Moral of the Story - To Where and Back Again

Greetings,

Thus, we bring season six to a close.  It was a great ride, capped off by one of the most thematically inclusive season finales I have ever seen.  "To Where and Back Again" calls upon lessons learned through more than half of season six and thus several other episodes from previous seasons by extension.  In this edition of Moral of the Story, I'd like to show you how they all connect even when they seem to contradict each other and remind everyone listening...

I've been down on my luck for too long and looking for any way to turn it around.  Upon receiving a warning that the changeling forces are regrouping and reading for another assault, I took the chance to test my photography and espionage skills.  Unfortunately, just as eve...

You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch (Brawny Buck cover)

Merry Christmas everyone!

Here's a cover of "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" in the style of Thur Ravenscroft.  As requested by The Kanbazia on Patreon.  Thanks to him for his support in making this video possible.

Thanks also to Sasha Lace who did the mixing, somehow making it work despite my choice of instrumental.

Moral of the Story - Where the Apple Lies

Greetings,

In today's edition of Moral of the Story, we're going to take a look at the consequences of solving a problem through dishonesty in it's most basic form - as it was presented in "Where the Apple Lies."

I'm also going to discuss the implications of assisting others in their lies and how you can potentially share responsibility for someone's actions when you're involved and choose to remain complacent.

For the most part, I liked the way that the moral...

In retrospect, I do wish I had found a better way to get out of that hospital that wasn't straight to the ground from the third-story window. Ouch.

This episode had me genuinely frustrated and even a tad confused. Mostly because there's nothing I hate worse than a liar. So while there were a lot of funny parts, my experience was mostly face-palming at every blatant lie. Also, can we please get some backstory on their parents? With an episode like this, it has officially become neces...

Moral of the Story - Pony Point of View

Greetings,

Today let's revisit the issue of proper communication in problem solving and the damage that we can do by holding grudges. "Pony Point of View" showed us exactly what it means to examine situations from multiple perspectives and gave some vague suggestions on how to deal with differing interpretation of the people and events involved.

Really, all we need is patience and communication. We need to trust our friends to be honest with us. Make your inte...

Did I ever mention how much I hate open waters?  I can barely swim and that I can't fly away from it and there's too many things that could be lurking even just below the surface.  But that's not going to stop be from trying to get the perfect shot.

I loved this episode's moral and it was hilarious all the way through.  However, I was a little disappointed in the ending.  It felt anti-climactic.  I honestly think it would have been better if we never found o...

Moral of the Story - Every Little Thing She Does

Greetings,

"Every Little Thing She Does" reminded us of the importance of being honest as well as showed us what happens when we try to force friendship.  In this video, I talk about what it means to force friendship and show how Starlight Glimmer has been guilty of this in each of it's main forms.

I also revisit the topic of fear and anxiety to elaborate on the consequences it can have interpersonally if we let ourselves be controlled by it.

You can imagine that was especially shocking to me on account of I can't swim. Also, taking a hydraulic pile-driver onto a concrete fountain is pretty unpleasant on my already bad back.

I spent most of my time watching this episode initially somewhere between a startled gasp and laughing my tail off. The implications of making a live bird from an apple and brainwashing spells are just too much for me.

However, there is a pretty interesting lesson in this that I can't wait to tell you guy...

Moral of the Story - Viva Las Pegasus

Greetings,

Today I'd like to revisit the topic of falsifying friendship for your own personal gain. We've seen something similar in "Twilight Time", "Twilight's Kingdom" and "Princess Spike." But this time, we see what happens when we fail to be truthseekers and allow ourselves to lose faith in our loved ones.

I also talk about how we can likely solve this for when you may find yourself in this situation as well as how to prevent it from happening in the first place.

This is why I don't like arcades. They suck you in with moderate amounts of fun made to seem better by enticing prizes that are impossible to achieve. Next thing you know, you've wasted a whole day and a ton of money on one game.

I'm definitely with Applejack and Fluttershy as far as the appeal of big cities that focus more on parties and night life. I wanted nothing to do with that kind of scene even before I ended up working in it for three years. I still have nightmares.

Moral of the Story - The Fault in our Cutie Marks

Greetings,

In today's edition of Moral of the Story, let's talk about the importance of finding your purpose as well as some good techniques for doing so and what to do once you've found it.

In addition, keep in mind that you were put on this planet for the reason I state at the beginning of the video - to serve a purpose that betters the world around you.
This is important to remember for those who haven't yet found a cutie mark of their own yet. If you come to a conclusion th...

