Okay, first things first - it's coming!! As in real soon (hopefully Friday). I've done sooo much work since my last post it's insane. And there's a few juicy surprises for you all I promise! Hey hey!! Obviously I'd love this post to be the one that says 'here's the new version - go wild!' but I'm afraid that day is still a couple weeks away.

So since the test build I've been doing some serious 'refactoring' of my code - meaning I've not simply been ironing out the bugs but instead going back and making the whole thing a whole lot more smoothly - so that such things don't appear in the first place.

Well, that didn't exactly go smoothly, did it? Obviously I knew there'd be some bugs and glitches but I wasn't quite prepared for just how many - and the one that really broke my heart was that the damn characters and foreground images were missing!
You'll be glad to know that I've ironed out that particular issue - in case you're interested: turns out what runs fine within the game editor is way more picky when the game is exported and I had the foreground images fold...

So I dug into the main initial issue - the character images not showing and I've got it working on the web version! There might still be a few issues with choices not showing up but maybe this is all working now? [EDIT: Unless you're super curious and impatient to see the game, I'd say hold off on even downloading/playing this version as it turns out there's a bunch of bugs and whatnot that make it quite a strange and unplayable experience right now (missing options, missing character images, etc). Okay, so I said first of the month but seriously, I've had five hours sleep, I'm putting finishing touches to this thing like a mad woman and I just want to wake up tomorrow with a fresh head and make sure it's all as perfect as can possibly be before I share it with you.

I'm super excited to announce that I'm getting close to sharing a playable version with you all! And once I'm ready that also means I'll be turning billing back on - most likely toward the end of this month.
Which means that, come October 1st, you'll be debited for whatever tier pledge you've signed up for. But hopefully having a test build of Girl Games 0.4.1 to play will sweeten the blow a little!

Things this month didn't exactly go to plan. Well, as I was predicting, the all new Ren'py version was met with a mixed response. I wish wish wish I had even more time to work on this game - my dream would be to do it full time - and to just be able to wave a magic wand and transfer everything from the old Twine version over to the new version in one go! But obviously that's not gonna happen and it'll be a couple months until I'm back to roughly where I was (i.e. with a few weeks worth of content instead of one complete day).
