So a friend recommended this iPad app to me after I was talking about the lack of clipping masks on Procreate and golly, is it very much like Photoshop! While I do admit that Prcreate‘s UX (user experience) is miles better than Artstudio Pro, there are just so many features on this app that I wanted. Photoshop brush imports, text, guides, adjustment layers, it’s kind of amazing that this app flew under my radar till now!
It also has a screen recording feature so I’ve managed to get...

I'll be participating in the 3rd Gemanimate and I got a pretty sweet shot of Peridot. Here's a quick sketch of how I want the design of Peridot to look like. I want some semblance of lighting in my piece so I'll probably follow this up with a color key before I start on the character animation. I'm so excited to wor...

When I got nothing to draw, I just like mindlessly drawing stuff. So the time I started doing this, I had this thought that I may be relapsing to a same-face syndrome. I feel like there's something with how I draw and render my eyes that makes it look like that. I also want to see how I can vary the head/face shapes and proportions. It's fun being a bit loose!

I forgot to post this process but here we are! When I was drawing this, I wanted to see if I can get away with just black and red as a color. Turns out it didn't work well so I settled with a gray for the body.

Oh geeze time flew so fast I forgot to update! I have been sketching inbetween things. As usual, this is a page with me practicing contours over construction. What I did forget to write about (one of the big reasons of why I keep doing these things) was that I'm aiming to do my drawings more efficiently like how the storyboard artists I follow online do it.
I saw online that in order to be in storyboarding, draftsmanship and speed are some of the key elements in working in the scene. It'...

Hey all! Just chiming in to thank everyone for their generous support for my Patreon.
Just some updates I'm making for the next month in regards to the Classmate reward tier: I'm changing it from two character bust sketches to one full character sketch instead! I was thinking that perhaps just a bust may not be enough practice of pushing my proportions further. I'll see how this goes, though!
As usual, I still have a critique tier up so ...

Here's this month's round of sketch requests! I'm deciding to change this tier a bit as I think I would like to move on to full-body requests so that I can practice up stylizing full bodies. Update to come next (like...in a reall bit!)

So here's another post type that I want to do for this Patreon and that would be a style study where I basically draw something with an artist in mind and then I analyze my process afterwards. This dedication drawing is based on a piece by Kevin Dart, more specifically his style of color choices.

For someone who is color blind (Yes the guy is and I still can't believe it), he knows a lot about color...

Alright, I’ve picked up Procreate again so I’ve managed to upload the process of this drawing. Here’s pretty much the full process which includes my (messy) sketch phase. To be honest, I’m not quite that happy with how the girl turned out pose-wise but I didn’t want to spend too much time on it so I went with what I made.
i’m still figuring out a faster way to make doing flats on this program so coloring took a while too. Ah well, I learned some stuff making this so that’s...

I get some comments about how my drawings look so dynamic. I sat down a bit and thought about how I draw my stuff, especially when I think about poses. Aside from thinking about the gesture (by the way read Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators by Mike Mattesi), I could break down the stuff I consider into 3 things:
1. Axis - This simplest way to break symmetry is to switch up the angles the body parts are facing. Just by avoiding parallel axes, your pose can look a bit mo...

Here are some warm-up rough sketches for the past few days (weeks??). Not too much thoughts in this other than learning how to draw shorthand without relying on construction. Some of these have 2+ passes because I'm still such a messy drawer haha.

Can I just say I’m so excited for Disney’s The Owl House? it’s like the show premise is made for me.
i’m just logging this here among the current WIPs i’m juggling. I’m definitely going to work on this maybe when more news of it comes out!

Hey everyone! I'd like to once again thank you for the support! You seriously have no idea how much this has helped me!
I've added a new tier for critiques and suggestions for your recent work. If you are working on something that you'd like to get some extensive advice and help on, this tier may be for you! If you'd also like me to check out and give some general comments on your folio/works, then this ALSO may be for you! Like the previous tier, I'm currently limiting it due...

With that eye meme going around the internet and I kinda wanted to make a small tutorial for how to add variety to your eyes! Hope you enjoy this one!
Arguably I would breakdown the eyelid shape/size into further parts as well as eyebrows but that comes down to what sort of shape you want!

Saw this eye meme going around the internet and it got me wondering about how I draw them. I think I don't pay too much attention to them? I wanted to see how much I can vary them as well as noses too.
Have some random sketches!

Good thing i sorta managed to not flatten my layers this time. Here's a step-by-step process for my recent drawing. Let me try to break it down:
1. Initial sketch - getting the pose and angles right
2. Sketch tie down - solidifying forms and features
3. Base colors - usually when I'm doing lines, I'll go through another sketch tie down, but since I'm going for lineless, I just figure out the forms along the way. This serves as my base layer.
4. Coloring - slap...

I think I'm gonna turn these WIPs into GIFs now to show how I do each step!
I did a preliminary design for this cave pool and the sigils on it.

The world uses baybayin script (a Filipino script) combined with Filipino words for stuff related to magic. I actually had to write it down to see how it looks like. After making the rough layout, I just used the perspective tool and laid it out on the s...

Gonna break down this recent sketch of Morrigan I posted!
When I want to add dynamism to my drawings, I think of how I can use contrasting diagonals to my advantage on top of the line of action. If I wanted this to be more dynamic, I'd throw in some perspective stuff but that would ruin the silhouette a bit for me.

This was the initial sketch of this drawing:

I decided to scrap and forget it because the design and pose looked awful. I did come back to this idea a little bit later with a better pose in mind. I also went for pushing my proportions more. It turned out much better!
I....usually go through this process of scrapping and coming back a lot.

I ended up finishing this small animation project during the weekend so I'm making you all the first peeps to see this! This'll be a bit of a post so buckle up!
So talking about the process, I'm going to break it down per step even though I pretty much went back and forth on different steps rather than focusing on one step at a time.

Compositing is pretty much the most fun part in the animation pipeline for me. It's basically using Photoshop but with a timeline. I love messing with camera work, blending modes and effects!
Just the FX animation and a simple BG and this should be done!

I think it's about time I show some progress on a comic I've been making for the past few months. I had to put this on hold for some projects but for this month of June, I hope to have this finished by the end of the month.
If any of you are curious of how my pencils look like, this is pretty much it.

I did this "send me your OCs and I'll draw them" among friends and mutuals a while back so I included them in this month's request batch. Anyhow, I hope to push features more next time!
If you want something like this (as well as access to my Patron-only posts), there are still some slots left for the Seatmate Tier!

I went through social media before warming up and seeing some art got me thinking of how artists (specifically storyboarders) make their drawings look dynamic. I believe it's that they keep perspective in mind.
It's a small and subtle thing but I think it can be rather effective when used correctly. I have yet to push my perspective more with my sketches but hopefully I'll get there!
