July Lesson - Adult Conent

This article contains no porn or 18+ content.

It does, however, delve into why erotica is such a successful genre and entry point for new writers, what it stands for and how to maximise it, while also giving advice on what differentiates it from normal fiction (as well as what does not).

While a unique and odd lesson topic it's still something worth considering writing - and may be something you already are.

Here's the next chapter of Jaune's adventures in Atlas.

Writing article should be tomorrow.

Writing Article - June - Atmosphere

Atmosphere is easy to create in movies and video games due to the usage of music and visuals, but how does one go about conveying the proper atmosphere and mood in a written story? I look at the basics and break it down into two easy columns. Get used to using both and you should have no problem.

Coeur Writing Article - Dealing with Writer's Block

I'm sure I've talked about this in the past but it remains a common problem for aspiring writers - dealing with writer's block. Many people stop writing entirely because of this, giving up on their aspirations, but the reality is that writer's block is a condition set more in mistakes made early on in writing - and isn't something to be afraid of.

I don't just list out solutions here but try to delve into what it is, what causes it and help people understand the reasons for writer's blo...

Coeur One-Shot - April-May - Second Choice Ch.2

Hey all - and welcome to all the newcomers. Thank you so much for supporting me even if it's just for a short time. It takes a long time to write everything I do (around 25-30hrs a week) and I appreciate the support at a time when living prices over here in the UK are going out of control.

Anyway, here is the one-shot for the month. I decided to go with my earlier plan and write a story here on Patreon. As a reminder, this WILL be released on fanfiction . net one day. That'll be when a ...

One Shot - April 22 - Second Choice

Here's the one shot for this month but I also have a question:

Would you prefer a different one-shot every month, or would you rather have an entire story delivered chapter by chapter? I'm honestly curious because I could take to writing this one-shot as a full story with an update each month if you all wanted it.

To note, this would not be wholly and only exclusive to Patreon. What I would do is write it here, carry it on updating here month by month, but when another ...

Patreon Writing Article, April 22 - How to write female characters and point of view

Ever struggled writing female points of view and characters because you're a male author? Likely not if you are or associate as female - but it's a very serious problem for many authors, even some as famous as Stephen King. In this article I dive into some of the mistakes made, offer some advice on how to fix it and hopefully help you understand that female characters need to be more than looks and plot devices.

If anyone wants it, I'm happy to write a companion piece in the future deta...

March One Shot - Back to form

Hello everyone

It's been a long while since I posted anything beyond my stories - COVID hit me and the company I work for as hard as it hit many others, and it never felt like I had any spare time left. This recent health scare with my mother however, has taught me that there won't ever be "enough time". That waiting for things to get easier will never work out because... well... life is just harsh like that. I did keep my fics going, which is why I know a lot of you support ...

No Update 3rd April

Hi all

Feels like I've had to do a lot of these in 2021. Maybe I'm projecting, but still. There will be no update to Relic today as I'm at my sister's place. She lives with her husband and they both act as carers for said husband's parents who live with them as dependants. They unfortunately died this morning of natural causes and I'm going to be over at hers all day helping her. Though she and her partner thought they were both prepared for this when the hospital released their parents...

No Arcanum Chapter today - 7th March 2021

My doctor has advised a full day of ZERO screen activity in order to find out whether the condition with my eyes is related to strain or an underlying condition. I decided it would be today instead of tomorrow as I've been enjoying writing Knight of Salem and don't want to miss an update of that.

My apologies for the non-chapter today but I don't want to take any risks with my eyes when all my jobs rely on it. xD

No Chapter Today - Sick (12th Dec)

Kind of brought down in a bit of a serious way today. Too ill to write. I'll hopefully be okay tomorrow, but out of it for now. Just forewarning you all here.

Null Chapter 37 - Site Issues

Some people have reported having issues with accessing new chapters - this is because the site is having some server issues. It's not only my works, but just about everyone's. I've been unable to access stories I have followed, too, or more specifically their new chapters.

Here is the chapter in doc form if you can't read it and want to. It's public, so everyone can see and access it.

Writing Article - Minor Characters

I am back from my event, which went as well as I could hope for - minor technical difficulties as to be expected, but it's out the way and I am relieved. Anyway, this writing article is about minor characters. Not the main character or his party, but those numerous characters you meet along the way, some of more importance than others.

