Some Facts About The Ocean

The biggest waterfall ever is in the Atlantic Ocean.

It's weird to think about, but  the biggest waterfall in the world isn't on land - it's in the ocean.  Seriously. The biggest waterfall is in the 2020-01-05 12:12:28 +0000 UTC View Post

Danielle Colby : Exploring The Coral

The world’s coral reefs, from the Great Barrier Reef off Australia to  the Seychelles off East Africa, are in grave danger of dying out  completely by mid-century unless carbon emissions are reduced enough to  slow ocean warming, a UNESCO study says.

And consequences could be severe for millions of people.

The decline of coral reefs has been well documented, reef by reef.  But the new...

Rebirth Into The New Year

As I look towards the new year I’m  strong in my resolve to live life to the fullest each day. My path is to learn to trust myself in tumultuous waters. To learn to respect the  process and practice patience and consistency. I have the capability of accomplish anything I desire but more importantly I have the opportunity  to help others achieve their dreams and goals as well. This new year will teach me many things and humble me in new and interesting ways, I’m...

10 Facts About The Ocean

1 The ocean is home to nearly 95 percent of all life.

With so much going on well below the surface, it's easy to forget that the oceans are teeming with life. In fact, 94 percent of life is aquatic, according to the USA Science & Engineering Festival. That means those of us who live on land are part of a very, very small minority.

2 Coral produces its own sunscreen.

Too much sunlight can damage the algae that live inside...

Here she is in all her glory!

Finally, the reveal of the entire Reefer Madness costume! This costume came about over years of sourcing and research. I tried out so many different pieces that I actually have 2 full green costumes now. I decided to make the second costume a Tropical Carmen Miranda style number. I will gladly show it off when it’s fully completed. The feather fans were hand made out of titanium marijuana shaped staves by Donna Touch in Chicago. Donna Touch is an incredible feather fan engineer and has a li...

Reefer Madness Headdress

Finding a headdress is always difficult, especially when you must perform a highly physical act on stage while trying to keep it on. When selecting this headdress, years ago, it was much smaller and more compact. When it was smaller it was much easier to travel with because it could fit inside my suitcase. Since I added another row of dark green feathers I have made the headdress massive. I wanted the effect but not The travel hassle. Currently when I perform in this costume I have to send th...

Floating Through The Weekend

Floating through the weekend in  La Parguera.

I know it’s only a rental but....

I will miss this house when we find our permanent place. I adore the neighborhood with its smoke shacks and coffee carts, not to mention the sounds from the Bomba music 🎶 floating through the inky black salt air. I have worked so hard to make it my own even if, for a short time. The scent of hibiscus and plumeria wafting through the courtyard as I give my plants a drink. It’s a special healing place. I’m thankful for my healing time here after my 2 weeks of road dog life each month. View Post

Not All Heroes Wear Capes...

As fictitious as superheroes are,  there’s some element of real-life truth behind why so many wore capes:  They were created to offer the wearer a layer of protection. But much  like all the other ubiquitous items that we take for granted today, it’s hard to trace the cape’s time or place of origin—though it’s widely believed that the ancient French word cloke stems from the Latin word cloca, which translates to cape.

Who Lives In A Pineapple Under The Sea?

Road dog diaries

Robbie and I spent the day picking in Wisconsin like we have for the last week. Wisconsin is always one of my favorite places to pick or just drive-through. The Rollinghills, the river, the bluffs, the beer, the cheese! Let’s face it it doesn’t matter what time of year it is, Wisconsin is just so damn beautiful! Robbie and I had to pull over to the side of the road to take a photo of the beautiful sunset. I always love to ride with Robbie. He gets so excited about life, even a sunset. He ...

Lunch time!

Did you know that we actually eat lunch together as a family every day? When we’re on the road, we have an RV that we travel with. At lunchtime, we stop down and enjoy local food from a mom-and-pop restaurant or sometimes we grill Brats but every day, we stop down at lunchtime and we all eat together. It is one of my favorite things about working with this crew. It’s time for us to reconnect in the middle of the day, get our spirits up, check in with each other make sure everybody is good...

Behind the Burly Q

Behind the Burly Q.... I just read it over and over again.... I lost my copy in the move so I just ordered another. I remember sitting on the beach outside my house in Chicago on warm sunny days bikini clad and sun blocked just drinking in the sun and history at the same time. It was so magical being in the city that was written about so much in this book. The city where Burlesque lived and breathed every night and every day, still does. Just like so many other marvelous cities around the wor...

On the road again!

Today was thoroughly exhausting in the most beautiful way. We picked in Shawano Wisconsin. A sleepy farm town in the Midwest just shy of Green Bay by 45 minutes. I can’t go into too much detail about the goings-on of filming for the day but I can tell you that the couple we picked from was great! They had a bunch of kittens on their property and we’re taking very good care of the feral cats outside. I noticed one little Tiger striped kitten that was limping a bit and our contributor told ...
