A crusader, veteran of wars against the Old Forest, has travelled to north-eastern Bassorah, to a wooded region said to be occupied by twisted trees that are said to have grown from seeds brought from a distant tainted realm.
In the city of Karalla he seeks the advice of ...

A prospector is searching in the tainted plains of Hotutaer in southern Tartak. He observes an Atramental Aurora at dusk just before finding a half-buried religious symbol of a deity he does not recognise.
The next morning he crosses paths with a merchant wearing a softsuit travelling in an ambulant. The two trade supplies, as is common in the region, before parting ways.
Acid rain forces the prospector to find she...

A nervous vat-born oddity travels to a dream-like Atramental realm in the deserts of Kharkharadontis and, after being injured by a wounded chiter is forced to take shelter in a caravanserai before being able to penetrate the deepest reaches of the dreamlands.
There, it is ridiculed by a group of uncouth Knights Ferrous, and leaves for its homeland in Laaskha. On the way it encounters an old itinerant who teaches it...

I'm going to be trying something new in December - posting a random plot line every-day based in the world of Elyden, with character archetypes that feel at home there, and events befitting the world, in locations that I have spent years detailing.
These are going to be quick, short and just a taster of what full plots are possible. Perhaps they can help spawn some ideas for short stories and even RPG adventures. Use them as you wish :)

Here’s the latest map from the Atlas Elyden, depicting its constellations in both the southern and northern hemispheres. It features some generic information about constellations in general, as well as more details about each constellation.

UPDATE: June 2024
I received a message from a Patron asking for more details regarding the relationships between the maps I’ve been posting. And that got me thinking. I've been living in this world for so long now that I've come to take a lot of things for granted, things that might need more explaining to those of you looking from the outside in.
Though I have posted some maps of 2018-11-26 08:51:44 +0000 UTC

An ageless wind sweeps across that land, carrying the dust of dead civilisations with it. Beneath sands and knolls stripped bare by tireless storms lie buried and forlorn the tombs of a people whose name history has forsaken. Within are the desiccated husks of what can only be imagined to be their leaders, their priests; their hierarchs – cocooned by sand, their eyeless lids ponder the passin...

I've been using reddit for a few years now, posting maps a week-or-so after I've uploaded them here (gotta give patrons some exclusivity!) and commenting on the worldbuilding, mtg and 40k subreddits sporadically (I'm mostly active on the /r/magictcg subreddit adding snarky comments.
I've decided to link my Patreon with a new subreddit I crated specifically for Elyden, which you can find 2018-11-16 09:11:02 +0000 UTC

Here's the latest map in the Atlas Elyden series - Tzallrach or, as it is known to its natives - Char Mathi. This is a companion piece to the map of Venthir, as the two share a common ancestry and ancient heritage as both were territories of the early Fifth Age Venathi Empire.

Here's the 1st finished 2-page spread from the Atlas Elyden, detailing a handful of nations that will appear in the atlas, in alphabetical order. Some of the nations have already been detailed in maps, whereas others are yet to be detailed (hence the TBD under some of the informative text for some of the regions - some details, like total populations and square-area, need a finished map).
Each A3 spread will have around 10 - 12 similar entries, each containing the state...

Here's a sneak at a 'map' I'm working on for the Atlas. Not really a map but a series of entries detailing the nations and states of Elyden.
Each A3 spread will have around 10 - 12 of the above entries in it, each containing the state flag, a territory map, generic info, and a small history/travelogue detailing the region. Some of he info (such as the square-area) is precisely calculated from my Photoshop files, where others (such as the populations) are estimates - though every city deta...

This post may be a bit technical, so I’ll try to keep the jargon to a minimum.
The problem with not using GIS software is the fact that there’s a lot of back-and-forth going on in my maps. I don’t think this is something that can be helped, whether its in raster (Photoshop) or vector (Illustrator) software. Were I using vector software id have to convert everything to raster for the purposes of changing the projections.
This stems from the fact that I’m using a...

Here's a map detailing the various states of the Surrach, their banners, capitals, populations and exports/industries.
The banners took a while get done, but, on the whole, I'm pretty pleased with the result. I tried to give many of them a bit of a subtle (or not-so subtle) middle-eastern or African feel to them, to fit in with the culture that the Surrach is meant to evoke.

Here's a sneak peak of my work so far on editing the Encyclopaedia - page 1 of about 450. I'm getting stuck working on all the hyperlinks (just look at them all!) - these will be essential for ease of reference when I eventually get the thing finished as a PDF :)
It's going to be slow work, but hopefully well-worth it!
I've coloured them black and removed the underlines to make them less stark - though each link wil be denoted with italicised text
Edit: I noticed that the la...
