So...myself and Jeremy have just arrived at the destination of documentary series #2 - Dallas, Texas. We're shooting a bunch of interviews over the next two days.
Watch the video, and let me know what you think.
AND DON'T TELL ANYONE! I'll tweet about it publicly over the next few days.
Here it is, part two! Our first set of documentaries is now live. Almost an hour telling the story of Psyonix and Rocket League! I am so tired I barely had the energy to crawl out of bed to type this. The release schedule for this was way more frantic than I would have liked but what's most important is both videos show what Noclip is all ...
Our first documentary is now live. You made this happen. You funded our flights, you helped get us in the door, you inspired our late nights of editing. This is for you.
I hope, more than anything, that this lives up to your expectations. This is the first of many Noclip documentaries, and so the only way is up. But ...
I'm gonna keep this short and let the video speak for itself. Before I tweet this out I wanted you all to see it first. Thank you all for helping us do this, I hope the trailer makes you proud. Both videos are landing next week. Let me know what you think in comments.
What a week it's been. I just got back from 13 days of flying, meetings, filming, patron meet-ups & interviews and am already deep into editing the Rocket League docs. It's insanely busy right now, but I wanted to take a few minutes to give you all an exclusive update on what's going on and when you can expect the first docs. Let's get to it!
Rocket League Documentary Series Release Dates
A trailer for the documentary series will be going live ...
Hey folks! Apologies if I ramble I'm writing this from a Chili's (is that how you spell it? The logo is just a bloody chili) in Oakland airport. It's the second one I've been here in 12 hours - Greg Miller was right about going solo invokes a lot of flying. I'm on my way to Austin - a trip that was originally to watch the F1 with my friend Drew and get some respite from my day job - which since going solo has evolved into a franker-work trip involving appearances on some Rooster Teeth podcasts a...
The time has come to reveal the focus of our first set of documentary shorts to the people that made it happen. This video is for your eyes only so please don't tweet it out. I won't be telling the wider world until we arrive at the studio on Monday.
We;re only days away from announcing the first Noclip Documentary. So in this final Q&A before we go shoot the first documentary, I field questions on Brexit, classic games I missed out on, the ultimate gaming site, so far and much more!
Noclip turns a month old tomorrow so I thought I'd post a video talking about everything that's been going on. From how I've been spending my time, to the projects coming up and what we've invested the money on so far.
If you're a patron you'll likely know a lot of this stuff already, but after a month of wo...
Here's the first of another Q&A double-feature coming this week. On this episode I talk about some of the new equipment we've ordered, upcoming projects, future meet-ups in a city near you and much more. Thanks for all your questions! Expect another Q&A with more of your questions around the second half o...
It's that time again! October has a lot going on with our first doc shoot, launching two live shows and the re-launch of my opinion show. It's also our second month of funding, so I'm sure you have questions about what we're investing in. Whatever you're questions, I can't wait to answer them!
Put your questions in here and I'll answer as many of them as possible in a Q&A video later this week. Also, just to remind you, if you have quest...
First of all thank you so much for your patronage the past few weeks. That so many of you have stayed patrons throughout this incredibly busy building phase means a lot to me. October is where all this behind-the-scenes work bears fruit. So let's get to it.
The First Doc!
Mid October myself and Jeremy fly somewhere for three days to shoot the first Noclip doc. It will be at least a two part series (a third eleme...
As you are probably aware, we booked out first doc at the start of the week and I'm hard at work setting up the new livestreaming shows and the new opinion show. That's all to say next month is when Noclip and my YouTube channel really takes off content wise. I'll have information on what the new show(s) are called ...
I just posted this video update to my personal YouTube channel. It's mostly for folks who aren't patrons and haven't had the inside scoop, but some of you might find it interesting. Basically summarizing the past 2 weeks and looking ahead to what's next now that we have the first doc booked.
