I have been on a spending spree. I was saving up for a USB gamma-ray spectrometer with your funding but a future, sponsored alternative may have presented itself, so I went ahead and bought something else. In this video I unbox a bunch of measurement instruments that will not only improve my videos but make new projects possible.
Thank you so much for your support. Especially the last one is something I would not have bought without your help.
Sorry, if I butcher a lot of language...

It is time to find out, how magnet proof an SD card marked 'magnet proof' really is.
I will thoroughly test the card and its data near some 1 tesla neodymium magnets and even go as far as to cook it on an induction cooker. A 2000W ~20 kHz AC electromagnet build for inducing serious eddy currents.
Will I be able to delete or change some data? Even when tested down to the last bit in every byte? I was surprised by the outcome...

Hi. A little update for you. I mentioned an exclusive unboxing video for you in my public February video. Unfortunately, one of the packages is delayed - of course the most valuable... So the unboxing video is also delayed - sorry, but it will come in April. I will unbox measurement equipment for around €1750 - bought with your funding!
For now, I have an old, unused clip I would like your input on, a few outtakes from 'Monster magnet meets flames' and some relaxing flame clips ...

In my next video I will test an SD card near my strongest permanent magnet and a 2000 W AC electromagnet - also known as an induction cooker...
The SD card is marked 'magnet proof', but the question is: Will the files on it be affected when I let it near the magnet and induction cooker?
I would like to hear your guess:

From magnetic makeup in my January video to high-power lasers in my February video. Wicked Lasers has sent me a new version of the LaserCube. They claim the laser power has doubled from 1 watt to 2 watt in it!
That seems crazy to me in such a small enclosure. I need to test it and will take you along on the journey.
I also open a 2 watt LaserDock with 40K scanners for comparison, so get ready for a look inside some potent show lasers.

In my public video on decoration lasers, I did not test them for infrared leakage.
They do all contain green DPSS lasers, but I expect them to have infrared filters build in. Their price and overall good design taken into consideration.
The designers build thermal sensoring into them and even thought of heating the DPSS laser for for it to work in the cold. And also the fact that I bought them all in well-established stores in Denmark - not from shady eBayers.
But I may be naiv...

And now for something completely different. Hope you are ready for it.
In my newest video I am using nail polish for the first time in my life.
Why, I hear you ask. Because it is a special type of nail polish, that has magnetically induced chatoyancy! A beautiful effect that just deepens my love for magnets and what they can do :D
I also show you a type of magnet, I haven't featured in a video before - even though it is a very common type of magnet. You most likely have meters/...

I am starting 2020 with something special: Testing one of my patron's lasers on the laser power meter bought with the help of patrons!
The laser is advertised as being below 3000 mW. What exactly does that mean? Let's find out!
I also demonstrate a safety issue, that is all too common with lasers in this form factor.
Next public video will be released Friday. It is also something special to start off 2020 with. Let me just reveal it involves beauty products for the fun and b...

Last video of this year and decade, and it's a big one! I take a look inside four decoration/garden/Christmas lasers, and test them with the laser power meter you all helped me buy.
Can you guess how powerful the lasers inside them are? They are all labeled Class 2 under 1 mW, but...
I also found some features inside, I did not expect to find in such cheap lasers.
I am sorry about the lack of impact sounds in the patron clip. My editing software/computer has apparently...

All right. Time to reveal how the magnetic hourglass reacts to a magnet. Thanks for all the votes and input on the Patreon poll!
I did not give you much info so it was mostly a blind guess for you. I do like how it ended up being almost a tie between two opposing answers. Shows it isn't easy to guess :)

Next weekend I will release a new video, where I play around with an hourglass. Not a normal hourglass, but one where the sand is magnetic!
I would like to hear, how you think the hourglass will react above a powerful magnet: Will the timing be affected? And if so, will the hourglass run faster or slower?

