Trappers' Camp [30 x 50]

The fur robes of the Imperial Court originate not from a loom in the Weaver’s District but in a clearing hewn from the Ancients’ Wilderness, far from ‘Civilisation’ and its protections.

A hive of activity by day with hunters skinning carcasses and tanning hides. Others are off setting and checking traps. All the work is accompanied by the baying of hounds. At night, the trappers huddle round the fire, pipe in hand, sharing stories and mead. Even while sleeping, spea...

Fey Forest Fork [30 x 50]

Two roads diverged in a feywood, and I—

I took the one with the sound of singing, music and revelry,

And that has made all the difference (and is why I shall never see my home plane again).**

Hi

Here is our forest fork collection, 15 maps giving choice to parties with nary a railroad in sight. Follow the Yellow Brick Road (be careful of lions, tigers and bears) to other variants including Fey, frozen, lava, cobbled...

Rice Farm [50 x 50]

Toil is the certainty which defines the life of a peasant. Long days in the field, planting, tending and harvesting. Wet, muddy work under an uncaring sky. Harvest celebrations provide a momentary reprieve from the daily grind. After harvest comes the fear. Will the Daimyo tax more this year for the war? In a lean year bandits will raid, how many ronin can the village afford?  Will they be worse than the raiders?

The war is not all bad, some years the war reaches the v...

Fight Market [52 x 52]

The sound of iron clashing into iron rings louder than the cacophony of traders extolling the virtues of their wares.  The shoppers leave the merchants and race to the Death Pit for a drink, a stool and view of the carnage. Wagers are swiftly negotiated between the touts and their marks, er customers.

When the bloodied dwarf’s axe finally finds its target and drops the desert elf to the earth, the crowd erupts into applause and curses. Above the crowd, a gruff voice ...

Constellation Tower and Fey Landscapes [30 x 50]

Ignoring the melee below,  High Seer Lannko needlessly scanned the night sky again confirming the details she already knew by heart. The Ox was high, the Shepherd Moon Full in the House of Falcon, and the Ice Bear rising. It was time to begin. She initiated the chant, every syllable timed to perfection. The stars don't shine they burn, a lesson those who challenged her learnt too late. The constellations shift. Now the world will learn she is more than just her gift.*

Tavern and Izakaya at World's Edge - Twin Sets [30 x 50]

Welcome travelers to the the First and Last Hotel. Reggie will take your bags. Visitors from Worldside, to be sure. Ale, mead or wine? You here for the view, some research or planing? Judging by the aromas of your chests, you are hoping to go Astral. Good luck with that, but I'll let you know, rules of the House are no rituals inside. Be careful what you throw over the edge, the Denizens sometimes take offense. On that, if we have a planar incursion, it is appreciated that all ...

Menhir Spring [50 x 50]

There are worse ways to make a living. It’s relaxing sitting back, pipe in mouth and watching them rocks. Big stone slabs, covered in runes, floating in the air, did I mention above a mystic pond? Got to hand it to those Ancients, they built big and built to last. No idea why they did it though. Why they made them in such remote places was confusing until I saw three wizards disagree on who had rights to the spring. Turned out none of them did but it made for a great show.

Forest Shrine [30 x 50]

Deep in the woods, as the pilgrims soon learn, silence and serenity are rare. Birds and wolves, add the odd bandits and ogres weed out those of weaker faith and arms (armour helps too).

Arriving at the shrine, relief is the first emotion, then things get unworldly. Raptures, Zen peace, divine rage and unbridled passion are just some of the side effects.

The servants of the shrine have seen it all before and when things calm down clean up awaiting the next bun...

The Onsen (Hot Spring) [25 x 55]

Steam fills the room obscuring the faces of the bathers. Choosing the right bathing spot can make the day. The two loud boors near the entrance are best avoided. Young drunks, most likely they will be scrubbing floors in atonement before morning.

The hot, almost scalding waters are best entered without grimace or grin. Settled in, this is great, the day’s woes dissolve away. A glance at the new neighbours, hopefully no need for the tattooed brute to the right. Is that the...

Fey Brook [25 x 55]

Another day travelling through the Fey. We got this. It's a pretty place but don't wander off alone. Resist the Sirens' calls, stick to the stream.

Be sure to only pay what you intend with those innocent looking (treacherous, deceitful) traders. Keep a hand on your loot and trinkets when the nymphs and satyrs dance around you.

