Football glossary: End-to-end football. A period in a game characterised by high levels of chance creation at alternating ends of the pitch. 'It's like watching basketball!' A reminder that an end is one side of the stadium. Famous footballing ends include the Stretford End (Manchester United), the Gallowgate End (Newcastle), and the bellend (Luis Suarez).

I crashed into the saloon; everyone turned to look at me. The pianist stopped playing, the barman thought to himself, 'here's trouble.' No-one went for their shooter - good. No need for bloodshed today.
I spat on the wooden floor and moseyed on over to a table at the back.
"Howdy, pardners," I said.
"Hi, Max, how you doing?" said Rachel, wife of Mateo. "You look well!"
I chewed on my tobacco and spat anoth...

Emma drove us to south Manchester while I chose the tunes. The first few songs were upbeat bangers that gave a sense of propulsion and fun. Holiday Road and Happy into Highway Star. I planned a controlled descent from there to The Stone Roses, but ended up letting The Black Keys play.
I closed my eyes and reflected.
My 2025-2026 season was over. Had it ...
2025-01-17 13:18:20 +0000 UTC View PostHey, sorry for this but it's 3 am and I'm only about 70% of the way through the next chapter. Let's pop it back a day so I can do it properly.
I know this has been happening a lot recently but I got the idea for the concept fairly late. The idea is an absolute banger. Just incredibly satisfying, to me at least. Whether I can do it justice is another question but I'd like a bit of time to cook on this particular one.
Tuesday morning without fail!

Transcript of the Chester Fans Trust End of Season Special Meeting
On stage: Boggy (Seals Live host and lifelong Chester fan); Max Best (Director of Football, player, brat.)
Boggy: Okay, ready to start. Max, we're on video and we have to assume children are watching.

[Audience: laughter.]
Boggy: Max, please.
Max: No, you're right. Which camera i...
2025-01-10 15:18:40 +0000 UTC View PostHi all,
Over the weekend I had to finish the proofs of book 6 for the publishers, plus I'm generally just a fraction behind and out of sync at the mo. I will have a good draft ready by tonight but then I want to get cheeky and add a few more [chapter titles] in.
You'll understand what I mean pretty quickly. Don't expect a mammoth chapter but sometimes small ones are more juicy.
Hasta manana!

Welcome to Wrexham is a good show. Some 'proper football men' don't like what they call the Disneyfication of the sport: chopping it into bits and rearranging it to make it palatable to a wider audience, setting it to sappy music, cutting to shots of Ryan Reynolds looking sad and empathetic.
My take was that viewers would come for the fun underdog story, stay for the characters, and a year later find themselves yelling at full backs to 'hit the fucking channels'.<...

Red Army Discord: Always Bet on Best
ButteryCrumpets
All right, lads. Pay attention. Absolutely massive game for Chester today and it looks pretty chaotic in the betting markets. No bugger seems to be able to make head nor tail of it.
On the one hand you've got Chester, third in the table, flying, scoring goals for fun.
You've got Colchester down near the bottom, fighting for t...

2024-12-09 12:47:24 +0000 UTC View PostHi all,
Hate to do this but has to be done!
Because I went nuts on the last chapter (and then the Discord pointed out a big dumb mistake I spent Tuesday morning fixing...!) plus a bit of low-level sickness, some simply insane road resurfacing outside (it's December! Is it just me or is that bonkers? Also they keep finding burst pipes and have to dig up what they just put back. If they're doing it because they're paid by the day, hats off, seriously) - and blah blah blah.
But...
