People Are Strange - October 2nd.

Some days she just doesn't get us.

I don't either.

Stay safe, folks.

The Black Hill House - October 1st.

Spook!

Its October already! (Seriously.. Did September even exist?  I don't remember any of it).  In celebration of the month of spook I figured I'd show off the side project I was noodling around with.  Maps of various places in the realm.

I actually had a lot of trouble figuring out how to do game-style maps again after years of mostly just scribbling out a 'stick figure' version in ball-point on note paper (Likely an hour before the game as well, because why be prepared...

October is coming. Spook!

Just a short update!  Along with the arty bits that I'm doing trying to get some autumn pictures out as well, including leefs, a few more wolves, and a few more neighs (Yes, non-Cinders ones too!), I'm going to be folding in some map-work that I've been doing as well.

I know most folks might not be gamers, but the maps themselves can more represent a layout of what some of the places in the world might look like.  In the theme of 'Spook' for October, I'll be posting a map of a place ...

The Neigh Nook

Spent the day putting some simple inks and refinements on the 'Neigh Nook' picture.  I decided to extend the canvas at the bottom as her hooves were touching the bottom edge of the picture (which is actually not a good thing to do as it creates a bad tangent).  So she has a bit more of a walk, and a street with some leefs in it.

Hoping to get this coloured soon-ish.  Days are still taken up with a lot of else-work.  hasn't been a bad start to the fall.  The leaves are ...

The Neigh Nook - September 21st.

This one was bouncing around in my head for quite a while.  Cinders' shop of curiosities called 'The Neigh Nook'.

It started out as a more cartoon driven sketch but I wanted to add a lot more depth to it the more I went along.  Sort of a 'cartoon' look with a really decent and detailed background.

And falling leefs, of course.

I'll be doing a ink and colour treatment to this one too I think.  I don't know yet if I'll go full 'painter' on it or leave it as a sor...

Skarshoal Tower - Sept. 18th

A quick illustration of one of the areas of Felwroth that I had in my head for years now.

Felwroth boasts airships.  I've always loved the idea of ships that wander the lanes of air as quiet traffic, carrying anything from cargo to kings.  Dotted around the world are these stopover points called skytowers.

Often the towers themselves aren't manned if they're very remote.  Those sorts of towers have simple 'golems'.  Animated guardians and workers that maintain the tow...

Cover for D20 to Yuma RPG - Sept. 13th

Hey all!

With very kind permission from Paul Kidd he allowed me to post a version of the final painting of the cover for the upcoming D20 to Yuma RPG that he's writing (under the Kitsune Press moniker I believe).  While I don't normally add any watermarks to Patreon images, this image belongs to Kitsune Press and I needed to make sure that was represented.

When I was offered the chance to draw a 'Cactus Dragon' I knew I had to take the project on and draw something with a lot of cra...

Time of the Leefs

Its a pretty lovely fall here this year.  Leaves are slowly turning to yellow all around, and the weather has _finally_ stopped being absurdly warm.  I'm hoping to get more 'autumn' art put out soon.

I did want to give a heads up to all my patrons that the patron sketch for this month sadly has to be pushed back to next month.  My father has a medical procedure coming up, and I've been a caregiver for him for years now.  While its not a major procedure, at his age any kind ...

Chok-lit - September 7th

This poni introduces ber-bers to chok-lit.

It hit 32C here today, and I've fallen a bit behind as I'm still working on a cover for an RPG.  I figured it was a good opportunity to start doing sketch-work again since doing colour in the studio would have been a nightmare today.

This started as a little sketch and turned into a whole thing!  Hooray for wandering leafy paths with friends. :)

Dat Weather Tho..

Next couple of days is going to be atrocious here.  Add about four or five degrees while inside (large windows in the studio) and I'm pretty much relegated to just doing simple sketches.  The painting will be a bit delayed until this odd heat-wave ends hopefully on Thursday (a whopping 22 degrees! Yay!).

