store here for March?
1) Another CCH update. I will notify you folks of updates first, and then I'll notify the folks on the cog forums.
2) I'll probably ask for suggestions re: potential Issue 9 covers. My gut tells me to somehow incorporate the MC's power boost, but it's impossible to actually depict the MC, so it's tricky! Mayb...

Monday, February 17th - CoG will likely create a teaser post on the CoG forums with my author interview and a demo of Zip! (first couple of chapters)

2020-02-16 18:21:11 +0000 UTC View PostI didn't get as much done as I would have liked, mostly due to various Zip! tasks and working on my website, but I did get to what I'd call the 'inciting incident' of Part 3. You'll see what I'm talking about when you play it.
Updates since last time:
1) Tweaked startup file to add more questions (for variables I need to track)
2) Fixed errors, including the Primary Stat errors in the last update
3) Reworked Stats screen to create sub-pages, including one for tracking ...
2020-02-16 18:01:24 +0000 UTC View PostMy February will be dominated by two things: 1) the next CCH3 update, and 2) the release of Zip! Speedster of Valiant City.
1) I expect the next CCH3 update to be posted the weekend of February 15th-16th. As always, feedback, bug spotting, etc., is appreciated.
2) Zip! is still scheduled for release on Feb 20th.
If you play it, I'd appreciate feedback here because I won't be getting many actual reviews on the platforms, no matter how well it performs. It will only be a...
2020-02-02 15:13:06 +0000 UTC View PostI've been thinking about rewards and extras I can offer your specktacular folks, other than early access to the CCH3 demo. Would anyone want to brainstorm possible cover ideas with me in March?
I anticipate finishing the Issue 9 draft with my March update. At that point, I'll be ready to send Karl Sia some ideas re: the Issue 9 cover. So it's still 1.5 months away, but if people are interested in brainstorming, I'd like to know!
The Dashingdon (hosting site) link to CCH3 is above. This is a private link so please don't share it. The demo is about a 15-minute read as it stands.
My goal is to update monthly, adding approximately 10,000 words per month.
Compared to the demo I launched in 2019, I am much happier with this one, as it jumps right into the action. Any comments and feedback will be appreciated! I will eventually make this link available to the CoG forums, but not for a while. I want to have a dec...

2020-01-09 18:39:42 +0000 UTC View PostWith the holidays, and with Zip! being in beta testing, and with me working to get at least a 10k-word CCH3 Issue 9 demo ready for you in January, I just won't have time to write a short story this month, so you won't be charged at the first of the year.
When I post the Issue 9 demo in mid-January, that will be a paid post, but still only at the $1 level.
Zip! is getting positive beta feedback, and I anticipate having final game files to CoG within 2 weeks. I'm anticipating a rele...
2019-12-22 15:12:54 +0000 UTC View PostAn insider tip for my patrons!
There will be a sticky thread on the CoG forums with details, if you’re interested!
The game is called “Zip!” where you play a speedster struggling with a mid-life crisis who must stop their arch-enemy’s scheme that threatens the entire city!
To manage expectations, I need to share that this is a small game (think superhero version of Choice of Dragon), about 41k words right now and should take an hour to play through with an average pl...
2019-12-11 17:42:16 +0000 UTC View PostOkay, the people have spoken/clicked on a poll option. 34 of 36 poll respondents indicated that they are okay with me shifting from monthly short stories to monthly CCH3 WiP links in 2020.
That's 94% of respondents, and considering that 94% of people rarely agree on anything, I am treating this as a consensus.
So December will be the last month, at least for a while, that I write a short story. Then, come January, 2020, I'll shift to posting a monthly CCH3 update in lieu of a stor...
2019-11-27 15:24:26 +0000 UTC View PostMy family situation has improved from earlier in the year, and I am getting back into a writing groove.
Because of that, I'm considering posting CCH3 updates here again soon. The idea would be that I post them here first, and then maybe 24-48 hours later, I post them on the CoG forums. That gives patrons first access while still giving me a broader group of people to supply me feedback, so it would seem to be a win/win!
Is that enough of a reward to earn your $1 per mo...

2019-11-23 14:54:23 +0000 UTC View PostI emailed CoG last night with a complete draft of my WiP's game files.
This secret project is "off the grid" at this point, meaning it won't show up on the CoG Upcoming Titles thread on the forums right now - that should change eventually.
It's a small game, one I was able to write/code solo in about 4.5 months. (July - mid-Nov)
Today, I'm taking a breather from this project and working on a CCH short story. I'm also messing around with CCH3's outline structure....

There will be no short story this month, so no charges when the first of Nov rolls around.
I am taking a hiatus from FB and Twitter to focus on getting my new superhero story done.
I love the engine for this story, and plan to “put Talon City on top of it” this winter. Frankly, and expanded version of the engine could probably work for CCH3 with a few tweaks.
All this means I am focusing more and more on stronger establishing and testing...

For the past three months, I've been working on a short superhero game. It's not CCH-related, but I think you'll find the vibe is similar.
Why do this? you might ask.
Well, I met with some of the fine CoG staff in June when I attended NarraScope back in June, and a discussion was had about a possible superhero game in the spirit of "Choice of Dragon:" short, punchy...

So I'm writing in a flash fiction competition sponsored by NYC Midnight. Entries are limited to 1,000 words, and must be written in a 48-hour window. Basically, you get your prompt at midnight on a Friday (they give you a required genre, setting, and object that must appear), and you have to turn in a finished product by Sunday at midnight.
Almost 4,000 people enter, and prizes are fairly limited (only the top 20 or so get anything) but you get to participate in Challenges 1 and 2 no ma...

2019-09-18 11:25:22 +0000 UTC View PostI'm glad I did this "soft release" for the contest here, because I always forget a few details!
A few points of clarification:
1) Please keep your entries short! Limit your entry to a MAX of 250 words, something that can be read in a minute at most! Treat it as flash fiction!
2) RULE CHANGE - Please write your entry in story form, either in first person or third person POV. The more I thought about it, I realized that...

I've decided to share the flash fiction story I wrote last month for the NYC Midnight flastion fiction contest!
I'm waiting for this story, titled "The World's Most Dangerous Fly," to be scored by the judges. I won't learn my score until just a few days before Round 2 of the contest starts, so I'm a bit anxious and trying to stop second-guessing myself.
