Patreon Pin Up 11/14/23: Ashley Graham

Leave it to me to hop on the fan art bandwagon several months past a character's peak in popularity amiright?  I picked up the Resident Evil 4 Remake when it came out early this year. I enjoyed what I played, but for one reason or another I just kinda burned out on it a little over halfway through at the time.

Cut to this weekend when I was attempting to clear up precious hard drive space on my PS5. I found I couldn't bring myself to delete RE4, so I figured I may as well give it another go. And it hooked me again! Turned out I just needed a little break, I suppose. 

Ashley may be the most changed character in the remake? Seems that way to me, anyway. She was basically the teen anime girl trope in the original RE4, but this time around she's presented more like how one might think a traumatized kidnapping victim might actually behave in a parasite zombie nightmare cult scenario. Not really better or worse in my opinion, just different. Plus I may be imagining this but she seems less of a pain to keep safe in the gameplay now. Though in the story if you take a shot every time Leon saves her only for her to be re-kidnapped five minutes later you'll be passed out on the floor before you finish this thing.

Millie Blows Off Steam Part Two

As the title implies, this commission for Nomadic Wanderer is a continuation of part one that you can find here. This canonical story revolves around Millie cutting loose at one of Jane's parties after a frustrating day. You can find the full story written by Kaldonis attached to this post. EDIT: Shrank Elianna and added some bystanders to maker her look less like she was hovering above the club. 

Elianna is true to her word! But how long will she last once inside? :O

I don't have a lot else to add on this one, other than that Liz's dialog in panel three is meant to be a subtle reminder that Morgan has a history of being one of the few cast members that can rub Liz the wrong way. Also Bria's breasts are photobombing the composition there and that cracks me up.

TRW Strips #108

After coming down with such a hard case of writer's block on the last strip I attempted, (an incident that I believe was the catalyst that led to my crippling eye strain) I knew that I'd have to shake things up with the next strip, if only for my own health and safety for crying out loud. 

And so the next few strips will revolve around a canonical side story! This takes place shortly after Millie and Chloe broke into the school, but before Millie's current eye-twitching/dark circled state in the comic.

I personally look forward to the challenge of seeing how much storytelling I can reasonably pull off while limiting myself to the use of the same cut-out strip assets of the characters and simple/reused backgrounds. Anyhow happy Monday, gang. Hope you like the strip!

Vampire Lingerie Switch

You're going to see a suspicious amount of rapid-fire commissions from me in the coming week or two. I normally only ever take on one job at a time, but thanks to a perfect storm of variables (eye injury, a canon story taking extra time to write, a busy client on a conflicting schedule that wasn't able to approve updates quickly, etc.) I actually ended up with a handful of jobs rotating to and from the back burner that should all be coming together in the relatively near future. I might just finish that 2022 waiting list before the end of 2023 after all. 

But for now: Vamp Switch! This was a fun idea from our own Switchverse Games background artist, Siren Sleeps. In attempt to make Switch look more vampiric, I toned down her usual cartoon shark grin and just focused on her canines. I think it's a good look for her. Hope you like how she turned out, I had fun making this one! 

Cross Promo: Evil Inc. After Dark

This month's Cross Promo is the erotic superhero series, Evil Inc After Dark, by Brad Guigar! I'm personally especially jazzed about this one because Brad quite literally helped write the book on how to make web comics. More specifically, he cowrote How to Make Webcomics, a book that was invaluable to me and helped shape the foundation of what would eventually become my whole career. 

But as for the comic itself! For the promo, Brad has shared a complete short comic with me here today, and you'll find it attached below along with where to find more of his work! One arguably unrealistic element of my comics is that nobody is ever in any rush to cover up nudity (or clean off various fluids for that matter.) But in this case I think it actually fits. Bria is an exhibitionist. She wouldn't care about a nip slip! XD

Meanwhile I hope you can glean some entertainment from zooming in on Millie's mystery board. Kal and I had fun putting that together. Also Morgan's back! Feels like ages since the last time I got to draw her. In any case I hope you like the page, and that what these three might get up to in this chapter has your interest!

Abbey wins the spooktacular Discord poll! One could reasonably argue that this isn't so much a costume as it is letting her true self shine through. How would you feel if she showed up at your campfire? XD

Not much more to add here other than that I'm really happy with how the lighting on this one turned out and that my eyes are doing well enough today that I was able to finish this thing without discomfort, which is a big plus. Hope you all have a good Halloween!

Thank you all so much for waiting! I'll talk a bit about the page first before recounting my current eyeball power levels for those who are interested.

