1.6 Dev Poll

It turned into a real grind, but the avatar upgrade is finally complete!

The plan for 1.6 was always to Upgrade the Random NPCs.  This is required before we implement Bangkok, because right now all the NPCs feel very “same-y”.

This is because NPCs only have a few distinguishing features programmed in.  They don’t have their own Kinks, or preferences about h...

Quick dev report

It's 3.23am – what a day!  I just published the Early Access release of 1.5 (to $5 Patrons+), which means the general release will be in 14 days.  We'll use that time to keep adding features to it.

Today was mostly taken up with creating tanlines for me.  I carried out a major technical improvement to the Illustrator file, which makes it much faster to produce new skin tones.  Recolouring the entire avatar used to take around 1000 mouse clicks, but it now take...

Female Agent 1.5 Early Access release

UPDATE: 1.5.0.1 P (bug fixes) uploaded at 2111 on 1 Aug.  Thanks for the bug reports, everybody, we fixed the critical one and as many others as we could today.]

- - -

Yo dawgs, I heard you like Female Agent.

Here's the Early Access version of 1.5.  Major changes are:

  • New HD avatars
  • New "naked graduation" scene in university
  • New "digital capture session" scene in JTF Neptune bunker
  • C...

MoSCoW analysis

Last Wednesday, we carried out a "MoSCoW analysis" of what needed to be done before we could release an Early Access version of 1.5.  A MoSCoW analysis is a list of incomplete tasks, organised into 4 categories: Must be done, Should be done, Could be done, and Won't be done (in this version).

Today we finished the last M task, so the 1.5 Early Access will be released to $5 Operators+ tomorrow. &nbs...

Pre-release dev day 4

This has been another really good day.  We completed two more of the critical tasks today – that's 12/13 done!  It feels like 1.5 is on target for an early access release (to $5 Patrons+) late GMT Wednesday, with a general release on the 14th August.

Today Tommygun finished coding something cool: persistent glasses.  Geeky agents used to stop wearing glasses after they graduated; now they wear one of five eyeglasses styles...

Pre-release dev day 3

Hey guys!  We're hard at work polishing the game for the planned Early Access release on Wednesday.

We completed two more of the critical tasks today (so 10/13 are done).  We'll continue on the next dev day, which is tomorrow.

Pre-release dev day 2

Hope you guys are having great weekends!  We completed two more of the critical tasks today (so 8/13 are complete).

We added some cool new code to the dynamic cloathes that allows the game to switch to wet versions of anything the agent is wearing.  We needed this for the wet t-shirt contest (since we can't know exactly what knickers the agent will wear to the competition), but in the future we can use this same code to dynamically handle things like rain scenes. &nbs...

Dev day

We spent a very productive day getting ready for the 1.5 Early Access release that's planned for Wednesday.

At the end of the last dev day, we identified 13 critical tasks that must be done before the release can happen.  Today we completed six of them.

We also worked on some other features that we're hoping to have ready by Wednesday, like a new cum shot (in the mouth, making use of the new "O Face" facial expression ) and six packs for agents with high Strength.

Dubai dev day

We loaded dynamic cloathes into the Dubai scenes today.  This is kind of a big deal, because that meant that today – for the first time ever – it's now possible to play the development version of Female Agent 1.5 all the way through, from start to finish.

We now need a few days to fix bugs and add some polish.  We are tentatively aiming for the early release to $5 Patrons + on July 31st, followed by the general release on Augu...

Oceana dev day 2

Oceana's now working!  The dev version is now buggy but playable up to and including the final debriefing with Clark & Olivia.

The next task is to add dynamic cloathes to Dubai, the final section of the current version.

Once that's completed, we need to go back and fix some errors before the game is releasable.   For example: for some reason, in 1.4 your agent can't take off her shoes during a sex scene.  Not a huge problem in that version,...

Oceana dev day 1

Oceana's the most complex of the three nightclubs, so we weren't able to finish it all today.  We added the new dress-up scene before the club, and we're currently working on the scene when the agent strips backstage to get ready for the wet t-shirt contest.

This scene is more complex now, because we no longer control exactly what the agent will be wearing when she arrives at that scene – but the dynamic cloathes code can handle it.

In the background, we're making all kinds...

Cathouse day

Hi guys!  The game is now playable up to the morning after the Cathouse rock club.

It feels like we're making very fast progress now.  I'll start work on the third and final nightclub in the LIONESS sequence – Oceana – on the next dev day, which is tomorrow.

Tech day

I fixed the dress bug from last night, and the game is now playable up to the morning after the Corinthian sex scene.  I'd forgotten about the new "O Face" facial expression, and was pleasantly surprised when I saw it in the sex scene.  It looks great!

Today's main task was merging our development source code into the game's master source code.  This is normally the last task in a version's development cycle, but we decided to get it out of the way today in order to simpl...

Corinthian dress up day

Hi guys, I had a really good dev day today!  The game is now working up to the Corinthian nightclub.  I wrote some code today (based on the Dubai code, adapted for the new cloathes system) that allows you to pick an outfit before each club scene.  We can reüse the code for all three Scottish nightclubs.

