Lorrnath Race - Preview

I managed to learn enough about a publishing program to put together a preview of a race page like that found in the D&D 5e Player's Handbook.  I've always liked the mix of 'tome' and 'clean enough to read' that they use.  Plus the little tidbit of showing where a race might live as well as what they look like.

The art isn't quite up to their level, but it shows off a bit of what the Lorrnath page might look like if in a book like that.

I'm still working on finishing off th...

Lukotorix - Runepriest of Korrune

The Lorrnath only have a handful of their own Gods.  During the wars of Blood Ruin they were fooled into believing they were winning their freedom not only from the Indorillian proclaimed 'Mage Kings' but from their own Gods if they chose to drive them from their temples and even past the Celestial gates themselves.

When the Blood Ruin ended, with the Indorai going into exile, and the other mortal races each dividing into their own territories, and re-connecting with their gods, the Lorrn...

Patreon have reversed their decision

With a HUGE sigh of relief, I'm happy to let my patrons know that Patreon have apologized and are reversing their decision to start charging you all a fee on your patronage here.  Thus any pledge will still only cost you what it says on the tin.  No tax, no percentage on top.

They have a lot of trust to rebuild with both their creators and patrons alike.  And I'm not going to stop looking around for alternatives as a backup.  This was a bit of a wake-up call that one site's...

Updates.

I had to take the weekend off to think about the recent ham-fisted moves by Patreon over the last week.  They've been essentially keeping their heads in the sand and not clarifying anything further, so most people on the system are made to just come up with their own theories as to what is happening.

I had to step away from the hyperbolic ramping up of a wall of theories and text and screaming to figure out what I can do.  I needed to figure out if I had any other avenues open...

Felwroth Places - Galcaerrow Mine

The wake of Whiterook's ruin rippled far, far into the interior of the Aegencald.  Fertile lands became twisted mockeries of broken-stemmed wheat fields riddled with Scythe-men, the metal harvest golems, now rusting in place where they last worked.

When the rampant wake hit the Galcaerrow Mine the humans and dwarves abroad and in its depths pondered the event as an earthquake, but the trees seemed to whisper long howls and groan in a sky that was becoming deeper, more tenebrous and ominou...

Update on the Feepocalypse

I'm currently awake when I shouldn't be due to a freight train of a headache after the last couple days.  However I wanted to get this posted as soon as I'd learned about it.

A more clear, less 'bubbly whee happy' explanation was posted to the Patreon blog explaining why they went with a new model of payments.  Please take it with a grain of salt, of course, we're talking about a corporate entity here.

You can find the update here: 2017-12-08 02:17:26 +0000 UTC View Post

Addendum to the last post

Folks, please do feel free to contact Patreon to discuss this with them too.   Please be civil, as I know you all are good peeps, but if you have concerns let them know too.  I've sent a letter their way outlining why I don't like the current proposals of payment changes.

Thank you all again for the support, past and present.  I'll keep folks posted on anything that comes up.

Attention: Patreon's Patron changes.

Hey all,

I hate that I have to write something like this, but I need to warn you all of an e-mail that I've received from Patreon this morning that involves patrons paying a 'fee' for pledging to creators.

Patreon states in this e-mail that its to 'help creators take home more', meaning I will only have to pay a 5% fee to Patreon, instead the usual 10% to 12% that also goes to Paypal.

I personally find this utterly unacceptable.  I do NOT support charging a 'fee' to peo...

Felwroth Personalites - Ellyjoybell

The city of Whiterook stood empty for centuries.  Generations came and passed as the once bright spires turned to rot and chalk.  It was the origin of the devastation that seeped out for miles in all directions.  An abyssal withering that settled into every living and non-living thing and warped every form.

As surrounding towns started to fall, people started to flee to the south, east, and west.  Those that fled West perished while clawing the iron walls of the Dwarven kin...

November Ramble-rabble

It hit me today that November is almost over.  In fact, the YEAR is almost over.  Its been a blur.  Its all streaked by, yet parts of it feel like a practical joke that went too far and have taken on abstract qualities.  Its a very strange thing to watch from the sidelines, but if you blink, you miss it.

I've hit a better middle ground between taking a day off each week, and getting art out the door, though in the last month and a half my sketch-time has suffered due to som...

