Transparent Screen Aftershow

Hey guys! Got distracted replying to comments and somehow 30 minutes passed by before I posted the Aftershow. Here it is! https://youtu.be/Di6QObr9tk8

But on the plus side, I can answer something we speculate about in the Aftershow:  we talk about not knowing if this will do well or poorly because tech-based builds are kinda new for our channel, but 30 minutes in it's #1 of our past 10 so that's pretty exciting! W...

Plushies - MAYBE

Hey guys! So I don't want to get anyone's hopes up because what I'm about to show you is in the VERY early stages and it may not even happen, but we wanted to get your input. We're talking to a company about making custom little plushies of the 2 of us and of course, Joob. What do you guys think of our initial mockups?? The general head/body shapes can't be changed much, but there is flexibility in accessories and details. We haven't sent these yet so some things may not be possible (like, I'...

We haven't broken it yet!

Here's the transparent monitor after taking it apart! WE DIDN'T BREAK IT 🎉 It was much more stressful than expected, even though I went into it thinking it would be a pretty chill project haha 😅 But it's a pretty delicate operation, especially since we've never done it before and didn't quite have a feel for it. Next up we're making a modern wood frame for it <3 Katelyn

New video preview - transparent monitor!

Hey guys! So this week's project is VERY different for us... we're gonna make a transparent monitor! It's not the most practical thing necessarily, but it sometimes coolness is a higher priority than practicality haha. So we're basically taking apart a monitor, extracting the parts we need, and building a new wooden frame/stand for it. Then maybe I'll have Evan sit behind it so I can photoshop silly doodles over his face ;P <3 Katelyn

Bonus spin art footage!

Wanted to share the footage of our last spin that didn't make it into the video!  https://youtu.be/uYueheqYuMA

It's not edited aside from switching back and forth between cameras, overlaying the slow mo footage, and adjusting the brightness levels (we were losing daylight!) so it'll give you a little glimpse into what the spin art was like in real time (and what our videos are like without all the music, cut ins/z...

- Spin arts we did after we stopped filming
- How we almost changed ALL of them
- Evan's painted horizon idea
- Podcast secret...
- What would we do differently if we did it again
- Spinning handheld vs when we used the fan

We're also gonna be sharing in a separate post the footage for the bonus b...

Finished Spin Art!

Here are the finished spin arts from our project! Plus some bonus ones that won't actually be in the video (more on that in the Aftershow later...)

Spinning these was chaotic and kind of addictive haha, we just wanted to do more and more and keep experimenting. It was a huge thrill to throw a bunch of paint down, spin it up in front of our faces, and see the results. We're super excited to sha...

You may now kiss the spin art

"Welcome to our backyard wedding set up! I now pronounce you Evan and Katelyn. You may now kiss the spin art." Woooo our backyard is all ready to spin! We have no clue how violent the paint spray will be, but we underestimated it during our "painting denim jackets with an air cannon" video (our wall is still splattered) so we don't want to make the same mistake again. Though my guess is the time it took us to set all this up will be longer than the time to spin (there's even more off to the r...

Rig to spin the BIG canvas

As we mentioned in the last post about our drill-powered spin art, we don't plan on only doing little canvases. So we made a rig to spin a BIG canvas as a "grand finale" piece. It's terrifying. But... it DOES seem to work!

Took it out in the backyard and actually attached a canvas to it and it spins pretty well! <3 Katelyn

Drill Powered Spin Art

This week is a buffer week, but we wanted to share what we're working on for the next video...  drill powered spin art! It's something we've been tagged in a few times and we thought we'd try our hand at it. Can you believe it's been over a year and a half since our last spin art video (https://youtu.be/WWWANRuAem0) It was crazy to look back on that one and see how different our workshop looked, our footage (from our ...

Buy vs DIY Opal Pop Socket Aftershow

Was so hard to stop iterating for this project but also we didn't want to drag it out :P Hope everyone has a great upcoming weekend! Check out the aftershow for:

- Expectation vs. reality of resin opal
- If we had kept on going, what would we try next?
- Thoughts on UV resin
- Was the end result worth the efforts?

BUY vs DIY Popsocket this week

Hey guys! So remember like, weeks(?) ago we asked y'all to vote on the BUY vs DIY Popsockets? Well this week that video is going live!

It was our very first time using UV resin and I gotta say - it is pretty dang awesome. It just cures *so fast.* Literally you shine UV light on it and it stops flowing within seconds. We made 3 opal Popsocket tops in probably an hour, curing and...

New stream set up - success!

Hey guys! I know not everyone on Patreon watches the gaming stuff, but for the past almost 2 years we've been streaming, we've sat at the desk at an angle, looking off to the side to see our screen (so that the back of the monitor isn't in the camera frame). Ergonomics-wise, this wasn't great, even though I'm not really one to talk since 2/3 of the time I have a Joob on my lap which means I'm sitting too far from my keyboard and hunching over her haha.

