The Vinery Progress

I posted a few comments about the things I've been working on in The Vinery, but in case you missed those I've added trees to the earlier levels, reduced the enemy encounters, and added levels 9 and 10. First Goal Met! Thank you!

It feels great to finally meet that first goal. You know, sometimes I look at other hentai projects on Patreon and I get a little jealous because they have more patrons than I do.

New $5 & $10 support tiers

There was some interest in higher support tiers so I thought I'd add them. The rewards are not that interesting but hopefully I can make them more interesting someday when I can find a dedicated artist.

I kinda wanted to make the $5 tier reward be access to view a new sprite sex animation every month but I don't know if I could keep that up.

Flares, the anti-Lightlock

Apparently unlocking a Lightlock while a flare is active will result in a reverse lightlock, basically sealing that room in permanent darkness (flares and lanterns still work though). Unfortunately that means there's no workaround, so try not to unlock any lightlocks while you have a flare active.

Sprites!

Not the pixel kind, but the little tiny creatures with wings kind. Well anyway I decided to tackle the long overdue pregnancy issues and fixed up the sprite pregnancies. In the next version Sienna will be able to give birth to sprites in just one day. I've also decided to completely do away with eating certain food types to get certain sprites. You get a completely random sprite (out of 10 different kinds).

Plans and Stuff

I want to make a lot of changes to The Abyss before the next update. Not to mention all the bugs that need fixing. I will probably also do some work on The Tower. Hopefully I won't mess even more stuff up, but that's usually par for the course. xP

What's up?

There are probably other things I should be doing, but lately I've been working on more consensual / aggro sex animations for Sienna. Currently I'm using the Abyssian for all the different positions as a placeholder, but I'm not sure if all of these will be applicable to monsters. I might use one of them for glory holes.

Update Woes

My apologies for that last update. Even after the workaround there are apparently some game stopping bugs (I hear there's an infinite doctor checkup loop).

Aside from that, I just reduced the biggest music files by about 75%. I thought they were causing the extraction problems, but apparently that hasn't solved that problem. Future updates will probably be released as two files, the game files in one download and the music files (and possibly other audio files) in another.

Yeehaw!

Well I didn't feel like mapping after all so I went with working on the animations.

This animation was needed for later on anyway, so I worked on it for a bit.
I did get some practice with shading, but it's still mostly a copy/paste venture.

Now that I look at it, her hand placement interferes with her wing animation a bit. Not sure what to do about that. I guess I could move her wing animation to the back page... or just not worry about it. xP

Progress is slow...

I thought I would have more done by now, but I am a terrible procrastinator. I am still working on redoing Gray's events and dialogue (3 of 11 pages done, not including Temptation and Intoxication events). The previous dialogue was quite bad IMO. Hopefully I am improving it and not actually making it worse.  o.o;

Stuff I've been working on

Lately I've been reluctant to fix up old quests and such, so I've been working on the level layouts for later dungeon areas. I also just completed work on a 2 stage boss fight that I'm quite happy with.

I'll try and fix up Gray and his quest soon. 


If I can't get The Abyss ready by the end of the month then I'll go ahead and block it off again and upload another Tower update (which should be 100% finished and bug free in my current build).

The last couple days I can't seem to make myself work on stuff that needs fixing in The Abyss. I guess I just need to push through it. Well at least I got the layout for one level finished. It's not much, but at least it's something. It would probably help if I play through the game again. Or maybe I need to relax and watch a good movie or something. I don't really know. The Tower (Revisited)

I've been working on The Tower a lot. This actually has nothing to do with the events that take place in The Tower when Sienna first arrives. First, I finished the dungeon layout for The Caverns all the way to level 8. I still need to populate it with monsters and boss fights.

Random Stuff

While adding in a new flare type item I noticed an old fix for saves from previous versions that would basically fix the player's lantern if it had a capacity less than 1000. It just seemed foreign when I saw it and didn't make much sense, confusing me quite a bit. I very much doubt any old saves being compatible anyway, so I'm going to remove the fix.

Speaking of the flare, it will light up the entire area (and go with you, from room to room), can't be turned off, will last about 80 ...

Confessions

I apologize for the recent lack of updates. Lately I decided to try a game out and found it to be quite addictive. In fact, I've been up a few sleepless nights playing it. It's just one of those games where you wouldn't think it would take long to play it, but before you know it a bunch of hours have passed. You realize this but you think, "Just a few more minutes. I'll go to bed at 4 AM." Which then turns into 6 AM, and finally 8 AM. Hopefully I can get back on track working on FSA now.

Well I got a little more work done on Kendra's palace. I worked on the bartender some more, fixing him and the two girls up so that they go in a corner when they want to have sex now. Also, having Sienna go near them will make her take notice, comment, and then back away. She will also gain temptation, depending on her integrity. If her integrity is maxed out then she will just scoff at them and not gain any temptation.

(Maybe?) A new look for Sienna's Children

A while back Arsministrator offered to help me out with some sprites for FSA. What you see above is a progress report. However, he later lost most of the work he had done on these. I don't know exactly how much he still has (or if any at all). Unfortunately he is very hesitant to work on this again.

Idle Party Members in Boss Fights

It's bothered me for a while now about what to do about boss fights, concerning characters that are in your party. I don't really want the extra effort of writing dialogue for characters that may or may not be in the player's party at the time, but at the same time it just doesn't seem right that there's no explanation for why the other party members do nothing at all during an action sequence styled boss fight.

The Blackwood

I made another level for the new area, The Blackwood. I haven't really decided how it will be accessed yet (probably somewhere in The Vinery). You'll also enter another area through this area, called Mansion Black. I realize now that the the name I gave to the mansion is probably influenced a bit by Game of Thrones' Castle Black.. although Mansion Black and Castle Black couldn't be more different. More Dungeons, Missing Rocks, and Artwork

I started working on another dungeon. There are probably at least 7 dungeons in The Abyss that I still need to make. Most of these will be late game areas. I would also like to add more levels to The Mines and The Vinery but I'm leaning away from that. I believe it was a mistake to have so many levels for The Dungeon and The Crypts when 3 levels would have probably been enough. So- I might just have the 4 Mines levels and the 8 Vinery levels. What do you guys think?

Personal Quests

I just added the 2nd personal quest (the 1st isn't far behind, but for whatever reason I did the 2nd one first). Personal quests are basically fetch quests for your children. In addition to the usual reward a quest gives (which is exp), personal quests will also improve the stats for that character and unlock a special node on their skill tree. I tweaked the fire wizard a bit (first boss from the Dungeon in the Abyss). It seems to flow more smoothly now. You can't die after the fight now. Also, you can't go into the lava at the north (you're just blocked from doing so). There's also now a retry option if you get killed. I might have missed something, but we'll see.

Also also, I redid the book's graphic a bit and switched the intelligence orb for an upgrade orb. I should probably change the dialogue a little now.

I just tried a new boss fight and it did 105 damage and killed Sienna in one hit.

I tried it again with Dillon. It did 400+ damage. Needless to say, I died again.

Defend only reduced the damage to 100. I'm not sure what I think of this.


I'll have to wait and see how good the characters can get after defeating a bunch of the easier bosses, getting upgrade orbs, etc..  but I'm thinking it would be fun to have a few enemies that are just too difficult to defeat...

I've started working on The Abyss again. I'm going to add another area at the start, somewhere (haven't decided where yet). The primary purpose of it will be to add some quest items and such, although I'll also be revisiting older sections (like The Dungeon) and adding stuff as well. I'm currently working on adding quests for each child (which they'll give if you talk to them). These quests will be open for the most part, allowing you to complete them at any time.