Cinders also does not approve.

Please weather.  Why?

Summer Omen (Inks)

A bark.  A Neigh.  A summer day.

I'm a bit behind on this one.  I'm doing another RPG cover project at the same time and didn't want to just rush either of them.  Basic inks since this will be coloured in, and there's still a dye-tattoo or two to add to Lyss as well, though I tend to paint those after.

Have a good weekend folks!

Mariposa Omens (WIP, Nudity) - August 16th

Moar arts!

This is the rough sketch that will eventually be painted this month.  I had the image in my head for a couple weeks now and the first three attempts didn't work out very well, today it came together though once my brain loosened up a bit (and all the bolts fell out.  There are bolts EVERYWHERE right now).

Lyssiah and Cinders, wandering the outer fields of the Stormshoal township, when one of Cinders' butterflies decided to say hello.  I wanted to try and capture...

Miribelle the Gunslinger - August 14th

Colour version of the Gnomish gunslinger.

This is actually a character I'm playing in a friend's game.  Its based in Felwroth though.

We tend to 'world jam' now and then, and the subject of gnomes came up at one point.  I never was a huge fan of how gnomes are represented in game worlds.  Not because there is anything wrong with them, but I wanted something a bit different for Felwroth.  The world tends to draw from magic and the 'fey' quite a bit.  It has ties t...

Miribelle the Gunslinger - August 12th

Miri's life wasn't a terrible one.  Living in a community of Gnomish thinkers and dreamers, the Enclave of the Stars Path set out to establish not only intellectual and creative freedoms but also to show the world that the diminutive people weren't just wandering gypsies of sylvanic blood.

The early days with her husband were filled with fits of excited discovery.  Stars were mapped, inventive ideas were pulled from the ether and given written theory.  The new pair's place in th...

Discerning Eye (Final) - August 7th

The final inks for last month's Patron sketch.  I had to restrain myself immensely from adding more and more bits and bobs to the space port.  Its a place just begging for tons of little details.

Many thanks to Mountain Goat for the opportunity to sketch this out, and for his patience.

Ye Olde Onion - August update

August already!

The autumn ghosts are already running rampant through my mind as the year wanders its way closer and closer to the time where leaves catch on fire and the ground crusts with frost.

With autumn, I always find my mind drifting back to the wolf-folk of Felwroth.  The Javaar or Javarran depending on what dialect speaks of them (Cinders calls them 'the barks', though meant with genuine kindness).

I had always wondered why my mind switches back to wanting to draw and...

Discerning Eye (roughs) - July 29th.

I was given kind permission by this month's sketch patron MountainGoat to share the roughs (and later, final inks) of his sketch here with you all.

I don't proclaim to be incredibly adept at drawing technology and sci-fi, but I do love learning about characters in those universes and brushing up on my robot drawing!

The character in question is Enkeli, a ship-born engineer (and technical wizard, as she created the little umbrella-bot that follows her around).  I loved the ide...

The Mappening: Valhadrune - July 22nd

I haven't done mapping in quite some time.  In fact the last one I had done was so long ago that I actually forgot nearly all the techniques I used to create and draw out the landmasses!

I had wanted to actually get a definitive map of the largest of Felwroth's continents done for the longest time.  I've always had a few little sketchy maps of the continent, mainly as a writing/game-running tool, to give me a general sense of where various settlements and territories were on Valhadru...

The Fine Art of Gardening (nudity) - July 11th

I had to finally stop myself from dotting away at this picture.  I kind of wanted to leave this with a bit of an illustrative or storybook feel to it.

Cinders gleefully chatting away with Berrand (off camera) as she tends to her tomatoes and shows off her freshly painted stars.

Next up will likely be the next page in the Qiuloa comic.  First page I've done in months but I really have missed drawing on that one, and if I don't get a bit more of the story done I'll forget ...
