Spook!

Its October already! (Seriously.. Did September even exist?  I don't remember any of it).  In celebration of the month of spook I figured I'd show off the side project I was noodling around with.  Maps of various places in the realm.

I actually had a lot of trouble figuring out how to do game-style maps again after years of mostly just scribbling out a 'stick figure' version in ball-point on note paper (Likely an hour before the game as well, because why be prepared...

Just a short update!  Along with the arty bits that I'm doing trying to get some autumn pictures out as well, including leefs, a few more wolves, and a few more neighs (Yes, non-Cinders ones too!), I'm going to be folding in some map-work that I've been doing as well.

I know most folks might not be gamers, but the maps themselves can more represent a layout of what some of the places in the world might look like.  In the theme of 'Spook' for October, I'll be posting a map of a place ...

The Neigh Nook

Spent the day putting some simple inks and refinements on the 'Neigh Nook' picture.  I decided to extend the canvas at the bottom as her hooves were touching the bottom edge of the picture (which is actually not a good thing to do as it creates a bad tangent).  So she has a bit more of a walk, and a street with some leefs in it.

Hoping to get this coloured soon-ish.  Days are still taken up with a lot of else-work.  hasn't been a bad start to the fall.  The leaves are ...

The Neigh Nook - September 21st.

This one was bouncing around in my head for quite a while.  Cinders' shop of curiosities called 'The Neigh Nook'. 

It started out as a more cartoon driven sketch but I wanted to add a lot more depth to it the more I went along.  Sort of a 'cartoon' look with a really decent and detailed background.

And falling leefs, of course.

I'll be doing a ink and colour treatment to this one too I think.  I don't know yet if I'll go full 'painter' on it or leave it as a sor...

Skarshoal Tower - Sept. 18th

A quick illustration of one of the areas of Felwroth that I had in my head for years now.

Felwroth boasts airships.  I've always loved the idea of ships that wander the lanes of air as quiet traffic, carrying anything from cargo to kings.  Dotted around the world are these stopover points called skytowers.

Time of the Leefs

Its a pretty lovely fall here this year.  Leaves are slowly turning to yellow all around, and the weather has _finally_ stopped being absurdly warm.  I'm hoping to get more 'autumn' art put out soon.

I did want to give a heads up to all my patrons that the patron sketch for this month sadly has to be pushed back to next month.  My father has a medical procedure coming up, and I've been a caregiver for him for years now.  While its not a major procedure, at his age any kind ...

It hit 32C here today, and I've fallen a bit behind as I'm still working on a cover for an RPG.  I figured it was a good opportunity to start doing sketch-work again since doing colour in the studio would have been a nightmare today.

This started as a little sketch and turned into a whole thing!  Hooray for wandering leafy paths with friends. :)

Dat Weather Tho..

Next couple of days is going to be atrocious here.  Add about four or five degrees while inside (large windows in the studio) and I'm pretty much relegated to just doing simple sketches.  The painting will be a bit delayed until this odd heat-wave ends hopefully on Thursday (a whopping 22 degrees! Yay!).

Cinders also does not approve.

August already!

The autumn ghosts are already running rampant through my mind as the year wanders its way closer and closer to the time where leaves catch on fire and the ground crusts with frost.

With autumn, I always find my mind drifting back to the wolf-folk of Felwroth.  The Javaar or Javarran depending on what dialect speaks of them (Cinders calls them 'the barks', though meant with genuine kindness).