Two weeks ago today, thousands of you became patrons of Noclip. People around the world tweeted excitement about the project and subscribed to our fledgling YouTube channel . The support for Noclip and confidence in me has been truly humbling. While I've mostly used this Patreon page to post patron-only Q&A's, Google Hangouts, and behind-the-scenes videos, I wanted this post to go out to everyone. Because at the end of the day, the Noclip documentary shorts b...
So this could work perfectly or be a total s**t-show, but there's only one way to find out! Below is the link to the Google Hangout. I've set it up on my corporate google account so it should allow up to 25 people to chat, with more available to type if they want to.
What Time? 12PM Pacific Time / 3PM Eastern Time / 8PM UK Time
Where? Expect a follow-up post with a link & details within half an hour before the scheduled broadcast.
Okay folks, so we're going to take a swing at the Google Hangout this Sunday! I say take a swing because THERE ARE MORE OF YOU IN THIS TIER THAN ANTICIPATED. Google Hangout only supports 25 people at once. I'm currently looking for a cheap alternative that w...
So as a bonus to all my $5 and up patrons, I've decided to put together a few behind-the-scenes features showing how Noclip is coming together. In this first episode I bring my camera along for a day of random appointments; recording a podcast at my old job, having lunch with my Patreon liaisons, and catc...
First of all thank you so much for backing Noclip so early. By putting us over all our initial goals it's allowed us to be a lot more daring in the projects we're booking. Though nothing is confirmed yet, we have multiple week-long shoots on the horizon which wouldn't have been possible without your amazing support, so thank you. You folks are my A-team. My big hitters. My 5-tool players.....Sorry I watched Moneyball again last night. (Oaklan...
As promised here is the second patron-only Q&A this week. On this edition I take questions on how we're going to release each project, my time filming at Blizzard, my home studio, what my parents think of all this and my goals to retain patrons over the long term.
Thanks for being the first ever patrons of Noclip. You folks will always have a special place in my heart as we grow over the coming weeks and months.
Thanks so much for joining and accepting your $5 (or up) tier. As promised here is the first of many Q&A videos you should expect hitting your feed over the course of each month. In fact there were so many questions I'm posting a second one on Sunday (and there will be one next week too).
On this edition I talk about the idea behind Noclip, projects I'm hoping to tackle in the future, and what the past week has been like. If you want to ask a question make sure yo...
So the past few days have been pretty hectic. In a good way. And for those not keeping score on Twitter, I thought it best to give you a heads up on all that's been going on.
Appearances:The PR train was going hell for leather the first half of this week. I was delighted to be invited onto a few podcasts to chat about Noclip and generally ramble about the state of games. If you're interested you can catch archives here:
So I'm going to record the first Q&A video (for $5 Patrons and up) tomorrow and just wanted to open up the floor to take questions from you folks. I've tried to cover as much of the logistical, financial and creative sides as possible in our stream yesterday, and on the various podcasts I've been hitting. But I wanted to quickly create the opportunity for you to ask me directly for the first Q&A video.
So if you have any questions, please put them in the comme...
Less than 24 hours (in fact about 1 minute before we hit it) after launching this Patreon, we hit the last goal I had for it. A pipe dream! Something I had put on with wishful thinking. A target to aim for over the next few weeks and months. Wow.
Thank you all so much for trusting me and believing in this project. With this much funding it's going to be possible to buy international tickets and hotels abroad to tell stories that happen around the world. It also allows us a gre...
Wow! So we've already hit the first goal! And the project has been up for 10 minutes. This was not expected! I'm just relieved I finished editing this blooper reel last night. Honestly, it's not the strongest blooper reel in the world - I've spent the past 4 months going on jogs and imagining what I'd say if I started my own thing. But hopefully you get an insight into the creative process behind something like this. Basically two nerds with a big camera (Jeremy covered in a tarp so he could see...
First of all, thank you so much for joining me on this journey. I've been wanting to focus on independent short form docs about games for years, an...
