folks. you know me. i'm a special snowflake. i like to try to deviate from the conventional even when i draw very classic, well-known, and traditional monsters--i want them to be recognizable, but i try to add an original spin to my designs. when i set about to draw a phoenix, i wanted to come up with a way to make them look a bit more unique than the conventional greco-roman and medieval european depictions. not that there's anything wrong with them--i just enjoy challenging myself to think out...

September MOTM: Creepy unicorn (painting) // nsfw

an eerie unicorn and her witch girlfriend! i was so excited when "creepy unicorn" was voted to be september's monster of the month because i already had such a clear mental image of what i wanted her to look like (more on that in the concept art/design commentary post). she turned out more or less exactly like i imagined her, and painting this was an absolute blast as well. i'm incredibly happy with both the characters and the artwork and i hope you enjoy them/it too! <3
