Using Factory Optimization to Peel Eggs & Improve Everything (Multivariate Experimental Design)
New video today! This one will go live to the public in an hour or so.
Thank you very much to all of you who are supporting these projects. It really helps give me peace of mind about spending my time on projects that could make a difference in people's lives rather than being overly concerned about gaining maximum video views. Thank you!

This was a huge project and my longest video to date! A long overdue update to my IR cooling paint project, this time using common and very affordable materials. Besides the paint itself I was happy to discover some new methods for making size controlled calcium carbonate microspheres. That may prove useful for all sorts of things. I hope you enjoy!

In this video I test several experimental projects with an oxygen concentrator. There was no script for this one so you get to see a bit of my experimental process. Thanks for your support!

Here's a quick follow up to my last video about intercalated graphite and it's use in intumescent, fire resistant products. This pipe collar uses strips of compressed expandable graphite flake with a flexible binder to wrap around pipes and seal them off in case of fire. Pretty neat.

In this video we make intercalated graphite, useful for making graphite foil, graphene, intumescent fire barriers, superconductors, etc.. In addition to this I compare multiple methods of intumescent fire protection to find out if expandable graphite preforms as well as carbon foam.

New video today! This was supposed to be a quick one to film and publish to get back into the swing of things after my long absence but it turned out sort of challenging. There should be many more videos coming soon!

Early preview for Patrons!
Wow, 5 months since my last video. That's the longest I've ever gone without posting. I hope this one is worth the wait!
I've been sick for much of the last year but finally felt well enough to get this project filmed and finished. Hopefully this next year will be illness free as the problem seems to have been identified and correctable with minor surgery, and I'm feeling well enough to work in the meantime.
Let me know how you like this project in...

Here's a great trick to make fabric tarps which also works to waterproof other items like clothing and outdoor gear. Hope it proves useful!

It's been too long! Thanks everyone for sticking with me while I was sick the last few months. Finally I'm back with a new video, and I'm real excited about this one: a novel way to make senko hanabi sparklers that does not require any oxidizers. This means they can be made safely with ingredients that are accessible and legal to purchase anywhere in the world (as far as I know)
This is an early preview for Patrons. The video will go live to the public tomorrow.

Hey everyone, here's my first YouTube short. I've injured my knee about two weeks ago and haven't found it easy to continue work on the projects I had planned. Not sure yet when I'll be back to normal so I decided to put together this clip in the meantime. Patron accounts will NOT be charged for this post. Hope you enjoy!

Early release for patrons! Hopefully you enjoy this somewhat silly video and still find it educational!

Forgive me for the clickbaity title, but I think the content delivers on it's promise!

In this video I play with a fire driven Rijke tube and try to get some interesting slow motion shots. I've decided not to charge patrons for this video since it was fairly low effort and the second video this month.

In this video we explore another facet of thermoacoustics: heat pumps and refrigeration.
This is an early release for Patrons! The video will go live to the public tomorrow around 12pm Eastern time.

I *think* this will be the final version of this video that will go live in a few hours, so here's early access for Patrons. If I end up having to upload a different copy before the video goes live I apologize in advance if your early comments get deleted. Either way I hope you enjoy having the first look at the video! Thanks for your support

In this video we explore the recently discovered process for creating flash graphene: the first economical method to make high quality turbostratic graphene in bulk. Using this method it's possible to convert nearly any carbon source (recycled materials, coal, carbon black, etc.) directly into graphene.

Quick experiment of the day. Patrons will not be charged for this post since it's just a quick followup to my video from a few days ago. Enjoy!

In this video I show how to make a forge using a kitchen-made fireproof lining, similar to Starlite.

Here's a much requested update to my video on homemade Starlite posted in late 2018.
I haven't decided if I'll post it to the public tomorrow or on Sunday, but in either case I hope you enjoy the early preview and opportunity to make the first comments!
Thanks!

For this project I set out to make a wood burning camping stove that could heat a shelter or hot tent (an open floored tent made for use with a stove) without weighing you down on a hike. For such purposes it's necessary to use a chimney, which I decided should take the form of a walking stick. The stoves shown in this video have a total weight of about 3 lbs each (1.4 kg), and are very easy to walk with. The price for each is about $20, and even less if you can find a few of the pieces in yo...

Here's a clever little guitar project that's incredibly simple with only three parts. This video is an early release for patrons and will go public around 2pm EST tomorrow, so if you'd like you can get in an early comment. Hope you enjoy!

In this video I show how I made my mobile tool cart/mini work bench that I've been using for all my projects over the past few months. This was inspired by an original build by Adam Savage of Mythbusters and now the YouTube channel, Tested. His version of this tool cart can be seen in a video here: https://youtu.be/TWQAYfGxsPE
