GUESS WHAT!! I am almost done with this opening/intro arc to the Denver and Daniel comic!! All 12 pages are penciled, inked, and flatted, so all that's left is to actually color them. Coloring is by far my favorite part, and also the part that I'm the quickest at, which means you're all so close to getting to read some of this comic.

I started this back in August knowing I would need something to post for you lovely Espresso Shot patrons after I got back from my hellish trip, so I painted it real quick over the past day. My trip got delayed due to a family member's covid scare (they came back negative, but not in time for us to make our original flights), so my week in my home state of Hawai'i finally came to an end this past weekend. We flew back home on an overnight from Honolulu to Seattle and it was maybe the worst flight I've ever experienced in my life? 

It was a literal full flight and the cabin was kept so...

I'm drawing pages and I have a new name

Hey pals! I started penciling, inking, and flatting the first few pages of the Denver and Daniel comic, because I've had a big, very stressful trip to help my parents at the end of this month, and my executive function was like, 'welp, better not work on any scripting/thumbnails with that trip coming up.'

RRR Timelapse

Hello to all! This is the first post in a while for the folks pledged at the legacy $1/pay what you want tier (now called the Decaf Tier), I hope you're all well! Here's a timelapse I forgot I recorded sometime last year of some painting practice I did of a screenshot from RRR, which was a film that absolutely took over my brain. Band Member: Tomas Shipman

Tomas has changed the most from my original outline and pitch to script! Originally, I was thinking of a screamo-loving scene kid, an energetic foil to Denver's golden retriever energy, but as I've been writing him, he's taken on a whole new personality. (Stef has instead taken on the role of 'completely over Denver's bullshit'). 

Tomas is still Denver's oldest friend (from before they were born! Their mothers go to the same church), and will always be Denver's semi-willing sidekic...

[18+] selfies series pt 2

I DIDN'T FORGET, here's Daniel's version of a 'selfie he takes when he's feeling himself' and uh, as promised, the vibes between the Denver and Daniel's are... different, to put it mildly.

If these boys were in our era, Daniel would thrive as an OnlyFan creator, and that is the best way I can put it. (Denver would have like, three OF accounts he would support, but he would be too shy to interact with any of them at all.

Band Members: Stef Martin

I am finally out of my lettering hyperfixation, and I have been itching to draw, SO. I'm now designing all the supporting characters in this story, starting with my favorite band member, Stef!!

Stef is Tennyson's bassist. He plays a Fender P-bass (in sunburst) when he's with Tennyson. He's also in a metal band, where he plays some six string monstrosity that I never intend to draw, so you'll just have to take my word for it.

Kira's Adventures in Lettering

I apologize in advance of not having any like, drawings, to share, but I have been in a state of 'wake up, drink coffee, work on script and thumbnails for 7 hours straight' since I last checked in, and I'm now clocking in at 84 pages of thumbs and 11,308 words of script. I think I'm on to something good here?! Is this comic I'm making... actually gonna rule?! (God, I hope so.)

Took a break from thumbnailing the comic to doodle this!! It is basically gonna be 'what kind of selfie would the boys take when they're feeling themselves' so, the, uh vibe is gonna be different between the two, because Denver and Dan are Very Different Dudes with two very different ideas about what feeling sexy is.

Final Page Test + Inks

WELL, mission success, probably!! And it's official, this A5 page size totally works for me. I've only ever worked at standard US comic size prior to this (considerably larger and narrower than A5), but I'm digging it! 

This was also a really good chance for me to figure out how I want to ink and color this comic. I'm trying to go for something that's reasonably quick for me to do that still looks like my illustrative work. I'm on like, year 2 now of switching from a paint...
