Progress Report #23 - June 12, 2022

Hello folks!

As we get closer to the line, obviously there is less and less to say. I'm chugging through and am about 1/3 of the way through Scene 7, by my estimates, although I may add a few renders here and there to flesh things out. So far the second round in the bar has gone smoother than the first (as expected) now that I've gotten a better idea of how to light within it. As of now, Caitlyn's part of the scene is done and Sloane's is almost complete. That leaves Lane and her friend...

Howdy folks!

Gonna keep it short this week. No numbers or anything. As you noticed from last week's Report, we are really close to finishing the first update. If everything continues to go smoothly, I think it's safe to say that we will be releasing the first chapter in July. If we see any issues with this I will let you know as soon as possible. But, I want to get this out as much as I'm sure you all are wanting to play it so I'm cranking away. Right now, I'm nothing but positive.

Progress Report #21 - May 29, 2022

Hi folks,

Short one this week. Scene 6 is done. Scene 7 has begun. The render total for scene 7 is 202 renders, which may balloon a little due to reaction shots, but it's mostly locked in stone.

Puggy finished the last official animation for the game. He's working on a surprise additional animation or two depending on how much longer it takes me to finish up. But one is definitely in the works.

I had my family up to visit me for a couple of days this weekend, so I'm a littl...

New scene. Who dis?

Howdy folks!

Things are moving along nicely. As you can see in the numbers below Scene 4 and 5 are now both officially in the bag and work has begun on Scene 6. The writing is entirely done for Scene 6 and it's a relatively short, so barring any catastrophic issues, by the next weeks update I should be into Scene 7.

Puggy is chugging along on the final couple of animations for the last scene.

Kato, Gery and Evite have all pitched in to help us figur...

Howdy folks!

It's been another busy week. I've attached the numbers below so you can see the progress. This week was getting everything into Ren'py, designing the GUI, and looking for any holes we needed to fill with dialogue and renders to make it all flow better.

Scene 4 continues to be the scene that never dies but it is close. I thought I was done, but it was newb hubris. The reason: I'd originally had a bit of dialogue at the end of the scene that led you to a forced encount...

Howdy folks!

Been an exciting day today. Scene 4 is officially in the bag. Puggy finished a new animation. We've spent the entire day getting the coding officially into Ren'py and have begun locking the GUI down. Everything is coming together nicely.

This week my plan is to write the final scene we need writing for (Scene 6), clean up a discussion that starts Scene 7, as many of the points of this conversation have already been addressed I can shorten it a little bit. I'm going ...

Howdy folks,

Thank you for your patience on this week's update. As you may have seen on Discord, I am now the proud papa of 2 3090's. I got the second one in yesterday and needed to do some testing and setup so I wanted to get that in the bag so I could get back to work. A sincere thank you to you all who have stuck around in the early stages. Your continued belief and support in us made me confident that the investment would be worthwhile.

This week was a little bit slower than...

Howdy folks,

This week has been more of scene 4. We are closing in on 300 renders for this scene alone and if my estimates are correct, I should be done with scene 4 by the end of next week. That will lead us into the last three scenes of the episode. 2 are much shorter than this one, and one is similar in size. This scene has been a huge amount of work and has made me realize a few things that I had to address.

Up until this point I've been able to only get between 40-50 renders ...

Progress Report #15 - April 17, 2022

Hi folks,

Been a busy week work and game wise. I've completed about 90% of the dialogue for scene 4 and an additional 55 renders. I've gone back and done some spot rendering to fix some renders, and have returned to scene 2 to add in a few renders to some of the choices.

Puggy is working on an animation right now but he's pulling double-duty for us and Stone Fox so nothing completed for him this week. I've seen where he's at though, and it's gonna be another smoke show. He's ahead...

Happy Sunday everyone!

Gonna keep this week's update real short.

This week was another keep on truckin' week. As you can see from above, we've gone from daytime to nighttime in the bar, so I had to spend a couple of days relighting and balancing the environment for that. We also found a dead zone in the bars decoration that I had to populate, so I spent some time going back and spot rendering in that section in previous renders. I'm really happy with how all of it turned out.

Hi, folks,

This week, as stated last week, was less rendering and more writing, maintenance and trying to get a grip on where we are at as far as completion. I also needed to finish up the customs for the month as well as rework the lighting in the bar to the shift to nighttime. So, a bunch of the less fun aspects of the job.

Puggy finished another animation for Scene 5. It's real purdy like. As I stated, last weekend I finished Sloane's intro. This week I needed to go back and ad...

Hi!

Continuing in the tradition of short updates... we are still moving forward at a steady clip.

