So this head was started in nomad sculpt, used the new re mesh feature to clean up the head before printing. Heavily recommend buying the re mesh feature for quads if you plan to print. It makes your life so much easier since it makes the mesh less dense and easier for the printer to figure out how to print.
This head also had a new liner inside and fully dye sub eyes. I don’t usually do straps but since this head has a zipper in the back I wanted to do this. In the past I had used el...

Going to be working on these eyes as an option for my current head bases on Etsy. Easy to glue from behind and have fantastic vision and color. Will slowly start adding this as an option to all the head bases I have. Will have an option to sell some pre attached to the base too.

So excited how this one is taking shape. Plus worked in a new liner and strap system for a 3D printed base. Much better than elastic straps or nylon. Made the pattern by duct taping the inside. Love how clean it looks.
Dye subbed the whole eye for better vision. Beyond happy with the results. Going to do this look on more of my suit heads starting now 👀

This is usually how I work on sculpts. Sketch something out, sculpt in Nomad and draw over in procreate. New head design we will be printing soon 😊 Another slim build.

Going to do a bit of a write up on this deer as I should have it wrapped up today. What worked and what I need to alter in the next print. Overall happy with how it’s looking. The TPU parts made antlers and ears less of a nightmare.

TPU is a really interesting material but definitely not all TPU is built the same. Been using 2 brands lately and will be doing a whole video and write up based on the current last week or so tests and findings. Going to talk about what sort of settings I use and what has and has not worked for me. Machines I am trying this one and where I am getting the best results.
Hands down it is a good material to use but definitely see why some shy away from it. Plan to do this later this week as...

Currently testing out printing ears out of TPU filament. A lot of positives with the material but still trying to see best way to speed it up. I do plan to create molds from all these very soon since foam casting overall will be much quicker, but doing a few ears out of TPU or even very specific ones I may not need a ton of might be the best option.
Will do a mini write up about all the TPU findings and what settings seem to be working best for me and what machines I am using.

Working with manufacturers takes a very long time, so if this is something you want to pursue give yourself a lot of time. I started this process in November of last year and have been back and forth with 3 different companies the past few months. To work with manu's you need to be able to really convey the idea you have in mind and be extremely patient. Language barrier is also a big hurdle so explain every aspect as simple as possible. Aside from explaining everything I want changed or done...

So you might be wondering why it matters to keep your 3d mesh clean, what does it even mean to keep it clean?
I tend to work on a lot of my bases in nomad sculpt. Nomad makes things really easy when you are out and about because you can do most of the work on the go on your ipad. But nomad doesn't always do the best job in keeping the meshes easy to work with.

From a quick glance you may ...

Very early stages of a weasel VRC avatar I am working on. Want to keep this one pretty simple to give quest users the ability to use it as a stand alone. Let’s see how it goes, since all my avatars have been PC only.

Want to make it heavily stylized but make the entire eye mesh. With dye sub I can create the exact look and extra vision. Still debating how much I want to have the mouth open. A very early concept.

Working on posting a few bases I do not usually post on Etsy here. The ones with the rounder eyes I have a few I have set up and just about ready to go but will be offering them here with a choice of eye mesh color. I do not plan to make more of those in the future as they are a "to do" so if you are looking for that style do catch this sale I plan to post probably by next week.
I will be going over a few prints that I may not have offered yet and offer them here first as well. I have o...

My friend is lending me his Apple Vision Pro for the month. So I’m testing everything I can do with this machine and so far I love it. As a stand alone device it’s good but paired with a Mac computer it’s insane.

So why am I excited? I can run Zbrush, beam it into my headset and literally sculpt on a screen the size of my entire room. I can zoom into its eye to see t...

Working with my rigging partner at the moment to get the puppy going for Vseeface first. I have another pal working on helping me get it going in VRC. But first quick previews of the vrm file for vseeface. Working on getting the toggles working right, adding the normal maps as they are missing from the previews, working on a few little puckering issues around the eyes and moving the bottom teeth up. This one has quite a few toggles since it will have a hoodie you can take on and off, a tshirt...

Currently working with 2 people to get the puppy up and going for vseeface and vrchat. I tend to get help with the unity set up so everything works well to divide the work and I can focus on sculpts and textures. I should have this puppy ready sometime in march. Beyond excited to release this one. I am going to work on a few textures to release soon so I will be posting previews here.

So plastic injection molding with this machine is going to take some time to learn. So the machine itself is pretty cheap the way it was built so did not expect much. It does not handle non PP pellets well. Tried this stuff that feels like rubber and took forever to get to temperature to even extrude a tiny bit. The PP pellets partially worked, when I say partially I mean they did extrude but did not fill the mold fully. It’s very very tough to get a good “shot” into the mold with this ...

Decided I wanted to dive into the plastic injection molding world one step at a time. Starting with a really basic machine but this should show me what I need when I want to move up to the next one.
So why injection molding?
It’s a cheap process after you have the master mold either made of aluminum which lasts forever or one that lasts a while out of resin (eventually breaks down). But resin is easy to print at home and have copies of.
Aluminum molds I n...
