Hello!
Josh has been having playing with drawing in a different style on his iPad (he usually draws everything the traditional way, using a pen and watercolour). I thought those drafts were really cool - they're so different from his usual style, yet somehow retain his "touch"! See for yourself:

Last week when I went out to get bread, I was practically tripping over birds! In the space of about 20 minutes I saw ELEVEN (!!) species of birds! (!!!) Most of them winter in the area and none of them are particularly rare, but I was sort of floored by the biodiversity that can exist within a city. It also made me realize that I pay a lot more attention to life around me than I used to.
I saw:
Chickadees
Crows
Hairy woodpecker
White-breasted nuthatch
Robins (a tree ...

I said you could look forward to a bunny comic this past weekend, but it's taking longer to paint the bunny than expected! Josh spent all day on it today (and a bunch during the weekend too) and I think he's just really enjoying painting a million different little lines. He drew this one bigger than his usual comics just so he could spend more time on the art.
So, I thought I'd give you an update on how the painting is going :) I think he's doing a great job on the hair, this bunn...

Good morning folks!
Today I'd like to continue the series on documenting the process Joshua goes through to create comics. For reference here are the previous posts about the rhythm, sketches and dialogue and about his workspace!
How do comics start? Josh will generally have a general idea of wh...

Hi everyone!
Josh has been drawing with a friend over the past few weekends, and they have started doing an exercise where they have only 3 minutes to draw. He has really been enjoying this exercise so he's been doing it all week, and his sketches are super cool, I thought you'd like them too!

This past weekend, it was February 1st. Like every year, this meant that it was Hourly Comic Day! And like every year, Josh had forgotten about it until the morning of. Haha!
He hasn't always followed it (it can be hard to clear out a whole day to just improv-draw when you haven't planned to), but this year he did, and I'm so glad! I love seeing these little snapshots of our life, seeing the moments he picks and how he translates them into his unique art style. Most of all, I love...

Josh has started properly designing the images that you voted on, and that will go on T-Shirts this year. It's still a work-in-progress, but I'm so excited to see them that I wanted to show you while he's working on them. Here's the bunny with detailed lining:

And above is a sketch concept more the "make time" finch. I can't wait to see them once they're finished đ
Also, in case ...

Hi friends!
We hope everyone had nice holidays! Josh is getting back into the swing of things and coming into the new year keen on trying different techniques and media because he likes to switch things up. I'll let him explain:
I usually draw black lines (the outline of characters, speech bubbles and dialogue, and some shading) with a wooden holder and old nibs I found at a garage sale a number of years ago. It makes nice clean lines, and I'm very comfortable with itâI hardly e...

We loved reading all your comments on your encounters with wildlife last week! Thank you so much for sharing with us, that was really fun and adorable. I can already tell it's going to be hard to pick winners. Good thing there are many prizes đ
This week's "contest" is inspired by Josh's most recent comic:

So, someone brought to our attention that doing giveaways and raffles are actually against Patreon's terms of service. Because of the nature of a raffle, it's essentially a lottery, which promotes gambling, and is therefore not permitted here. BUT! We still want to give away fun prizes at the end of the month, so we have to change the format a bit. Winning can't be dependent on chance, &nb...

Hi! Today's #ThankYouPatrons day! So Josh made this little comic.
However, when talking about it together, that didn't seem enough of a thank you. So he decided to organize a ⨠giveaway ⨠to thank you for your support!! IMPORTANT EDIT: This is not a simple giveaway anymore, as it is against Patreon's terms of service. Instead, all patrons can participate no matter the pledge, and winner will be chosen by Josh based on the comments left by patrons. Here are the prize...

Hi folks!
A short update this week. Josh's been working on an owl comic. It's almost done... Here are some try-out painting and sketches he's made (it's going to be a colourful one!)

I don't want to ruin the laugh for you so I won't show you the comic itself! It should be published on Monda...

Helloooo Patrons!
Inktober is finally over (Josh is working on the last one, a Bobcat, right now). If you haven't seen them, you can find all his drawings on his Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts. This year was great and I hope you've been having as much fun as we have with all the prompts. A funny consequence of letting you choose the prompts is that Josh has really improved at drawing fur, which is awesome!
We've finally received the tank tops (which we were waitin...

The final Inktober prompts are here, and they're great! I'm really proud of Josh because he hasn't fallen behind or dropped the challenge this year, despite setting a really high bar for himself (he can be a bit of a perfectionist, and those lines are time-consuming). It's exciting to see him set time aside every day to draw. Having animals as prompts, and knowing that you all were involved in the process has definitely helped make it exciting and novel. We're so glad you were all so keen to ...

We're halfway through October, which means the trees are putting on a magnificent colour show here in Southern Ontario, and that Josh is almost halfway done with Inktober! It's taking a lot of time (~3h each day) but he says it's really good practice for black and white paintings, and that he's already seeing himself improve.
I hope you're enjoying his drawings, and if you do, you should also check out the hashtag #falsetober on Instagram - a few artists have chos...

Our cat Caxi stole the show during the filming of this draw, for your enjoyment!
Without further ado, here are the next prompts that Josh will draw:

Thank you to everyone that has submitted prompts! We love them!! You're making this so fun. Please enjoy this video of a nervous Josh (he doesn't love being on camera) drawing 7 species for this week's prompts.
As a reminder - we'll keep all the prompts that have not been drawn yet for the rest of the month, but you can keep submitting ideas if you want, we'll keep adding them!

Whoa! Two updates in TWO DAYS?!
Well, Josh and I were chatting last night, and we got on the topic of Inktober, which starts next week. For those who donât know, Inktober is a month-long artistic challenge where people commit to drawing something everyday according to a predefined list of prompts. Josh has done it for the past 3 years (or attempted to, haha. He didnât quite finish last year...). He doesnât often part with original art, but for Inktober he...

Hi FK fans!
Wow, we got close to a 100 voters on the TShirts- that's awesome!! We kept checking the tally through the week, and it looks like several designs were really neck-to-neck. I'm happy to announce the winning designs that will make it to TShirts in the coming months:
- "I'll burn this city down" Crow made it first by a landslide (I can't wait to see it on a shirt!)
- "Beautiful fucking day" Rabbit
- House Wren and Flowers

Hi Patrons!
It's been a hectic few weeks here at False Knees Corp. I got really sick with a stomach bug for a week, and Josh has been suffering from tendonitis in his wrist for the past month, which is really scary for an artist! I think it's mostly due to the Apple mouse he's been using, which is stylish, but it may be time to get him an ergonomic mouse. On top of all this, we've been renovating our kitchen for the past 2 months, and that's a pretty chaotic ordeal. We're sick of takeou...

Hello Patrons!! â¤ď¸
Last week, Josh was out on a fishing trip in Northern Ontario with some of his family. As you might have guessed from his comics, he is quite the animal lover, so he didn't fish much - but he made tons of paintings while he was on the boat! To make these he went straight to paint - no sketching.