Behold, The Fluttering (Nudity)

I had a lot of fun with the colour portion of this.  I wanted to try and figure out a nice 'very early sunset' look for this.  Just before the sun turns that gold on the horizon, where there is a very slight 'pink' tint to the sky.

I rummaged a bunch of reference for figuring out how the sky colours and overall colours would look.  My photo-library is getting to the point where I'll need to back it up again I think.

The pair featured, Cinders and Lyssiah, have been friends...

Behold, The Fluttering (First colour ink pass)

I've finally got time between a rampant amount of appointments this week to re-tweak the inks of this picture, and do a 'first colour ink' pass, setting up shadows and very general light direction/temperature.

This was one of the images I had hoped to have finished before all the snow hit, but later is better than never.  Lyssiah and Cinders wandering the field on the outskirts of town, finding one of the many Nightlights (butterflies that glow) fluttering haphazardly towards them.

Bloody Mary (Patron Sketch for October)

I was kindly given permission to post a half-resolution image of the Patron sketch for October.  The character herself is a creation of Charly Dunst and a perfect subject for the 'Most Spooky of the Spooky months'.

I mean, you can't go wrong with a creature of annihilation wearing a blood-tank on her back.  If that doesn't say 'Halloween Month' I don't know what does.

Speaking of the autumn, I have a couple more images of the 'falling leaves' category to finish and post.  ...

Oh. Hello Winter..

It snowed here at the literal end of Halloween.  We kind of went from a gentle fall turning into spooky late fall to immediate and angry winter.  Minus 20 degree temperatures the day after it was mildly warm.

Cinders tries not to hate any season.. But she's not exactly pleased that Winter seemed to barge in, eat from the buffet with it's hands, and triple-dipped all of it's chips into the onion dip.

Mrs. Squeakerface seems to be enjoying the sudden change in seasons at least. View Post

Events.

I'll be on a slight leave of absence for a few days (It should be more than two or three).  Got some bad news yesterday and its a bit of a scramble to handle things here.

I'll try to answer some email/note/comments today, but won't be around to say much or post much until maybe Nov. 2 or 3rd depending on circumstances.

I didn't get as much fall art done as I'd liked.  Its unfortunate, but I guess the season doesn't end just because Halloween ends.  I've got a couple things...

Ajaatu (Inks, slight NSFW) - October 17th

Not sure why this image came very easily.  Only a couple slight revisions had to be done.  The more I ink away at this guy, the more I want to build a whole story around him.

There's a certain loneliness to the Javarran who take up the mantle of seer and sentinel.  They live between two worlds, but sometimes feel like they are a part of neither.  Ferrymen and women for the departed and those still departing, and confidants to the whispers of stone, oak, and the living natur...

Once upon time. Spook.

October is half over.  I'm actually saddened by this.  Its my favorite month, and already the trees are getting more and more bare.  It is getting cooler though, and the nights are that wonderful grey with breezes that blow leaves around, giving a 'Sleepy Hollow' vibe.

Since its mid way through the month, I've sent out the next patron sketch note to the next person on the list.  After taking last month off I'm actually really looking forward to sketching something out for s...

Ajaatu (sketch, slight nsfw) - October 14th

I had hoped to start 'wolf month' far earlier in September.  Best laid plans tend to be dictated by the randomness of life though.  But its never too late for bark.

Ajaatu is a spirit sentinel.  A shaman that can see the veil between life and death, and even see those that cross each boundary when he wishes to.

Pausing in a ruin of a human kingdom long past, the battles are written in the ether, whispers of the lost catching just the edge of attention.

Ber Brooms - October 8th.

Finally moved everything over to the desktop.  The Laptop is still 'not quite right in the head' so I'll be making sure everything is backed up.

That said, I started doodling an idea of Cinders buying a 'magic broom' from a market.  Sh'e not quite sure about it.  But hey, the sale's pitch is great!

Should have some of the painting previews to show over the next week, plus map-stuff! (and probably even more equine people.  Tis harvest season after all).

Slight Delay Ahead

Just a heads up that there will be a slight delay in art being released.  I had another fairly catastrophic hardware failure on my portable workstation.

Will be porting everything over from the backup drive to my desktop over the next two or three days (Its a LOT of stuff) and running software setup.

This shouldn't affect the next patron sketch (will send out the notice Oct 15th barring any further tech explosions).

Sorry for the delay, folks.