I'm close to halfway through Scene 4 now. By this point in the game, all of the main LIs have gotten a good introduction. I'm pretty happy with the way they've all turned out. I'm going to take a break from rendering for a couple of days and try and get a bit ahead on some writing and coding. I may still do a few while that is happening, but the numbers may go down a little next week ...

Howdy folks!

Another short one this week.

Puggy finished 2 animations this week for Scene 2, bringing the total to 3 instead of our intended 2. We thought an extra angle was a good idea for this scene. We hope you'll agree.

With that, he is now moving on to Scene 5 and Scene 2 will be 100% by next week as I can now do the renders that connect the animations.

I'm still chugging along on Scene 4. The percentage has gone down as the number of estimated renders has i...

Happy Friday everyone!

Another week down, a few more renders and another animation in the books.

With the current scene I'm averaging about 9 new renders a day. With that being said, I expect to be working on scene 4 for about two or three weeks, give or take.

Scene 5 is mostly done on my end (re:Progress Report #5). We need Puggy's animations for that scene (4 planned) and I'll have to do a few transitional renders (budgeting out around 25-30) and it'll be done.

Scene...

Hi folks,

Another week down! Things have been progressing smoothly. I've been working to optimize the bar environment renders a bit, and have been able to get them down from 3 hours per render to 2, which should save us a bit of extra time. I've also been going through the finished renders and doing touchups as I get ready to start getting everything into Ren'py again and working on the GUI.

Still just cranking along on Scene 4. I'm really liking how it's all turning out and am en...

Hello everyone!

This week has just been slow and steady. Not much to report. Slowly churning away at Scene 4 still.

The only thing to note this week is that I had to redo some renders to rework a lighting issue that was causing me to need to run each render for so many iterations that the scene was going to take 6 weeks+ to fully finish. The rework brought it down to 4+ for the scene. So, I lost a few days but gained a week.

Tonight Puggy and I are getting toget...

Psst... this week has been hell!

In all seriousness, sometimes as game dev hobbyists the real world can get in the way. My day job has me doing advertising for a bunch of different companies who have all been impacted by the shortages caused by COVID. This means on occasion as we set up for large yearly sales way in advance so the advertising gets out on time, many of the items we have been planning on being on the collateral gets changed last minute due to shortages. The past month has...

Gosh... has it been six weeks already?! Phew!

Hi folks!

So I know I always say I'm going to keep it short but this week I really am. I'm also not going to do "The Numbers" this time because the changes are all on scene 4, and will be for probably the next three or four weeks.

Hold on to your pants, folks! Exciting times are ahead!

Jokes aside, it's just that this is one of our more complicated scenes in a heavy environment with generally no less than three people i...

Hi folks,

Gonna keep it short this week. As you know, we had a setback with being unable to render scene 4 on my rig, which has since been resolved.

After chatting with Stoya, testing on Hank's rig and discussing the issue with Puggy, I found out it was a matter of going through the scene and instancing a bunch of items I had duplicated instead. This resolved a huge amount of geometry and textures and got the file size down dramatically (51 gig to under 28). It's someth...

Howdy folks,

It’s been an interesting week, so let’s begin by ripping the band-aid off this sucker.

In last week’s update I was telling you all about the tests I was setting up in the bar and how excited I was to get things rendered in there...

Well, apparently the environment is too much for one 3090. I tried optimizing the scene to reduce the textures. I switched the main characters from the 8.1s to 8s and tried only using optimized Gen 3s as background characters. A...

Hello everyone!

This week's progress report will be a shorter one as the numbers haven't changed dramatically.

This week was all about planning and preparing the things we need for the next scene. Scene 4 is the first proper introduction to each of the girls in The Minges as well as the center piece of the game, the bar itself. I've written a ton of new dialogue that wasn't in the original draft to fix a few plot holes and flesh out the world and character motivations moving for...

Hi folks,

We start with a picture of the MCs bedroom, a place you'll see often and is one of our fully custom interiors. We are doing our best to make all of our environments as unique as possible, so I've decided to start mentioning those in the progress report as well. These environments alone can take weeks to create and decorate, so I think it's definitely worth mentioning as they are part of the production.

Other than that, we have nothing crazy to report. Puggy and I are j...

Hello! Fancy meeting you here!

As promised, here is the first progress report.

But first, let’s talk the easy stuff. Good news: the end is in sight for chapter 1 of the 10 chapters planned for the game. The bad news? We are shooting for a first quarter release. At worst, we’re shooting for a release in April. While I know that seems like a long time, please take into account that I’ve spent over a year (I started in Nov 2020) learning how to use Daz without opening a Patreon...