It was great to see the dynamic cloathes working intelligently together (e.g. the tights shape changing automatically when the agent puts on or takes off high heels). &nb...

Dynamic tights day

Who likes legwear?  During the wardrobe malfunction, we worked out a new way to draw tights.  We used meshes and highlights to create a livelier, more 3D look.

We used the new look in a few Lifepath outfits.  In those scenes, we knew what shoes the agent would wear, but in the main game your agent can wear them barefoot, with low heels, with high heels, or with stripper heels. &n...

Quick dev report

It's 2206 and I'm knackered, so please excuse the quick dev report.  There was a problem with an art file which took up lots of time to fix today, but it's done now.  I also put out a dev test version to Operators +.

I'm gonna get some rest now because the next dev day is tomorrow and I want to hit it really hard.

17 July dev test version

New dev test version.  The last one let you play to the end of university, this one lets you play through the task force bunker, up to the start of Operation LIONESS.

There's another new scene in this version – your agent now gets to do some modelling for the tech guys who are building her fake social media profile.  That scene also unlocks the ability to switch to a rear view of the avatar.

Please let me know what you think here or on Discord.

Guess what I did today

If you guessed "dynamic mission cloathes", you win!  And your reward is cloathes.

A while ago, someone requested leggings that the agent can wear around but are slightly sheer – the kind that when the agent bends over in them, everybody can see what underwear she's wearing.  How's this?

Moar Cloathes

I worked more on the dynamic cloathes today.  The new modelling scene is now finished and plugged into the existing storyline.  The only trouble is that right after that scene, your agent reports to Dr Campbell in the nude, because her dynamic cloathes aren't all ready yet.

When this section's done, I'll release a dev test to Operators+, so they can experiment with the new scene and give feedback.

We're nearly onto the nightclubs.  There's a lot still to be...

Dynamic clothes day

Up to the modelling scene in the bunker, the game changes your avatar's clothes automatically.  After that, you start taking more control of the agent's look.

We don't know when you'll wear each item, so clothes from this point forward need to be dynamic – that means each item needs some code attached so that (for example) when your agent puts on a pair of high heels, the shape of her foot automatically changes.

Luckily, the game already has dynamic cl...

Implementing avatar rear view day 2

Moar work on rear view today.  There were teething problems that I needed to fix (some of them quite horrifying, like the avatar's feet being attached backwards, or her eyes blinking through the back of of her head), and some new code that needed to be introduced.

I had a really solid and productive day – in fact, I'm writing this at the end of a 14-hour shift.  I always love working on the game (even if I don't necessarily enjoy every specific task), but I feel especia...

Implementing avatar rear view

Second day on the mission cloathes!  The heroine wears different outfits to the briefing in Scotland, based on her agency role (Analysts wear a suit; Operators rock up in jeans and a leather jacket, because they're cooler).

These different paths converge in a new scene I worked on today, in which the agent has to pose in various outfits for her cover identity's fake social media pages.  After this new scene, both Analysts and Operators go forward with the same mission wardrobe...

Wait...you want me to go undercover *where*?

First dev day on the mission cloathes!  This was a very good (and very long) day.  I worked on the bunker scenes in Scotland today; adding cloathes and some new passages and dialogue between the agent and the Task Force.

We're doing a little restructuring of this section in order to introduce a couple new story elements (e.g. the agent being issued a "mission wardrobe" that she'll use in Scotland, Dubai and Bangkok).  That will help make the whole storyline run a bit smoo...

I finished the Operator clothes!  Arsenal Jacob asked for a sneak peek:

That means we're finally done with the Lifepath for now.  The final big task of this update is to code in the actual mission wardrobe (e.g. what she wears in Scotland and Dubai).

I can't wait to get cracking, but I've got meetings at my real job tomorrow, so I'll start that on Wednes...

Operator cloathes day 3

Hi guys and gals, I hope you had a good weekend.

I was hoping to finish the Operator clothes today.  I'm very close – just the Syria ones to do now – but it's 2200 and I can feel my productivity grinding to a slither.

So I'll get some rest and finish this on the next dev day, which is tomorrow!

Fast dev report

Fuck, I just realised it's eight o'clock!  Today I worked on cloathes.  Victoria has finished the money shot artwork – which unfortunately I can't preview on Patreon – and she also did something cool with the "avatar talking" art, which I'll share with you on the next dev day, which is tomorrow!

Sorry for the shit dev report, I really had to stop working about an hour ago.  :-(  Got to run, see you tomorrow!

Analyst cloathes day

Today I completed the Analyst clothes.  This was mainly suits in different colours, plus some minor code (like having the agent remove her facial piercings during the agency interview process).  All done!

Next task is the Operator clothes, which are a little more complex.  I'll start them tomorrow.

It was a pain in the ass, but I really like this c...

Uni polishing & new scene

Now all the avatar art has been created, it needs to be implemented into the game before 1.5 can be released.  I'll report at the end of each dev day on what was achieved.

I write at the end of a long but productive day!  I finished all the polishing I needed to do on the university part of the Lifepath, and am ready to push ahead with the agent's agency career.

This section should be quicker, since her outfits are less varied once she joins her national agency....
