Resin axe update! As y’all know, we’ve been working for a while on a lava resin axe. We recently made resin “lava rocks” and now they’re embedded in the axe handles along with some clear resin.

But since a) we’ve never tried to make resin look like lava, b) we bought some new glow powder, and c) we didn’t wanna mess up all the work we put into making those rocks, we thought we’...

Hey everyone! So the good news is we have everything prepped for our “testing your Bad DIY ideas” video we’re working on and we’ve chosen our 5 ideas. From left to right:

Needle felting reveal! (SPOILER)

Hey y’all! Needle felting was so much fun and so chill. It definitely falls into the category of cozy craft. Cozy craft with a lot of finger pokes… haha. In the end, I was the only one who actually drew blood :P But our little creatures turned out so cute! And good thing we learned how to needle felt because we’ll be tackling it again soon as one of the “Bad DIYs” submitted to us… more news on that in the next post! -K

Let’s Try Needle Felting!

We’ve never tried needle felting before but anytime I see anything needle felted it looks so freaking cute, and needle felting time lapses are super satisfying to watch. 

So when we found a kit to do little needle felted plants we grabbed it up, along with a bunch of supplies because my husband gets really into new projects and has access to amazon so you know how it is… Jokes aside, ...

Wooooo you guys IT WORKED! Evan’s set up worked sooooo well for the Bob Ross keycaps and they turned out way better than expected!

We've chosen "bad DIY's" to try!

A few days ago we posted on all the socials asking everyone to submit bad DIY ideas to try and y'all we got SO MANY GOOD ONES. Like good as in bad. I'm so excited. I think we finally narrowed it down to our top 3-5 to tackle for the video but there were truly SO many good ones we might have to tackle more of them in future videos.

We’re gonna try a Bob Ross tutorial on a keycap!

Yes… a very very very tiny Bob Ross painting is in our future. I’m telling ya, this is our idea of a good time! 👏👏👏 But it does present some technical challenges. Like, how do we paint something meant for a 18x24 inch canvas onto a .5x.5 inch canvas, AND how do we film it in a way that y’all can see our progress?? Luckily, Evan found a solution:

An update on our investigation (Mini Vlog 61)

*SPOILER* Reverse Tie Dye Reveals

Hello! We mentioned in Mini Vlog 60 (from a couple weeks ago) that we were going to try reverse tie dying for the first time, where  you bleach dye something and then tie dye over that. Filming underwater is difficult in unexpected ways (Underwater Basket Aftershow)

This project ended up being much more challenging than we expected! Mostly physically haha. In this Aftershow we cover:

SPOILER ALERT! Very expensive basket reveal

WOW… we’ve done a few videos that felt like we were going through some sort of physical trial, but weaving baskets underwater is definitely up there! We don’t want to spoil too much but in the end, we DID make baskets 🤣 I feel like I somewhat got us into this, and while in some ways choosing this video made NO sense, it was fun overcoming all the challenges of a project like this. Hopefully the edit turns out ok 😀 -E

Underwater basket weaving update

We tested the gear (Snuba system, underwater mics/cameras/tripods) and we should be good to go on the tech front! The main difficulty is the audio during our test ended up being a little hot and crispy (we’re still figuring out how to dial in the underwater audio) so after some deliberating, we decided to film like a “poolside chat” scene afterward where we kinda talk about the experience of testing the equipment, and hopefully it can be intercut with the footage of us underwater so at ...

Well we were thinking about our experience with the underwater livestream a couple years ago and were like, what other underwater projects could we film? And we decided “why not try literally underwater basket weaving!” So… here we are haha.

Resin Pumpkin 2022 - mega update!

We owe you guys a BIG update because we’ve been working on this year’s attempt to preserve a carved pumpkin in resin - and we haven’t shared any updates yet! We actually started it late September because it’s a project that needs a lot of time (both for resin curing, and to give us time to see if the pumpkin changes after it’s in resin)

So what’s the plan this year? Well we are taking it to an extreme and embedding it in a 12”x10”x11” cube of solid resin

After having so much fun filming Evan doing my makeup, I thought it would be fun to do my actual makeup routine since people do ask about it a lot, and it would show Evan how I really do things compared to how he tried it.
