SSFF Patreon Podcast #7: Vacation Flirtation

We're back from vacation and making a few changes! We talk a bit about how the tiers have changed and why we changed them in the first place. We also talk a bit about games we've been playing, like Resident Evil 4 and Undertale.

Thanks everyone for supporting us and we'll have some updates on videos soon!

Reward tiers are updated!

Hi everyone,

I just went through and updated the new tiers for the Patreon!

If you are in the $2 tier, you should now have access to our Discord! Please comment below or message us if you are not able to get into Discord. It should automatically give you access. I can also walk people setting it up if you do not have discord yet!

If your old tier was removed, please edit your pledge to select a new reward tier. That way you'll have access to things like the activity f...

Changes to SSFF’s Patreon

Hi everyone!

As most of you know, we took some time off this March in order to give ourselves a break, but also to refocus and think about our goals for the year. We realized that we needed to rethink the way we structure our Patreon–not only to give ourselves more time to work on videos, but also to make our Patreon more open to everyone.

With that in mind, we are planning on modifying our tiers, lowering the prices for some things and getting rid of other things all tog...

A Man & His Machine: The Story of Halo 2600 Homebrew | SSFF

Hello Supporters!

We're still very much on our vacation but we do have a new video for you as promised. We released the audio version of this video last week, and here it is in Full Video Mode. It's something a little different for SSFF so we hope you enjoy it.

This will be our only video for this month, we're still on our break. It feels like we've been on break for a really long time but it's only been a week! I guess we really needed some time away.

As always, thank ...

Goin' On "Vacation"

Hello supporters!

We've been talking about it for a while now and we're not sure when the "right time" will appear but Grace and I are going on a vacation from SSFF productions. After we finish the Ed Fries Halo 2600 video, we will be taking a break from video production for the rest of March, perhaps even a week or two into April. This will include live streams and blogs, but Bad N Rad and Hot Scoops giveaways for the month of March will still be going out. We'll still be popping into the dis...

Next Video Audio Preview

Plug in your headphones and get ready for a preview of our next video! We sat down with Ed Fries, former Xbox Game Studios Vice President and developer of the Halo Combat Evolved de-make for the Atari 2600, Halo 2600. The finished video will be out next week but for now enjoy this audio version!

Also, March's No Chump Zone Podcast will be up next week as well.

Enjoy!

Media Consumption Blog - 3/3/18

The SSFF Media Consumption Blog - Ultra Late Edition!

I will get this thing on Saturdays one of these week, I promise. The entire premise of these blogs is that I (Derek) am a slow writer and I need more practice in that area of video production. But surprise, surprise, I’m having trouble! So bear with me! And Grace is helping out with this week’s blog, which I'm thankful for, so I’ll let her go first.

Delightful Video Game Departures

Hello supporters!!

We got a hot 'n fresh new video for y'all! It's in the style of a Punching Weight but something that can stand on its own, Delightful Departures.

This was a fun project because it gave me an excuse to finally talk about Metroid Prime and Mega Man Legends without having to do a massive, deep dive video. Hey, you know we love doing deep dives but smaller-scale videos are like this are nice change of pace and good for production moral. I'd also been swallowed up Phantasy ...

Media Consumption Blog 2/18/18 (UPDATE)

It’s a new year but we haven’t had a Media Consumption Blog since December! At first I told myself “eh, we’re just taking a small break”, but it’s now crossed over to just being lazy. If you’re new to the Patreon, this blog is basically our output for movies, games, television, basically anything we’ve consumed but haven’t yet, or don’t plan on making a video for. We used to post these on Fridays, I’ve decided to move them to Saturdays, yet this one is a little late going u...

Gamecube GBA Link Cable | Punching Weight [SSFF]

Another video coming in hot!

The N64 mouse video was a surprise hit so wanted to tackle another Nintendo peripheral. I don't expect this one to be quite as big, because I think most people just didn't know the N64 had a mouse, a lot of people just forgot about the GC Link Cable.

Now for we have a few new faces for this month! First off, welcome and thanks so much for the support! Second, some of you may remember The Evil Within 2 video that went up last week. That video was actually part...

Punching Weight: Tim Follin

Hi everyone!

This is the first video I've led the charge on since I took a break from school. It's actually a project I've wanted to work on for a while now, and I am very glad to finally have a finished product.

This video was pretty difficult for me to write because it features two things I'm no expert on: vintage gaming computers & music! Seriously, I'm horrendously tone deaf, so I'm not sure what possessed me to write this video... besides Tim Follin's awesome catalog.