Time to explore how lasers react to a magnet. I will test laser pointers, the beam from the mighty Hercules laser and even a show laser near my strongest magnet: the 150x100 mm N45 magnet.
How much will bend and break? Let's find out in the latest video in my 'Monster magnet meets'-series.
N.B. I hope Sony soon will release a new version of their low-light capable A7S-series. I really need a better low-light camera for many of my videos, but the shots of the laser beam in this video ...

In an earlier video I froze a green laser pointer and noticed how it stopped working. Or did it? Just because it is not emitting green laser light, the infrared diode may still be working and emitting invisible, infrared light! Time to see if that is the case.
Next public video will be released Saturday, October 26th. It will combine two of my favorites: lasers and magnets :)

Time to test the magnetism of the 24 glass beads from my previous video. And add two extra glass samples I kinda forgot I had...
I was so surprised by the test results that I had to ask the seller - which is also the manufacturer - what they added to the glass beads. I don't have a clear answer, but I share my (qualified) guess in the video. Let me know what you think of it?

I do a lot of experiments, that never make it into videos for various reasons.
In this video, I show some almost forgotten, 3 years old recordings I did for my video 'Light Bulbs | LED vs. Incandescent'. They just didn't fit into the final video, and at that time I felt my attempts at replicating the filament wire was a total failure. But the recordings - and results - are interesting in themselves.
Hope you enjoy this look at old recordings, that haven't been watched for three y...

This was honestly meant to be a simpler video. I originally planed it to only feature my color-changing vase, since August is a busy month at my day job.
However, August has not been a good month for my channel, so I decided to go the extra mile, expand the content of the video and spend extra evenings/nights on recording, scripting and editing.
I hope you can tell that an extraordinary amount of work was put into this video and will like, comment and share the video. Let's get th...

As I was recording the peak power measurements for my latest video, I had to repeat several of the tests due to a bug in the laser power meter.
It was annoying spending extra time on something that should be an easy one-take. Especially since the bug is not consistent. It only happens sometimes - oddly enough it only happened with the LaserCube, not with the LaserDocks.
I also shortly show how I was careful with the 2 watter on the sensor and a little teaser from my upcoming video...

With a heat wave passing over Denmark (and most of Europe), this video was exhausting to make. I really need to switch my studio lights to some cooler running LED-types and aircondition my tiny editing room if this continues...
Anyway, in my newest video I open the LaserCube to figure out, how they managed to make it that small. I compare it with the insides of a similarly spec'ed LaserDock and test them in three different power trials. A 2 watt LaserDock also joins the party :)

Some extra info and a small failure on the battery change in the Gamma-Scout to compliment the public video.
Let me know, if this voice-over format works better for you than just on-screen text. I need to keep the time spend on these videos as low as possible to not interfere with the schedule for the public videos. And the cleaner voice-over on the public videos takes a long time to make. Often three whole days of recording, polishing and mental drainage for a 10 minute voice-over :)

In my latest video on Geiger counters, I asked you if I should try changing the battery in my Gamma-Scout. It was a clear yes, so here is the video about it.
I was able to find a perfectly matching 3.6V AA-battery in a Danish webshop. Now, I just need to remember how to sold and avoid getting zapped by 450+ volts :o)

Examples that looked great in my head, but functional and technical difficulties made the clips unusable in the public video. But they are still interesting clips in their own right.

Map the magnetic field of a magnet. Sounds easy and maybe even boring, but who else than me should make that video :) And the end result turned out interesting and rather complex in my opinion.
Sorry for no bonus video in May. The above video took all of my available spare time in May. It may seem in accordance with ALARP that I rarely make videos about my radioactive samples. But it is mostly because I haven't added anything to my collection for four years since my latest video on the subject.
When RadiaScan reached out to me offering one of their RadiaScan-701A Geiger counters for a video, I said yes. It could be my chance to finally get a reading on my strongest sample that my two current Geiger counters failed on. And it should be able to detect very weak sources ...

Just a little taste of what I'm involved in behind the scenes. I was contacted by a member of the Brazilian National Research Council. What element is attracted the most to a magnet? Seems simple to answer - or so I thought until I started researching and experimenting with the best candidates.
It turned into a big, time-consuming project with surprising results. Can you explain the final result of my experiments?