Lights up ahead, careful, they will be will-o-wisps to lead us astray. No way we falling for that one again. Hold up, they don't...

Camp of the Nomad Horde [42 x 42]

Here today, raiding the next town tomorrow, the Horde never stays anywhere long. Relentless, remorseless and just plain brutal. Fear, spreading faster than their famed steeds, grips realms on news of the Horde’s arrival.

Contrary to legend, the Horde must rest, turning uninhabited land into a city of yurts in no time. After a night’s revelry, the Horde packs up with the dawn and is on the move again, hunting its next victims.

Japanese Canal District [50 x 50]

The canal is the lifeline of the town, transporting people, goods and livestock. More than just a waterway, the canal divides the people, the wealthy and powerful on one side, the poor and destitute on the other. Crossing the bridge is travelling between worlds. Some few raise their lives and cross to the upside. Through bad luck and poor choices many more find themselves forced to the poor end of town, staring across enviously at what they lost.

Hi,

If one is wealthy or well-connected enough, they may receive an invitation to the Atrium. Though lacking a title, the Master of the Atrium has influence which cannot be overstated. The invitation is a summons in all but name, defied only by the foolhardy.

Through an opulent entrance, guests are welcomed with fanfare and guided to their destination by fawning servants. Serene and private, though only yards away from the stench, grim faces and mud of the city streets, it may ...

Blood, sweat and never tears. Under blazing sun and amid freezing mists veterans and aspirants toil relentlessly. Blades, tridents, nets and shields the gladiators must be versed in all forms. Weapon mastery alone is not enough, the crowds must be entertained. Losing marvellously can be the difference between life and death on the sands of the Arena.

Atakebune – Shogun War Barge [30 x 66]

The rhythmic beating of the drums, heard over the roar of the waves and screeching of the gulls, heralds the arrival of the Shogun’s fleet. The Atakebune, pride of the fleet, a floating fortress loaded with artillerists, archers and samurai instils fear as it glides out from the mists. Wise enemies surrender, the foolish are destroyed.

When the battle is over, and peace restored, it is time to celebrate. The engineers of the Imperial Court work their magic and the Atakebu...

Matters of size

Hi

There is a time and place for maps of all sizes. You will probably not be surprised to hear that in our games, we tend to play on larger maps, with ambushes, cover PCs and NPCs moving all over the place. That said, we also use smaller maps as suits the scene.

What map sizes do you like?

Also, if there are any maps you would like to see, drop us a message and we will see what can be done. No guarantees but we will try.

Fey Glade [25 x 25]

At first glance, the sylvan glade offers respite from the rugged, primeval wilderness. Eerie silence, after the fey harmonies, is the first hint something is off. The bones are confirmation.

If you squint hard enough, the bones could just be those of wild horses or deer. Antlers are not long and straight, and wild horses don't have wings.

Hands unconsciously grasp at weapons and component pouches. Investigate or flee, there are choices to be made.

The Dragon Throne [25 x 55]

The aggressively brutal opulence leading to the throne room is still inadequate preparation for the glory of the Dragon Emperor upon the throne.

Of course to see this, one must be granted leave to raise their forehead from the silk carpet or the view of Imperial Majesty will be their last sight before a journey to the Hell for Imperial Gawkers.

This decree against gawking is a shame because tavern poets, who lay claim to having seen the throne (when they were Imperial Poet, ...

Japanese Fishing Village [32 x 32]

Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Facing the Ocean's eternity, on a spring day, under a blue sky, the village looks idyllic. The songs of the  clam diggers contrast with the fishmongers' screeching.

The aroma is a different beast, unnoticed by the locals but capable of leaving a mountain barbarian gagging on their knees.

Despite their calm demeanour, the anglers are hunters at heart...

At High Noon, lead by the Head Priest, the chanting reaches its crescendo. If the Sun Lord is pleased, the fanaticism will be rewarded with ailments cured, sustenance, fortified spirits and the Des...

Up Fey Creek [30 x 50]

Bring a paddle.

After many days trekking, the bloody change to the colour of the river gives the first hints about the reason no upstream merchants or messengers have arrived this season.

Impaled skulls and the pile of bones in front of the falls removes any semblance of subtlety about the location of the problem.

What lies behind the falls? Will our heroes approach and try a classic vanquish or let discretion rule the day and return to report ...
