Commission Prices

Finally!

This was supposed to be done by last week but I had a pet emergency start a few days ago.  My cats are both over 15 years old now, and Smokey had suddenly collapsed yesterday.  He had to go to the Vet ER and had to have some new meds added (He's up to SIX pills a day, the poor little squeak).

He's okay now, but a bit slowed down due to one medication, but he's at least resting a lot better and hasn't collapsed again since.  It was really terrifying watching...

Coffee Ramble - 1 Sentinels and games

A bit of a double-post for today.

The sentinels picture is coming along though it's taking a fair bit of time since I ended up adding a lot of parts in this illustration that needed some layering, but the flats are largely done, and I think I got the colours right for a cold environment on an overcast kind of day.  Colours all have to stay in this very muted range which makes things kind of challenging.  You have to fool the visuals into thinking that these aren't just all var...

Graphic Novel P1 - Preview

Just a little rough preview of the first page of Cinders' story (well, its an ensemble story, but she's the main focus for the first bit at least :).

It feels good to actually be getting this project under way.  I'm sketching on the third page before I start inks and colours, which will let me set a pretty good pace (I hope).

I should have the commission price-list up by next week.  I was going to do a whole graphical splash-sheet for it, but realized it's just easier to...

Summer Stride - Patron Sketch

A big thank you to Ellis for his patience and letting me draw his neigh character.  I was given an option to draw him walking through a summer scene and jumped on it.  Winter has felt especially long this time around, and we just had some brutally cold days that I had to be out in for various reasons, so getting to draw leaves and twigs and flowers and clear skies was something I absolutely had to draw.

March is quite literally around the corner (tomorrow!) and hopefully with ...

Coffee Ramble - Zero

In the last month I've started making a solid list of things I'd like to accomplish over the coming year.  I was never quite able to solidify a schedule when it came to creating anything here on Patreon (Or in general, creating things on any site).  Schedules got interrupted by life and work, and eventually when I got to a project that I had planned, I was either too creatively or emotionally exhausted to complete it/start it, or I had simply lost interest in the idea I had.

Performers (sketch)

A rough sketch of a pair of Lorrnathi performers walking down to the stage area.

Just another image I wanted to get out of the 'maybe pile' in my head and put onto canvas before I forgot to.  I accidentally left in the rough planes/lines layer as well, but it's supposed to be a rough sketch anyway.

Work, work, work.

Double Dragon (Yes, I know, boo.)

Another sketch image, I know, but I admittedly love these two idiots.  Wraethos (The taller Ithskaari) and Eilyrja (The bold-bold) as a bit of a 'tall' comparison.  I used a freebie height ruler for CSP, with Wraethos standing at 6'7" tall, and Eilyrja standing at 3' (Which is fairly standard for kobolds in 'Wroth).

Despite his size, Wraethos is the less 'combaty' kind of person, as he's an arcanist graduate of both the Wyrmythir academy Decymintar and the Andormir Acad...

Proper Panstless (sketch)

"Eyy!  Caught me proper-pantsless this time I guess."

Splitscreen again, this time proper full 'pantsless' and having afternoon coffee.

I'm starting to get used to using some stuff from Sketchup (a 3D architect warehouse) to get scale of things like sectional sofas and bongo-drums (yes, bongo-drums) done right.

What pantsless adventures await us next time?  Tune in to find out.

Sketches

Varied sketches that I had done in between running around throwing bits of paper at various people and institutions this month.

I'm starting to get the hang of this whole sketching thing again.  I'm starting to use reference again after pouring through the backup library of images I have, as well as revisiting characters again.

Splitscreen 'wearing pants', Ellysathistle showing off her buttnub (gnomes have tails in Felwroth as part of their chaotically feywild nature, ...

Sentinel (Rough Sketch)

A view of the rough pencils for a sketch that I'm going to be working on doing colours for, featuring Javarran sentinels taking on an ambush of their long fallen brethren, raised by some unknown force of madness.

I apologize for being fairly quiet over the last couple weeks.  I'm in the middle of getting through the mountains of paperwork, meetings, mailings and other things to do with the estate of my late father.  Even with a will there is just a wall of things to fill out, ...

Black Gives Way to Blue (and a sketch preview)

The past nearly 2 weeks have been emotionally rough, as is expected.  It's still rough but I can feel the tendrils of adaptation starting to take root.

For one, I've found that my love of just sketching things has started to return.  I have a lot of 'moments to breathe' now and I tend to gravitate towards creating things again.  I haven't been as worried about tight sketches as much as just getting some weird idea down into lines.

Above is one of those sketch...

On January 5th my Father passed away.

Just typing that sentence still feels so surreal.  This was a man who I swear could have outlasted the sun and stars.

He lasted nearly fifteen months longer than doctors initially gave him.  But he was used to that.  I've only known a couple other people who had his determined will to survive no matter how hard the fight.