I think the better question is how the heck Sohma manage to grow a banana that big and what state of mind she must exist in to think that making it into a boat was a good idea.

I had a lot of fun watching this episode. It was only slightly detracted by the fact that while watching it, I was a little on edge with the idea that they might throw the lore through another loop and give Gabby a cutie mark. I would have had to call shenanigans on a pretty severe level.

Regardless, it was ...

Moral of the Story - Buckball Season

Greetings,

I've done some pretty cool things, if I do say so myself. But they certainly weren't all positive. Today, I'd like to tell you about a mistake I often made as a sports coach which relates to the scenario of "Buckball Season." This being that even if a method of coaching and motivating your friends or students is effective, it is not universally applicable. When the stakes are low, it is important to understand how to be empathetic and see exactly HOW you should motivate those y...

Goldenfox: "Game on."

Admittedly, that was some pretty poor sportsmanship on my part.

I found this episode interesting throughout and it kept me guessing as to who was going to play the game as well as the result. I really liked the idea of Snails being zen. Whether or not Snails achieved this state intentionally is (although unlikely) ultimately beyond me.

Although a lot of people have been comparing the moral to that of "The Cart Before The Ponies", I think there's some d...

Moral of the Story - Dungeons and Discords

Greetings,

Today's lesson builds on a few lessons we've gone over before. From "Make New Friends But Keep Discord", "Scare Master" and "28 Pranks Later", we examine why it's important to keep your ego in check while making new friends and trying something new. I also talk about the potential consequences in surrounding yourself with the wrong type of person and trying to manipulate others around you.

Be sure to let me know what you think.

This is why we shouldn't let me play tabletop RPGs. I thought we went over this back when I reviewed Ponyfinder. My base instinct is going to be to make the goofiest thing possible with the base character stats and see how many people I can annoy through the whole time.
Also, at what point is it a good idea to bring a sword with "unwieldable" in its title to a fight with a boss character? I guess it's a good thing that Finn has such good luck on those dice. The last time I played Ponyfind...

Moral of the Story - The Times They Are A Changeling

Greetings,

In this edition of Moral of the Story, I'd like to talk about "The Times They Are A Changeling", which can potentially serve as a reminder that regardless of how bad a group may seem, we should always treat people as individuals because we never know who will be an exception to the stereotypes. Even in groups or cultures who are known for being destructive in one way or another, these are simply a mass of individuals who are choosing to be this way and not realizing the import...

Unintentional racism!
As far as I know, nobody heard us talking. Why on God's green Earth would you drop your disguise like that?

It was a very interesting episode with a very complex moral that I'll get to in the next video. Mostly revolving around the fact that I can't tell if we should trust Thorax yet or not. It's still entirely possible this could backfire and the fact that they didn't acknowledge that fact makes me kind of nervous. It also makes the moral feel incomplete. But it ...

Moral of the Story - 28 Pranks Later

Greetings,

There's a right and a wrong way to prank someone as well as a right and wrong person to prank. Today I'd like to talk about the difference between these things, how to spot them and why it's important to heed the signs. As we can unintentionally do a lot of damage through this. Unless you intentionally do this type of damage to people. In which case, I have no sympathy for whatever consequences you face.

A lot of people believe this moral was hypocritical. The same way t...

A Prank to the Face [GONE WRONG] - 28 Pranks Later

There's a few acceptable ways to give someone a pie and none of them involve launching it in their face. Even if it wasn't annoying, it's a waste of pie.

While the previous episode "Cart Before The Ponies" had a questionable moral that a lot of people found annoying because of the way that the main six acted in it, I could still enjoy it for what it was. This episode, however, bored the heck out of me the first time I watched it. While there have only been a few other times I was certain ...

You see a lot of interesting things at conventions. I've probably been to somewhere between ten and fifteen. I have not once seen a ball pit. I heard about it at Dash-Con. But I think it's safe to say we all know what that was like.

The first half of this episode was surprisingly accurate to the congoing adventure. And I'm very surprised Quibble Pants didn't get his tail handed to him by Caballeron during all that squawking he did.

Moral of the Story - Spice Up Your Life

Greetings,

"Spice Up Your Life" gave me a lot to talk about. The lessons it presents weave into each other in a way that can make it difficult to see the transitions. But it touched on subjects of staying true to yourself, taking criticism, giving criticism, how to understand trends in culture, how to work with your surroundings. So in this installment, I'd like to talk about those.

I also take some time to explain how both Rarity's and Pinkie's methods for promoting the Tasty Tr...