This is a page for Liz I've wanted to get to for a long time. For some reason, I've always been drawn to "chill" characters who have a deeply emotional side. And outside of Liz's ending in the visual novel and perhaps a bit in the side content like the Rein Con from a couple years ago, that aspect of her has yet to really be presented until now.

Not to downplay that this is certainly a big Bria page as well. If there was any doubt before, it's spelled all the way out here that she's aware she's pregnant. My hope here is that in the bottom panel she doesn't come off as impatient or annoyed with Liz. Bria's just out of her depth here with someone she doesn't know terribly well and is frustrated that the one person who could likely cure Liz with a hug is mysteriously absent as of late. Also, everything on Millie's board will be detailed in the next page.

And for those interested in my journey through ocular peril, here goes. I didn't quite make it through Patrick Stewart's book, as I reached a point where I just couldn't take it anymore. Some highlights are that actress Vivian Leigh was an awesome person, he hated Star Trek Nemesis as much as the rest of us, and he ditched his wife the instant he got famous. More notably, he requested a love interest for Picard to be written into the show in the first season, and literally that actress in THAT episode was the homewrecker.  He continued his penchant for affairs with younger women all the way up until his current wife, who is 40 years younger than he is.

But I digress. Eventually it became clear to me that no amount of screen avoidance was actually healing my eyes the way it has when this has happened in the past. On Tuesday, after several frustrating phone calls, I finally found an urgent care provider in Florida that accepted my Washingtonian health insurance. In the end, it seems that I gave myself eyestrain so hard that my eye got infected somehow. (If I had to guess a catalyst, I'd say it was my getting writer's block on Monday's strip and just staring at the unmoving screen for hours trying to come up with something.) Also, just a little PSA here: Clear Eyes Maximum Redness Relief drops can actually make your eyes fucking WORSE for no reason and they frankly shouldn't be available over the counter according to my doctor! Good to know!

Anyhow they gave me a tube of goo that's ghoulish to apply but worked like a charm. By Wednesday afternoon, I could look at screens again without my eyes watering. And today, I'm almost completely back to normal.

I've had to take sick weeks before, but even when I had covid I could still comfortably watch movies and play video games to pass the time for crying out loud. In any case, thank you again for bearing with me. I'm back to work and hitting it hard, and I hope you like the page!

An Update on my Horrific Eyeballs.

Short version: I'm on forced vacation for the time being. I won't be back until Thursday with the TRW update.

First off, I'd like to extend my thanks to everyone who wished me well on my previous post. As I close night three of being effectively blind, as every backlit surface I dare to look at for more than thirty seconds turns my eyes into twin waterfalls, I've started making some adjustments to get by. The brightness has been cranked down on everything in my vicinity, and I wear sunglasses indoors like Cyclops. Please let me know when my hot telepathic redhead will be assigned.

The first two nights were brutal. If it's one thing I rarely am, it's bored. I normally exist in one of two states: work or play, which are both equally engaging to me. Fun fact: both are also contingent on my ability to SEE.

So what could I do to pass the time in my weakened state? Audiobooks seemed the obvious choice. They can last for endless hours without my ever having to stare at a searing bright screen to search for new material. So I settled into Patrick Stewart's memoir; Making it So.

I do not recommend this book. Not if you're a Star Trek fan, anyway. If this book was a meal, the giant glazed ham would be Shakespearean theatrical productions and the mint afterwards would be Star Trek. Seriously it's like 18 hours into a 24-hour-read before he gets to being cast in TNG. You would have to be blind like me not to see your own tits being bored off of you in real time.

As of now, I feel like I'm finally doing slightly better than I have been. I can look at screens again without pain, if only in short bursts. You know what drives me the craziest of all? A new Spiderman AND Mario game came out Friday, and I can't play either one of them because you need functional eyes for that.

This weekend, whether you're swinging over New York or wall-kicking as an elephant, I ask that you pour one out for the blind golem who envies you. Thank you for your patience!

Reinbach messed up his eyes and now the page is running late.

It's been a rough week for the golem, folks. I'm no stranger to eye strain, but I've never had anything like this before. When I woke up today it felt like the light was punching me in my eyeballs every time I opened them. I'm no doctor, but I think it's quite vital that I take a break from backlit screens of any kind for at least a day or two. 

I apologize for the delay. I'll be back at it as soon  as I am able. 

Patreon Mini Pin Up: Parker Valentine

So what happens when you make a strip, consider it finished, then work on other projects for the rest of the day, and only at the eleventh hour realize the strip that seemed fine hours ago is in fact so lame you'd be embarrassed to post it on the internet? And you can't think of any other ideas? And also you can't delay it a day without falling behind schedule for the whole week? Asking for a friend. 