This article looks at how much development to give them, how many to have and also how to avoid minor characters stealing a little too much li...

One Week Rest 19th - 25th

Hi all

Sorry to bring out the poor news - I know I owe a one-shot and a writing article this month - but I need to take a break from writing next week, from Monday 19th to Sunday 25th. The reason for this is partly due to a work event I have on the 29th that I need to step in Monday and take over because everyone has been making excuses and it's poorly organised. I will be stuck all week in meetings and going around fixing things, and I feel like I won't have time to write. Probably won...

Sickness & Updates

Hi all. If you've been reading my Saturday and Sunday stories you probably know I've been feeling fairly ill both days yet writing regardless. It's come to a point where I am even worse this morning however, and I don't feel I can write today. In the interests of not making it worse, I'm going to have no updates this Monday (31st) and also Tuesday (1st September).

Stories will continue normally after. I'll be writing a note on the last chapter of both stories to let readers know, ...

Writing Article - Plotting a Story

Something a little different here for the writing article this time. We're going to plot out a Winter x Adam story together, with me explaining my thought process as best I can along the way. It's a new format and may not be perfect, but if you find it useful then do let me know as I might be willing to do it again in the future but let people vote on the type of story and pairings involved, sort of like I used to do in the Writer Games with College Fool where I would make a story idea from p...

Goodbye Old Friend

I'm afraid that today, 3rd July 2020, I had to say goodbye to my old friend, Parker, who struggled with numerous problems towards the end of his life. After months of fighting extreme weight loss, deficient protein levels and the prospect of cancer, his body gave out on him and he had to be put down. I was able to convince the vets to let me be there when it happened despite lock down, so that he didn't have to pass away alone.

It was Parker who spurred me to first make my Patreon due t...

One Shot & Updates

Hi all.

It's been a while, hasn't it? I'd like to apologise for that. The lock down and coronavirus has been tough on all of us. I thought working from home would give me more time to work on things like this, but it's actually made life just that little bit harder.

I'm happy to say things are moving back on track and I'm going to be looking to get things in order again, which will mean a return to the monthly updates and writing lessons I'm supposed to be doing. I'll ...

Writing Article - One Shots and Short Stories

This article takes a look at how to write a full story in a smaller amount of words, often in one chapter. The ubiquitous "one shots" of fanfiction or, as they're more commonly known, short stories.

The main focus of the article is on how to condense a story down without losing the meat of it. It won't show you how to write a story since past articles cover that in more detail.

Writing Article - Best and Worst Tropes

One Shot will be released tomorrow. Here, we looks at the best and worst tropes (mostly my opinion, but also seen in sales of recent books). It's not so much what to write and what not to, but advice on how to tailor your work to have the best results in the current market. Be that in writing your own story or fanfiction.

Incorporating one or two of these (and avoiding the bad ones) shouldn't require drastic changes to a work. Often, it's just a small change on how you handle a sc...

Writing Article Jan 2020 - Overpowered Characters

So, the typical advice is not to write them, especially since they have a tendency to become Gary or Mary Sues. But what if your story requires a protagonist who is strong, skilled and fits all those tropes? What if you're writing the next Geralt of Rivia, Saitama or Luke Skywalker? Characters who are most certainly OP, but are still interesting and nuanced in their own rights?

How do you avoid falling into the trap of writing the dreaded Gary Stu?

This lesson is applicable for al...

November Article - 2

A second writing article for November, since I failed to provide one in October. There won't be 2 in every month. Next month's should be out on the 5th.

This article is on the importance of asking questions, though not in terms of dialogue or character questions. It's actually about story structure in terms of recognizing what questions your story creates in the minds of the reader, and how to utilise that to best result.

Questions are hooks - and if your readers find themse...

Writing Article - November

Hi all

I wanted to apologise for the last month or two on here, where I've failed to provide writing articles and rewards as promised, outside of my updates on fanfiction that is. Life took a rather busy turn and I found myself lacking time to do them, which isn't much of an excuse since I promised them in the first place. I also should have communicated that better but fell into age-old mistakes of trying to deal with it quietly and not to bother anyone.

Those distract...
