2020-05-10 18:30:12 +0000 UTC View PostGreat, my computer had a crash and it deleted the miserable amount of work I've been able to put together today. So frustrated. With this COVID craze I cannot have a day entirely for drawing.
I hope I will release a double update this Sunday.

Nerites was a sea god mostly known for being the lover of Poseidon and having made a son with him: Anteros, the god of requited love. Not quite male-P, but the force of love that generates beings out of nothing.
And like Poseidon had a soft spot for Nerites, I have a soft spot for these creatures, that I designed a good two years ago, out of speculation about the appearance and biology of cetacean mammals.
They should have been featured in my "serious" comic, The Hunter, ...

Little break from mermay just to remember us that the most voted of my mermen will be the species that these guys will meet. And those guys are Gokong the Lieutenant Gorilla and Bastoro the Captain Bull.
I had very few doubts about the winner of this pool from the moment I posted it. So few doubts that I've worked out a reason in-story for Bastoro to be the first choice: beasts with hooves don't make good swimmers.
But I wanted to let you play it anyway.&nbs...

Delphinus was a daimon (being between the human and godly realm) that assisted the god Poseidon in his quest for the hand and dowry of the daughter of the original god of the sea (Nereus.)
As a reward, the gold digger Poseidon made a constellation out of him, and that's all. Dolphins appear in a couple more of minor myths, enough to say that Greeks found them quite nice animals.
And they're truly nice, with those round appearances...

Maybe you know that Hippocampus isn't just a part of the brain but also the name of the genus of sea horses.
The name comes from Greek mythology and describes the horses with fish attributes that sometimes pull the chariots of sea gods.
Coming up with an anthro rendition was pretty intuitive to me.
Far less intuitive drawing properly a horse's head. God, those things are very long. Also, the equine cock took a while.
I'm not into anthr...

Back on track guys, with another merman design.
Remember that there's still this pool for the winner of the first round the mermen selection going on. Go vote!
This time quite different.

Hey guys, I'm back with preparation for the #Mermay challenge. Not so many days left, he.
After the Nerei and the Sirens, time for the Protei.
Mythologically inspired by another old man of the sea, the god Proteus, and zoologically to the genus Proteus, an amphibian endemic of Alpine water caves between Italy and Slovenia, similar to the Southamerican axolotl.
Like the axolotl, this species performs neoteny 2020-04-27 16:30:58 +0000 UTC View Post
Hey, guys, I'm back. Elaborating the loss of a dog that was my shadow (seriously, I still walk looking at my feet for not absent-mindedly kicking her) and finished the commission I was talking about.
Here we are, hairy and muscle dudes wrestling, face-fucking each other and fusing in a double-headed creature. It's astonishing how many fetishes I share with this dude.
It looks like something I made out of passion, not for satisfying a client.
I hope you like this fantasy feti...

Sorry guys, currently I can't give you a proper schedule for this week, I'll post something, but I don't know in which order.
This good girl died this afternoon (16 years old, hit by a car) and I'm still very confused and sad.
See you soon.
Okay guys, I warn you that, due to this pretty heavy commission and the approaching of may, I will delay SkyHorn Adventures' updates to the next week. In the meanwhile I will publish my mermen and let you vote on which will ones will be the species of SkyHorn Island.
Hope you will be appreciate this sop :-)

It goes without saying, the first one that you'll choose will become your companion for the rest of the adventure. The other two will find their own way out of this situation. So don't worry.
And, yeah, daddy 'rilla is a classy dude who doesn't use swearwords. Especially the less creative ones.
Which one we will save?

Siren is actually the term roman languages use to translate mermaid, intended as the female gender of this fantasy race.
Quite funny, because in Greek mythology Sirens were, like mermaids, marine creatures known for enchanting seamen with their songs, but they were feathered.
Like harpies, but they were hot, while harpies openly described as ugly crones.
Patron reward for Nik S, who wanted something regarding classic mermen, and inadvertently prompted me to start 2020 Mermay with a serious effort.
Well, because my passion for Greek mythology makes me mad when it comes to "mermaids."
"Mermen" are often considered a modern declination of a folkloristic figure that should have been mono-gender. Like female orcs or male fairies.
Well, that's maybe true for Nordic mythology or even Mediterranean ...

Ok, that was kind of a low blow: before posting the pool for the switch of the PoV character, I didn't show you that the tribe of the paleo dudes is a mixed group of feral humans and bats. I'm sorry.
I hope that you will like the companionship of the gorilla character. Here shown, in the night of the shipwreck, in all his almighty strength and personality.
BTW, yeah, mixed tribe. Specism in this world doesn't exist because the author finds...
2020-04-12 17:22:48 +0000 UTC View PostSo guys, if you don't yet know, there's this thing called Mermay, a May art challenge that has merfolk as their inspirational subject. I always wanted very badly to participate to this challenge with a decent amount of decent pics, so I decided to prepare them per time and involve you.
From Monday I will post (almost) every day a concept for a mer-something, I prepared 12 of them, and you'll get to decide which one is the best and will be the kind of oceanic hunk that inhabit the waters of...
Hey guys, due to this coronavirus craze (don't worry, I'm fit as a fiddle) my schedule got screwed again, and now I have to work at my laptop that's not good at displaying colors.
It's a page with a lot of characters and a designed background, so I don't want to waste my efforts with a dull color choice.
So I decided to wait and post two pages Sunday, the last of the first chapter and the first one of the second.
So, be patient, have a happy Easter and remember to don't touc...

ome lore here. There is a lot of expository dialogue that I had to cut out just because it didn't fit in the yet crowded page.
And it would have covered my efforts in making a more colorful and flashy illustration than usual.
I wanted a more blurred and kind of mystical representation but I made the error of starting from the lineart, but I won't repeat the error the next time.
This is to say that's not the definitive design of the Father Dragons...

Unexpected because my uncle, who is doing me a solid, had the brilliant idea to do it a week earlier, with the Siberian wind howling outside, and maybe tonight I may have to sleep on the couch because the paint in my bedroom will still be wet.

Sorry guys, I have to postpone the new page to tomorrow, in the meanwhile I post a page from my re-composition of the previous panels in a comic layout. Enjoy!
My statement about replanning the previous panels in a printable version of SkyHorn's Adventures isn't an empty promise. But I'm working on that, giving priority to the new pages, of course.

Yeah, you guessed it. I decided to play both the options. I set a precedent that will haunt me for the rest of this project, but this time I felt it was needed: the "switch the brothers" option won with a very small margin, and most of all, my bigger patrons voted for the "complete bottom option." So I had to find a compromise, to make their bigger support value something, 'till I publish the edited version of this comic.
Both win, no?
