Note: Depending on how long it ends up being, 138 might be an index chapter, collating game/rule information from across the work thus far, which was last done in ch 75, "Stats for Nerds". I don't think this is particularly high value, but it's commonly requested. In other words, these might be chapters 139-141.
Other note: Progress spreadsheet is here. T...

And the comment/suggestion links:
The last chapter of July was published on the 12th of August, so the July period covers all writing done July 2nd to August 12th, a period of 41 days. In that time, 9 chapters totaling 55,157 words were posted. The average was 1,345 words per day, with an average chapter length of 6,128 words.
Sub-optimal time between publication, unfortunately, which I'll try to be better about in the future.
I took a brief trip to San Francisco in July, which had more of an impact on writing...

The last chapter of June was published on the 1st of July, so the June period covers all writing done June 8th to July 1st, a period of 23 days (bringing us roughly back on track from the last report's 37 day period). In that time, 5 chapters totaling 40,656 words were posted. The average was 1,768 words per day, with an average chapter length of 8,131 words. (This does include ch 105, "Notes", because that was largely material that was newly written for that 'chapter', and it didn't go app...

2018-07-01 18:40:07 +0000 UTC View PostChapter 105 is largely in-character notes and supplemental stuff, which you should feel free to skip if that's not the sort of thing you tend to enjoy.
Some wonkiness for this report, since the cut-off would be either June 7th or May 23rd. I've chosen June 7th. (Reports go from the day after the last report's chapter/batch was posted to the day the more recent chapter/batch was posted, mostly to ensure that there's as little undercounting/overcounting as possible.)
The last chapter of May was published on the 7th of June, so the May period covers all writing done May 1st to June 7th, a period of 37 days. In that time, 11 chapters totaling 72,...
2018-06-08 23:18:43 +0000 UTC View PostChapters! See links below, let me know if there are any problems. Chapter will go to wide release on AO3 tomorrow.
Well, we hit the $300 goal quite a bit faster than I had anticipated, so I spent a bit of time yesterday finishing the story up, and posted The Council of Arches five minutes ago. Be warned that it's a short story entirely dedicated to the group's first attempt at playing a tabletop game, very slice-of-life, and contains spoilers up to ch 56. I don't consider it required reading for the main story.
2018-05-28 15:10:36 +0000 UTC View PostThis is the trial run of the Early Birds Initiative. Chapters will be posted as links to Google Docs, which is where they're written, in more or less the state that I anticipate publishing them. After 24 hours, the chapters will be posted, and these links will become mostly for historical purposes - they won't be updated with typo corrections, because the AO3 version of the story is the "master". Commenting will be turned off, mostly to preserve readability.
(I do anticipate that you'll run ac...
2018-05-23 03:00:01 +0000 UTC View PostI've added updated tiers and goals for Patreon, mostly encompassing things that I think I can do without sacrificing story quality or stressing me out too much. The two biggest things are Discord integration (I have a Discord now!) and early access at the $5 tier ... which we'll be trying out tonight, because a chapter will be posted tomorrow night. I mostly don't want anyone who's already pledged that amount to miss out because ...
2018-05-23 02:59:01 +0000 UTC View PostThe last chapter of April was published on the 30th, so the April period covers all writing done March 31st to April 30th, a period of 31 days. In that time, 6 chapters, totaling 37,194 words, or an average of 1,200 words per day, and an average chapter length of 6,199 words.
Up from last month, down from historical numbers, with the primary difference being that I didn't spend much time spinning my wheels on things that weren't working, nor on other projects that were calling to me. In o...
2018-05-01 05:01:03 +0000 UTC View PostThis is coming almost a week late, a fact which really should go into a meta-report.
The last chapter of March was published on the 30th, so the March period covers all writing done March 1st to March 30th, a period of 30 days. In that time, 5 chapters, totaling 30,564 words, or an average of 1,018 words per day, and an average chapter length of 6,112 words.

2018-04-06 06:08:02 +0000 UTC View PostI think that word count is a terrible metric of performance for an author, because word count isn't terribly hard to inflate, and really easily comes at the expense of the story construction and/or quality of the prose. That being said, it's not like you can easily quantify a work's other qualities, which is why word count dominates discussion of output. Word counts are reported verbatim as taken from the function in Google Docs, but shouldn't be treated as absolute, since there are lots of ways...
2018-02-28 17:49:56 +0000 UTC View PostJust updated with two new chapters. I don't plan to make a post here every time, as fair warning; sometimes it's a chapter every few days, which seems like a bit much (there were 15 chapters posted in September).
I'm planning to do an end-of-month data report, mostly as a way of quantifying word count, which I think is a pretty poor measure of productivity, but also one of the best ones available. (I will probably make a post on metrics for fiction at some point, because I love metrics and fic...
2018-02-18 19:30:18 +0000 UTC View PostI have good news and bad news.
The bad news is that Glimwarden is still on hiatus. I've written about five more chapters for it, as well as done some necessary edits to prior chapters to shore up places where I got off track ... but I've gotten distracted, and started work on something else.
The good news is that the thing I started working on is going really well, and is going to continue to go well into the foreseeable future, so I'm reopening this Patreon, and hopefully that won't ups...
2018-02-12 19:50:58 +0000 UTC View PostI am putting a halt to Patreon, effective immediately. I lately haven't had enough energy/motivation/inspiration/discipline for writing, which is resulting in me not actually writing anything, or just writing at an impractically slow pace. This isn't really fair to anyone who's supported me on Patreon, and I'm sorry for that. This isn't the end for Glimwarden, but it's the end of me pretending that I'm going to be able to hit regular updates, because clearly that's not happening.
I want t...