Behind the Scenes: The World of Clockwork Pixel

Hi everyone!

Luke Green, aka Clockwork Pixel, is the man responsible for our logos, into animations, and a host of other animations we've made over the years. We decided to sit down with him and talk about his latest project, Purgatory Dreams, as well as his process for making animations. We also spend about 400 hours talking about horror movies because we can't help ourselves.

We normally keep our activity feed private, but we decided to open this up to everyone so they can share in all...

The Evil Within 2 is an Incredible Sequel | Review & Discussion ft. Critbox [SSFF]

Hello Supporters!

First off, welcome new supporters! A couple new faces around here and we can't thank you enough for the support!

All the way back in November last year, we hooked up with a local friend and shot a review & discussion video for The Evil Within 1 & 2. Two and a half hours of footage was shot on three cameras and recorded on two mics, it was a new style of video for the channel. It was a challenging shoot but the actual edit pushed me further outside of my comfort ...

Post Script Podcast Ep. 4: The Evil Within, N64 Mice & Year End Wrap

Hi everyone!

December was the first month that we rolled in our No Chump Zone Q&A with the Post Script Podcast. It's been A WHILE since the last one, but since we are now treating the No Chump Zone as a live version of the Podcast, we should have a new one every month.

We're recording a new one tomorrow at 2PM with our No Chump Zone tier. Respond here with any questions you might have and we'll talk about it on the show!

Thanks for the support,

Silent Hill 2 Historical Society Breakdown | Gettin' Super Nerdy [SSFF]

Hey Champs!

One last 2017 video for ya! We teased this video on our Halloween video and here it is, a deep dive into what may be the greatest area in all of horror video games, the Silent Hill Historical Society.

It's a long one, over an hour, so give it a few minutes to finish rendering.

Thanks for helping make 2017 the best year in the history of the channel and another radical year on Patreon. We've got big plans for 2018 and we'll share them soon!

Nintendo 64 Mouse | Punching Weight [SSFF]

Hello Supporters!

When you're curious about a certain video game peripheral and you can't hardly find any information about it online, there's only one thing you can do: make your own video!

Got a hot fresh new episode of Punching Weight and it's on one of the most unnecessary gaming peripheral's ever made, the elusive Nintendo 64 mouse. What games actually use the damn thing? We do the heavy research and find out!

This was kind of a different video for us, we had to shoot a lot of...

Behind the Scenes: Derek Loves Tools

Hi everyone!

Here's a behind the scenes video I made back when we got our new bookcase. Let's just say putting it together was a struggle, but Derek was more than prepared for the challenge.

We will hopefully have a new video up here for you guys today or tomorrow. Thanks for all the support!

No Chump Zone Tier Update

Hello everyone!

We have a live Q&A for our patrons coming up today at 2pm PST, and I wanted to announce an update to the way our No Chump Zone tier worked.

We've decided to fold the Live Q&A within the No Chump Zone tier into the Post Script Podcast we've occasionally done on this Patreon, basically as a way to bring more content to everyone.

How it'll work is that Derek and I will still do an exclusive livestream for the No Chump Zone tier, but that will then be edit...

The Evil Within is a Fascinating Disappointment | Review & Discussion [SSFF]

Hello Supporters,

November proved to be a very busy but ultimately unproductive month.

A few weeks back we shot a review / discussion video for both The Evil Within 1 & 2. It was an elaborate shoot for us, with three cameras and two separate microphones. We shot two and a half hours of footage with just under 2 hours of genuine discussion. The plan was to condense the entire thing into a 30 minute video but it proved to be a more difficult task than predicted and we realized I ...

SSFF Media Consumption Blog 11/17/17

Hi everyone! Back on the grind again, here's a look at all the media we've been gobbling up this week.

The Good Place

I tend to stay away from shows that seem too gimmicky, which made even picking up an episode of The Good Place a tough sell. This show is set in the afterlife, following the misadventures of Eleanor (Kristen Bell) after she realizes someone made a mistake.

Evil Within 1 & 2 Video Preview

Hello Skeleton Crew Supporters!

We're working on an Evil Within 1&2 video and we're trying something a little different for this video. We invited our friend Javi, who knows his stuff when it comes to horror games, over to our apartment and filmed a discussion. We shot it with 3 cameras and recorded over 2 hours of footage! We even got lapel microphones, we're so professional!

It wont be a totally improvised discussion though. We created a basic outline of topics to discuss and prepa...