You can plan for a loved one's passing for months and even years but the moment that call comes in, yo...

At Day's End

The patron sketch for.. September??  Indeed, very late.  The image was caught at the end of the sketch stage by the chaos of the last four months, and I cannot thank Reya's creator enough for being patient while I tried to put out all the fires going on in my life.

I always love drawing wolves.  They're what I started drawing way back in the 90's and I still like exploring different cultures of the woof-variety.  Reya, as I understand it, grew up with human parents, ...

Boundary.

And here we are at the boundary of the old year, awaiting the moments to cross into the new.

2022 was, without any hyperbole, the worst year I've ever experienced.  Family and friends struggled while the world was on fire.  It was the year my father's health decided on it's final decline.  It was a year where I had at least three nervous breakdowns that I didn't even know were nervous breakdowns until a nurse essentially said "What the f**k?  You realize tha...

Thinking of Snow (sketch)

I wanted to keep trying to get back to where I was when it comes to form.  I struggled with this one a lot but it didn't feel frustrating.  It was just getting those neural little pathways to regrow after so long.

I'm not too sure who this mare is, or why she seems so happy to think of snow.  But at least the stuffed rabbit is puzzled as well.

I'm now finally inking on a Patron sketch as well.  It will take more time, simply because it's a more precise process,...

WOOF. Sketch

Wolves go woof.

The next image I'll be doing is also a wolf, its actually a patron sketch from a couple months back now.  Some tweaks, and then I'll get to inking.

Its likely the next batch of images might be a bit rough.  I'm still getting back into the swing of drawing again.

Not to go into a lot of depth here, but my time as a caregiver is now coming to a close.  My father is ...

Into new snow.

November was an unbelievable torrent of chaos.  I'm still kind of amazed at just how  I kept any of it straight.  It was a deluge of medical acronyms, adrenaline fueled frantic calls and travel to six different institutions where I was plied with more medical acronyms, phone numbers, and 'things to watch for, and who to call' information.

I shouldn't complain.  I'm fortunate to live in a place where there are layers of care providers who are able to guide people thro...

Foxes are Fluffy. (nudity)

It's been one of the most difficult months I've had in.. Well, possibly a lifetime.

However that's for a separate post, as this isn't the space for it.

An image of Frostii showing off a fuzzy-robe for Christmas.

Foxes are fluffy.

I'm a bit rusty at sketching/drawing since I've had to take quite a bit of time off in the last couple of months.  Forgive any scratchiness.

The Good Witch

This took some time to get inked.  I wanted to do a more complete inking process with this one and while I had hoped to get this out before Halloween's end, I at least got it done soon after.

We basically immediately transitioned to winter two days after Halloween.  It's now in the -16 range and dumping snow.  A far cry from the lovely mild temps on spook-night and leaves rattling down the street.

More to come.

The Wheel Turns, But is on Fire.

I had hoped to have the inked Halloween-esque picture posted by now, but will need another day or so.

My father, for whom I'm a permanent caregiver for, is in a Cardiac unit at the hospital.

On Monday he nearly collapsed, and couldn't catch his breath at all, complaining of feeling like a horse was sitting on his chest.

There's still no official word of what is going on until more tests are done, so he'll be residing there for a while.  He's had a heart problem f...

The Good Witch

In the quiet town of WÍcian on the shores of ByrÞen lake, those who practice sorceries are welcome as long as they adhere to not invoking blood magics or rituals involving the infernal hosts.

Wydda Hyggan, or 'Birch Song' is one such practitioner.  Drawing the dulcet notes of healing magics from the leylines of mother dragon, she tends to those who's illnesses overtake them.  While she's of the Lynceffyl bloodline (a short-statured ancestry of Lorrnath) who normally aren't k...

Roughs of an image I'll be inking for October.

She knows they steal her 'pompkins' and sell them, because she puts out pompkins specifically for them to steal.  Kobolds need their treasure hoards, thus need to sell pompkins for all the shiny things.

And Soon They WIll Have Faces. (Final)

I had decided to leave this image a little more 'illustrative' with the linework intact.  For some reason my mind kept fading back to 'Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown' and how that had a warmth and charm to it with the linework left in.

Oddly, when I started this image, the trees were much like they are here:  Green with a few yellow leaves starting to poke through.  As of finishing this image, there are trees that are fully yellow and red now, and some that ar...

October Eats People

Last year, my father had to spend three weeks in the hospital in October.  It wasn't pleasant, as it rarely is, and he missed the leaves turning and falling, and missed the garden being 'harvested'.  The man had a bevy of different things wrong with him, all severe, all amidst the 'fourth wave' (I think.. might have been the third.  They meld together now).  I remember half-jokingly noting that I spoke to literally every department in that hospital for a background history...