Blindfold Banana Muffins Aftershow

Welcome to the Aftershow of what was perhaps our most fun to film video ever! Hope everyone has an awesome Friday and weekend :) -Katelyn

- Expectations vs reality
- Our contingency plans
- How two video ideas were combined to make this one
- Our 2 secret movie magic moments

Banana Muffin Recipe

Since Friday's video is about my banana muffins, we thought we'd share the recipe early with y'all! The reason this recipe is unique is because the proportion of banana is higher than most other recipes I see - so it's really moist and really banana-y. But the other secret is that at the end I drizzle melted butter over all of them and sprinkle on cinnamon sugar. Which I'm pretty sure should be done to ALL muffins. Anyways, here's the recipe! <3 Katelyn

Blindfold Baking

Hi guys, so this week we're doing another cooking video but with a twist 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 We were inspired by a game in Whose Line Is It Anyways where there is a cooking segment but one person acts as the arms for another person. The person in the front can't use their arms and the person in the back, acting as the arms, can't really see what's happening. Of course we did have to make some modifications due to our height differences because when I stand behind Katelyn I can just see ove...

Ocean Soap Aftershow

Aftershow, Aftershow, Aftershowwww! We had a lot of fun with this one guys. ALSO I NEED PIZZA SOAP IN MY LIFE. In this Aftershow we cover:

SPOILER! Beach soap :D

Hi y'all! Excited to share the result of our next video were we try to recreate the top down view of an ocean (inspired by the bath caddy we made with resin) but using soap instead!

We're still very much learning about best practices when it comes to making soap creations but we're really happy with how it turned out. Excited to share the full video with y'all soon -E

Who's ready for some good, clean fun?

Hey guys! Wanted to share what we're working on for the next project - we'll be trying to recreate our top-down resin ocean art with soap! Should be a fun, chill project after the long string of videos in August. It's been over a year since our last soap video so I'm excited to try it again. Plus we're gonna try some new mixins - these solid melting color blocks, and walnut shells to make sand! -E

Another BUY vs DIY - input needed!

Hey guys! We're filming things a bit out of order again this month for logistical reasons, so we're working on a BUY vs DIY that'll be live at the end of September and we wanted to get your feedback! For this one, we tried to recreate an opal popsocket.

Like always, I won't say which is the "buy" and which is the DIY, and you don't need to guess, but we'd love to hear which you prefer ("left/no...

Mini Update Post

Good morning! Just wanted to pop in with a little update post. We just completed 5 weeks of videos in a row (our longest period without a buffer week since late 2019) and we feel accomplished and sleepy haha. We typically try to give ourselves a little more breathing room. For several months now (excluding this chunk of videos) we had actually reduced to posting every other week. For the rest of the year it'll probably be: project video -> cooking video -> project video -> buffer wee...

BUY vs DIY Hand Pencil Holder Aftershow!

- Was the end result really worth the effort?
- How this process could be greatly improved if you had the time and knowledge
- Why we haven't done a BUY vs DIY in a while...
- Origin story of this project

BUY vs DIY - which one was ours? *Spoiler*

Hey guys! Super excited to publish the buy vs diy tomorrow. Honestly a huge reason we wanted to do this project was doing a life cast and it was just as gross and weird as I hoped.

I know a bunch of y'all already guessed which hand was the BUY and which was the DIY but just to confirm which was which... ours was the blue!

Cutting scenes from videos

Hey guys! Thank you everyone who gave input for our BUY vs DIY - that video is gonna go live this Friday! Even though y'all have already seen our end result, I thought it'd be fun to share a little behind the scenes stuff. Specifically, how we had to cut a bunch of footage from this video because of a huge detour.

Ok so we thought for this project we'd cast my hand in alginate (what people commonly use for "life casting" because it's pretty cheap and cures quickly). Usually people...

DIY Cheese Aftershow!

Hey guys! We had so much fun doing science adjacent cooking. Felt like a good mix between our typical content and our cooking videos. In this Aftershow we cover:

- How we plan to attempt this again (note: still not sure if we'll actually do it live)
- Was it worth it?
- Thoughts on filming/editing a project that "fails"
- Sharing our own recipes vs experimental cooking videos

Hope you all have a great weekend! <3 Katelyn

Prepare for our cheesiest episode yet!

Y'all have seen us make recipes we make all the time and are good at, but we thought it might be interesting to try cooking something we have never done before and is a bit complicated: CHEESE! Specifically Mozzarella :) Any guessed as to how it went on a scale of delicious restaurant quality to inedible unrecognizable lumps?

Because of the sponsor shenanigans last month and a long term deal with one of our favorite sponsors we just signed, somehow between 7/31 and 8/28, we're doi...

BUY vs DIY - we want your opinion for the video!

Hey guys! So we haven't shared much on this project yet since we're working on it *quite* ahead of schedule, but we wanted to get your opinion on these 2 versions of hand-shaped pencil holders (one purchased, one DIY'd) I'll surprise Evan with some of your comments in the video, AND we'll tally up which version is your fave.

Here are photos of the 2 versions. We don't need you to guess w...

Clear Galaxy Resin Cat Bed Aftershow!

Hey guys! Oh man... so relieved Joob actually got in her bed. In today's Aftershow we cover:

- The failed attempts to get Joob to try it that didn't make it into the video
- Other ideas we had before we settled on space-themed
- Thoughts on the new galaxy technique
- What we would change if we did it again
- What else we might do with the dome

Finished clear galaxy cat bed!

We really need to workshop the title for this thing haha... but here it is! It's pretty tough to capture both the galaxy resin AND the clear orb in one photo, but it looks very futuristic and cool in person.

And Joob *kinda* approves. After much bribing she finally got in it, but it is definitely not her favorite bed (current faves are an amazon box and the cat-shaped bed we use for the cat ca...
