Can't wait!

The holidays are wonderful and we're loving having the kids onboard. They just love the Lazy Gecko. We can't wait until the summer when they're with us for much longer and we can go to far off places together! We also can't wait for our upcoming passage to the Bahamas! As of now we're thinking a passage to Bimini and then to the Exumas to start off. We will see!!

Our autopilot!!

This little baby has been on NO GO status since we bought the boat. It just wouldn't power up and we thought it was the head unit which we delayed purchasing because it's around $400. We believe it was a bad ground though and now she works! Testing is complete and she's awesome. We are SO ready to sip coffee instead of turn the helm for our passage! Do you have any ideas for our autopilots name?! Let us know!

Mistake to avoid!

Ok here's a mistake to avoid should you ever move onto a sailboat. When we left for the wedding recently we knew we'd be away from the boat for about a week. Jeremiah turned off the wind generator and the solar panels just because we were set up with AC at the marina we pulled into. We thought it would be good to give those systems a rest and our wind generator isn't regulated. We don't want to cook our batteries. We left. Along the way to Texas, we got a call from the marina saying that the...

Back on the boat!

We get back to the boat today after our little trip to Texas! We love it when we get back to our girl. The trip was long but it was so nice to see family. Jeremiah hadn't ever met his Texas cousins before this because he was always deploying while in the Marine Corps. So we wanted to make sure to take advantage of having the time now. Now it's time to prep the boat for the kids arrival, we couldn't be more excited! We also have a brand new episode in the works!!

Update!

We're currently on the way to a wedding! We have family in Texas that are getting married tomorrow which is also Jeremiah birthday! So, couple of good things! We found a great little Marina that we navigated into perfectly, even rounding a piling by using a line (a first for me). We got a Ford Fusion for a rental car, it had transmission issues so we took it back in. The only thing they had left was a fully loaded Mustang convertible, so they upgraded us for free! There is less space and isn'...

A bit of wind!

Hello Patrons! We've had a good amount of wind recently, that's for sure! It's been great. Blowing from 15-25 most days, that has really allowed us to feel our girl out. She sails beautifully, she points into the wind great and loves to heel! Thankfully I'm getting used to it. It's fun!! Just wanted to stop in and say hello and give you an update!!

Today!

Today was such a cool day! We got up at about 6am and Jeremiah took Bella to the beach via Taco to go potty. I readied the boat and when he got back we departed. It was just about sunrise. We had anchored right off the ICW behind a causeway in order to shield ourselves from the howling north winds. It was a great anchorage! We departed with two other sailboats and as we entered the ICW a few more joined us. We all raised our jib sails around the same time and sailed down the ICW together. The...

Up and down, up and down

When you sleep in a V-berth, boat anchored and large swells come from the front of the boat, your entire body goes like 6 feet up and then 6 feet down over and over and over lol Do I feel sick or do I feel relaxed? I don't know. Maybe the toilet will help me decide! 😂 I'll either get relaxed really quick or just sleep in the salon where it's more neutral. Either way, it's fun 😁

What the crap is that?!

We were on Taco a bit ago. 🌮 We were on our way back from dinner and taking Bella out. Just putting along in the dark on calm waters with Jeremiah at the helm, me holding Rhys and our little doggie when Jeremiah says "What the crap is that?!". I look behind me and the sky is completely lit up over the horizon. I immediately think "We're getting nuked" lol (because I'm paranoid). The sky stayed lit up over the horizon for a few long seconds and then boom. There it was! A rocket shooting stra...

A little update!

Hello all my lovely Patrons!

So here we are! Departed and cruising along! It's an amazing feeling and I hope that we can share it with you vividly!

Today we sucessfully launched and recovered Fiesta from the bow. It was pretty windy...about 6 knots up and down. She moved a bit once in the air but it was really only noticable when she was taking off and then coming in for a landing.

The footage is so cool! We need to get better at flying it but we got some cool footage t...

Moving along!

