Lots of dice tests!

Been working on some dice tests to try various things for the upcoming LED dice video! There are soooooooo many variables to test. Some will be part of the video (like trying to embed a floating LED and seeing if it still works) and some won’t be (like how many drops of alcohol ink do we need to add some color yet not be too opaque for the lights) So far we are learning a lot and Joobie approves of our hard work. -Katelyn

We accidentally used the wrong chair… (cat scratch chair Aftershow)

We’re officially done with rope for a while… but at least Joobie likes her chair! In today’s Aftershow we cover:

This is the face of someone several hours into wrapping a chair with rope, covered in itchy fibers, questioning what they’re doing with their time… (but not really because we will do anything for the Jooooooob!!!) Pride Joob Fundraiser - Preview!

Hey guys! This is a pretty far in advance preview, but we're working with Makeship (the same company we did our plushies and charms with) for their Pride Month initiative this upcoming June! We're setting it up with them on the backend so that all the proceeds from this plush go to LGBTQ2S+ organizations/initiatives/charities. We did a hot sauce challenge

Hey guys! We re-tried a type of video we dabbled with years ago, but taken to a MUCH more extreme level... a hot sauce challenge! We thought we'd gamify it a bit with some video games but the video ended up being 90% hot sauce challenge, 10% gaming because we* were so bad at the game. *SPOILER* Our BUY vs DIY Gem Lamp is done!

How do I express my feelings about how this lamp turned out? 💃💖😍🎉🥳🙌 It looks SO GOOD! Honestly we didn't know how close we could get to the finished look of the "buy"  but I'm so pleased. The vividness of the colors surprised me (the iridescent film seems to compound when you can see through it to other panels) and it also has much more of an "infinity cube" look than I expected due to the reflections. Getting the crazy shape for our BUY vs DIY lamp

Hey guys! So to get the geometric "gem" shape of the lamp right, Evan 3D modeled it, laser cut each face, and we held the hold thing together with a LOT of blue tape (adjusting as we went to get all the angles right). All this will probably amount to a very quick timelapse in the video haha. The "small" scale test we did to the right (in cheap draft board) was helpful as a practice run.

We're doing a buy vs. DIY as our next video and honestly what we chose is a bit intimidating! We have a lead how to make iridescent sheets but the joints... the base... the light itself are all things we'll need to figure out. I'll also need to figure out how to best 3d model such a weird shape. Wish us luck! -E

Updating the ham wheel!

Hey guys! Periodically we get asked if Joobie still uses the cat wheel, and to be honest she *does* but here's what it looks like:

1) Joob walks a few steps
2) She sits in the middle and looks at us
3) If we don't make a move, she'll walk a few more steps, stop, and look at us again
4) Usually at this point, we're overwhelmed by cuteness and give her ham

I'm sure part (most) of the reason for how she uses it is because she's more interested in ham than the wheel itself. B...

Remember when Katelyn "jokingly" said she wanted to flock her nails in the velvet keyboard video? Well... we did it 🤣

It turned out just as awesome and horrible as you're probably guessing. Excited to share with y'all this Friday! - E

p.s. Katelyn's nails were safe in this process! We used a peel off base coat, then red nail polish, then the flocking powder on top of the red nail plish.

*SPOILER* Lenticular resin worked!!

The photos don't do it justice, but our lenticular resin worked! We tried clear resin, blue resin, and glitter resin (above) with varying degrees of success. So excited to share this video with you tomorrow!

So for the resin lenticular lens video we needed to make 3 "mold masters" to pour silicone around to create our mold. This is something we've had to do in the past and I can't help but laugh at/admire Evan's brain sometimes. Explaining Physics is HARD (sneak peek)

So we recently found out about lenticular lenses... which have a unique property that allows objects behind them to disappear (under the right circumstances). Ruining a wedding present?

We just realized we had not mentioned to y'all WHAT we were restoring! Oh you know, just our bedside dressers we got as a wedding present from Katelyn's granny, no pressure 😅🤣 They really DO need a little TLC though because at one point or another they were each on my side of the bed and I'm not the most gentle person at the end of the day when I'm dropping my phone, keys, etc on the table 🤦‍♂️ -E

The catio got a large update! (Mini Vlog 46)

The catio got a LARGE upgrade with this new roof! We no longer have to clean it after every rain and Joob gets a nice and dry hangout space 🙌 -E