The strip I spent several fruitless hours staring at trying to come up with entertaining dialog for involved Parker dressing up as Jill Valentine for Halloween. Once I finally had to admit there was no salvaging the concept within the time I had available, I thought I could at least make a mini pin up based on the costume so I'd have something to show for today.

So what did I learn? I learned that waking up on Monday with no idea what the strip will be and just figuring something out before the deadline is no longer a viable workflow. From now on, I start the strips on Sunday.  In the meantime, I hope you like how Parker turned out!

Nina Sketch

I figure I may make these random sketches a regular thing if they keep going over well. This time it's Nina from my favorite indie game of the year: 30XX.

30XX is, in my opinion, the closest thing to a true Mega Man X revival we're ever going to get. I mean, the two playable heroes are just barely legally distinct versions of X and Zero and that pretty much sets the tone of the game's presentation. But it stands on its own with online co-op and an insanely addictive roguelike gameplay loop. And the soundtrack is a serious banger if you're into chiptunes.

Anyhow this isn't a sponsored post (I can't imagine why no one has reached out to me for that yet lol.) I just wanted to plug a lesser-known game I had a lot of fun with AND get to draw a topless immortal robot being blasted in the face by a giant dick. My task is complete.

This right here is likely the most amount of blood you'll ever see me draw in the entire comic. I don't generally like drawing violence (especially if women are involved) but I thought her hand had to look at least moderately hurt or this whole page would be unlikely to land as intended. 

I put a lot of consideration into how someone like Liz would handle a heavy dose of unexpected bad news. In the end, I settled on the old staple of "bottles up emotions only to erupt over something trivial." She was going to break something, that much I knew from the start. Her dad is a hulk-monster after all. I thought it fitting to see some of that in Liz when she's genuinely distressed. 

But what do you think of the page? Is this a bit too serious for TRW? I try to avoid inflicting tonal whiplash if I can, and I'm counting on you guys to stop me if I start to drift in that direction. I hope you look forward to some Liz/Bria bonding in any case!

The sudden scene transition is a common device in most forms of visual media. Yet whenever I try to do it between pages, I often leave readers feeling like they missed a page somewhere. The solution? Have the change take place on a single page rather than between them! 

It's admittedly not a perfect solution. Not for me, anyway. I try to close each page with something punchy if I can, and instead the final panel is taken up with the task of saying "okay, we're over here now." Not exactly punchy, but the hope is that I've managed to cultivate some suspense as to what will happen next in place of that.

TRW Strips #107

My take on Millie is that whether she's aware of it or not, she likes a challenge. She keeps getting attached to people who would be difficult to form a relationship with for one reason or another. As for Elianna, I debated early on whether she should be bisexual along with the other 90% of the female cast. She's supposed to be the prude, after all. Wouldn't it make sense for her to find lesbian attraction to be deviant? In the end I considered that somebody can be really prudish about one thing, (rampant sex and perceived moral decay in Ellie's case) but it doesn't have to define their entire personality. That's how many people I know in real life are anyway. I think we all know somebody who is chill and open-minded but there are conversation topics you just avoid around them or they go berserk.  That's what I was aiming for with Elianna.

Patreon Pin Up 9/25/23: Chun Li

Chun Li beats Juri Han in this months Discord poll! It was a landslide I didn't see coming, actually. It felt like Juri fan art was everywhere when Street Fighter 6 launched, but either you can't go wrong with the classics or my voters aren't as into feet overall. XD

I've drawn plenty of Street Fighter girls over the years and always had a fondness for the franchise and its legacy, but holy crap, SF6 is my favorite game in the series by far. Maybe even my favorite fighting game ever. 

One big reason is the introduction of what the game calls "modern" control mode. If you've heard me talk about SF in the past, you've heard me lamenting that the button input combinations in previous games are like riddles my thumbs don't know how to answer. An SF fight for me is less about timing and battle strategy than it is about watching my character flail around wildly as I desperately try to pull off my triple-bar special right before I receive my inevitable ass-whupping. Modern controls map all your supers to one button like Smash Bros and suddenly I can actually win against the computer even on higher difficulty levels. 

So boom. One major problem solved. But another one is that in most SF games, the single-player content is a bit lacking. SF6, on top of having a whole-ass feature complete fighting game, comes packaged with essentially an open world action rpg that I would have happily paid for separately. I gained countless hours of entertainment picking fights with random passerby NPCs alone. Had the nerve to walk past me while wearing a silly hat in Metro City? Prepare for a savage beating, good sir. 