Hello friends! We're moving along! I'm actually typing this while at anchor laying in the V berth, we just finished watching Pirates of the Caribbean while sipping a little rum. Things are going well! The weather has just been wonderful for the past few days. The winds are blowing right now from the south at about 16, the wind generator is whirring along and it's about 76 degrees outside. We've been using the iPad we spoke about in the last video along with the Garmin app for most of our nav...

New coins!

Another batch of challenge coins are in the works right now! This time we went with brass and we loooooove the sample we've been given! Now, who should get one of these sweet little babies?! We've decided to give challenge coins instead of boat cards like so many do. Just our way of bucking the system we guess ;)

Thank you!

As some have noticed, we met our goal of $1000.00 per video a month or so ago. We had decided that if we hit that goal we'd bite the bullet and buy a drone for our videos. Meet the newest addition to the family, her name is Fiesta! She is a DJI Phantom 4. Unless we crash her into the water, the stays on our boat or ourselves, we're sure she'll bring you some amazing footage! We want to thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us throughout our journey so far. We constan...

Not a great picture but...

We love the way our girl's bootie looks! We're so excited that we are out of here. We had planned to leave today but then remembered that Thanksgiving was this week. Lol. We had completely forgotten about the holiday during all the work we were doing to the boat. So we adjusted plans the other day to leave right after Thanksgiving. We just have the main sail and some of the deck items (fuel cans, bikes, etc) to put back on the boat and we are ready to go! She's juuuust listing to starboard ri...

Thank you so much to the Patron that sent us such wonderful gifts! These are just a few out of a ton of items that are absolutely wonderful on our boat! Thank you again!!

It's truly amazing how many friends we've made since starting this journey! All of you are so appreciated. Thank you for everything each of you do for us. We are truly touched.

Sometimes we get a little bummed when we get flak for putting ourselves out there. We get it but ugh sometimes it gets a little tryi...

40. Sailing SV Lazy Gecko - Key West II & A Failed Project

Hi everyone!

Happy Friday to you all! Please enjoy this episode where we finish off our Fantasy Fest trip and then get busy working on the boat! We show you a project that didn't end up working in our favor and one that does, thankfully! There's also Vimeo version of this episode, of course!

Thank you all so much for your support. We can't show our appreciation enough!

We're getting there!

The boat is compounded and waxed! The brightwork is gleaming, it's beautiful! We love having such an old boat that can clean up like the sexy lady that she always has been!

Tomorrow we will be back up the mast to fix a fitting on our VHF coax that isn't allowing it to broadcast long distances. We're also going to polish our fuel tomorrow because it's been sitting for a bit, we want to limit the unexpected...Even though we know it will come in some form!

We look to leave by Monday, ...

New episode news!

It's almost done! Jeremiah's been having glitches on the computer and we thought we had lost the new footage last night after the laptop crashed! Yikes! All was well in the end though. This is a fun one with more Fantasy Fest footage and then we do some engine and depth sounder maintenance on the Gecko! One of which doesn't turn out well at all! :( This week in real time...The boat is getting compound and waxed, VHF antenna cable is getting repaired and then we depart!!! We can't wait to get o...

Throw back...Friday?

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! As you probably know, we love the holidays and are super pumped about them rolling in! We hope each of you have a wonderful holiday season! As far as an update...We are now tossing a few things into storage and grabbing the items we stored when the kiddos went back to California such as Nacho (our tube) and their life jackets. All a part of our final things to do before we leave. We have an appointment this next week to get our VHF antenna repaired. After that w...

Sailing S/V Lazy Gecko - Meet me on Duval Street

Here's the latest episode lovely Patrons! Trust when I say that the Vimeo version has MUCH more footage but beware, it's Fantasy Fest footage. Very risky. Only the daring should watch that version. (It's almost finished uploading)

We head to Key West, Florida to meet up with some of you and to enjoy our first Fantasy Fest! We also have a surprise meeting with an American Idol contestant who just happened to be friends with a dear friend of ours. Watch and see!

Thank you all so much for a...
