Boat Issues are expected...But camera issues?!

We've used our Canon 5D Mark IV as our main camera for a while now. It’s a great camera for both photos and for filming but we knew that we needed another one if we were going to have others film important moments. Having another point of view is awesome, we knew we'd be having guests so we decided to purchase this Canon XC-15, also known as our "drop camera".

Let's talk about power!!!

Not so long after we arrived in Grenada we took a trip back to the states to see family. Upon returning to the boat we found our beloved house battery bank had failed.

Who does the video editing and how does that work?

In short I would say that Jeremiah does...But let's get into a little more detail about that! 

The process really begins from the time you pick up the camera. Well, first you have to remember to actually pick it up! It's easy to forget to record something as it's happening. Especially it it's something worrisome. Once you do pick it up though, the footage needs to be good. If the footage isn’t good then Jeremiah can’t use it. Calypso Boat Party!

At the moment Calypso is glued to a dock waiting on her new battery bank before we can head back out to anchor. We happen to be right in the heart of Grenada which puts us in the perfect location for any events going on like Carnival! 

We decided to invite some fellow cruisers that we've met to our boat for a little gathering before one of the Carnival night parades. We had a total of 20 people on Calypso to share some drinks and appetizers with us! That's the most people we've eve...

The summer has come to an end...

We've been a bit quiet this week and I'd like to take a moment to explain why...It was Trevor's last week with us after spending just about two months of his summer break enjoying Calypso. We decided that we would take the week to enjoy some quality family time and we did just that! 

Trevor left this past weekend just before Grenada's epic Carnival started. If you haven't heard of it then you should look it up. It's been insane over here, but we are so lucky to be able to enjoy it ...

Hash'in it out in Grenada

Last Saturday we joined in and became a part of the Grenada Hash Harriers. Basically they describe themselves as runners with a drinking problem that get together every Saturday and hash it out! They usually have a group of 150 - 300 people ranging through all ages participate in a walk or run along different trails through Grenada each week.

Transformers...More than meets the eye!

Good morning! 

I wanted to take a moment to share what's been happening since arriving in Grenada...Let's jump right in! 

A few months ago I reserved a slip at Secret Harbor Marina here in Grenada. We arrived about a week ago and motored into our new marina! Shortly after we pulled on the dock we were told that there wasn't any working water or power which was a bit surprising, we were told differently when we booked. Going out on the town "Yachtie style"

Before heading off the dock in Palm Coast, Florida we purchased some Calypso shirts. You might have seen them in the episode where we sign the documents for the boat. 

We actually got them due to a Patrons recommendation. The idea was that we'd wear these shirts when arriving to a new port while we were down island. The shirts would help create the illusion that we were simply crew aboard Calypso which would help with being overcharged fees and such as we checked into countries. It...

Amazing visit with some Patrons!

A few weeks ago we were contacted by some our Patrons about their upcoming trip to St. Lucia, it just so happened that we ended up here at the same time!! 

We were so delighted to have Jason and Rachel aboard Calypso for a few sundowners and great conversation the other night. They were so nice and we just loved them. 

Funny thing was that the next day we got up, dropped the lines and sailed south along the coast of St. Lucia which was an absolutely amazing sail...We gra...

Finding Seclusion

The BVI's are full of many different little spots to stop, grab a mooring ball but they are lacking areas to drop the hook. Anchoring is discouraged, the BVI have installed mooring balls in almost every location. Some say it's to protect the reefs, some say it's to make money (they charge each boat $30 per night to use the balls). We found mooring balls over both reefs and sand...So it's probably a little of both. 

We were so excited when we found this little anchorage. It's off an...