This story mode doesn't have what I'd call a gripping narrative, but it won me over with the charm of exploring the world of Street Fighter and Final Fight in a more tangible way than any game has allowed before. Encountering the legacy characters in the wild and training under them is also a hoot, because you have the option to butter them up dating sim-style and learn more about their personalities. Did you know Chun Li is a competitive sharpshooter? Or that Cammy is obsessed with cats? I sure didn't. Plus little things like Ryu's first attempts at texting or Dhalsim trying to understand the concept of mild curry are entertaining as hell to longtime fans like me. 

I'm at the end of the blog and I just realized I forgot to explain the pin up. In the game, Chun Li teaches an outdoor Kung Fu class and every time I walked by it I had a scenario pop into my head where the best students get to bukkake her at the end of the day because I have a problem. Hope you like how this idea turned out in the pin up, and play this game if you were on the fence about trying it! :)

Like many pages that end up running a little late, I waffled around a bit on what the content would be. An early raft leaned more heavily into the NTR angle, with the only dialog being the voicemail from Mandi's husband playing over the sex itself. In the end I found that idea a bit abrasive for this particular scene. A friend of mine recently reminded me that one facet of a good cheating scene is when the woman involved drops the last of her reluctance and succumbs to the pleasure. That's what I decided to cap off the sex with here; the focus on Mandi's plight as a bored/sexually unsatisfied housewife who was just dying for an "O." 

Casey and the Twins Part Two

Hey gang I'm pulling an all-nighter on TRW so it may be running a few hours later than usual. In the meantime I hope you like this commission for Mr. Bug starring Casey and the Carter Twins! This one is a follow up to their previous job, included here. As much as I enjoy canonical commissions, I think what-if scenarios like this can be just as fun. After all, how else would I get to draw Casey getting willingly DP'd? Hope you like this one as much as I do, and I'll be back in the middle of the night with a new comic page! 

TRW Strips #106

This strip probably only makes sense if you've been following the comic long enough to know who Sister Theodora is. Like Mandi, she was also a one-off character who surprised me by blowing up in popularity with my readers. I dare say Mandi might have her beat though. This round goes to cheating milfs with huge asses I guess. XD

Anyhow I thought of Holly and Kristina here because as like-chasers engaged in an ongoing popularity contest, this seems like the kind of thing they would take note of. Hope you like the strip!

This is one of those weeks where I don't have too much to add in this space. I'm just curious as to what you guys think of this turn of events here. And for those of you who were looking forward to seeing how Switch is going to handle all this, you won't be waiting long now. 

The Final Spin

And so we come to the end of this summer TRW story! If you enjoyed the ride let me know. I might do a teachers/parents version of this scenario in the future if the interest is there. 

Before the party, Jane had workshopped some ideas for a climactic "final spin" with Lydia. She wanted something epic to cap off the game and make the night extra memorable. Jane's idea was that whoever the bottle landed on in the final spin would have "SLUT" written on their head in permanent marker (something she had endured herself and was always eager to inflict on others,) and then have to fuck every last player of the game, no, the entire party! And the whole thing would be filmed and posted on FuckWall for everyone to see! 

Jane was tingling with anticipation at seeing one of her classmates so sexually debased, but Lydia was quick to dump a nice big bucket of ice water on the idea. 

Lydia reminded Jane that lately this exact type of scheme had been blowing up in her face with alarming regularity. She told Jane that the final spin had better not be anything she wouldn't want to do herself, because Lydia was willing to bet money it would be Jane who the bottle landed on. Jane scoffed that Lydia was just trying to ruin her fun and lamented how there would likely be over a dozen players, if not more. What were the odds that Jane herself would be the target of the final spin? 

After the final spin, as Jane found herself on her knees sucking the cocks of just three other players with a forehead mercifully clear of permanent marker, she was thankful she had listened to Lydia this time.

I worried that Mandi's dialogue in that bottom left panel felt a little unnatural or overtly expository. I feel like it needed to be there for the sake of pacing though. We're three weeks into this scene now. I think it was time for readers to find out what Mandi's relationship to Vincent was. 

So! Vincent is banging his sister in-law. I hope this scene is keeping your interest, and that you're looking forward to seeing how Switch reacts to all this when the dust settles.

How hard Casey has latched onto Raina is one of those things that I hope doesn't seem too far from out of left field should it come up in the comic. It has admittedly come up a couple of times now in canonical commissions and strips over the years, but I feel like I should try and sneak at least a mention of it into the main story as soon as I can swing it all the same.
