New Remix - We Three Kings

It's time for the holidays and that means another Christmas remix! Last year was Carol of the Bells and this year I wanted to remix We Three Kings. I really like both parts of this song and I think it fits really well in a dubstep format.

Mp3, 24-bit wave, & artwork are attached and the Release Archive has also been updated.

Thank you for your support here on Patreon. I hope you have...

Nov 30 - What's Above

This is the last idea for melodic dubstep/chillstep & cinematic/orchestral and during the 1st half of the writing session, I was really vibing with the it. But as the session progressed, I liked the idea less and less. The chords are cool, but it doesn't sound very unique and it's too similar to everything else I've written over the last couple months.

The idea is okay, but I'm not sure it's high on my list to return to. But what do you think? - Is this something you want to...

New Release - Lonely Shadows

Time for some more deep house! This song was originally written in 2020 and it went through many iterations. I'm happy with how it turned out - a dark, but chill piano-based deep house instrumental. This one is available for free for everyone!

Mp3, 24-bit wave, & artwork are attached and the Release Archive has been updated.

As always, thank you so much for your support. Enjoy the music and have a great weekend!

Nov 23 - Northstar

This is my first session from my home studio after my trip to Europe & some charity work last week. I continued with the chillstep/dubstep/orchestral vibes and wrote some chillstep and I like how it turned out. Honestly, a lot of the ideas over the last month have been pretty good - now it's just time to finish some songs!

This chord progression is really interesting to me. It's uplifting, but not exactly happy. More contemplative or pensive? I'm not sure. I feel like this song is a...

Nov 16 - Lexington

This week I'm out of town for some charity work with Mindcrack & Extra Life. I made some time in between my commitments to write an idea and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

While it's pretty rough at the moment, I see this song developing similar to Mount Olympus. It needs a lot of work, but I think it has a lot of promise. There are a few ideas that are similar to this and I definitely will be returning to this one to finish it.

What do you think? Is this som...

New Release - Away (Instrumental)

I'm not including as many instrumentals and extended mixes on albums these days because it clutters things up, so I wanted to make this one available for free since I always get questions about it!

Mp3, 24-Bit wave, & Artwork are attached!

Thanks for listening & thank you for supporting me on Patreon :) Have a great weekend and I'll see you next week!

Nov 10 - Bittersweet Departure

This week I only really had time to write some music on my flight back from Paris and I wanted to write something that summed up what I was feeling about my trip to Europe. It was an amazing experience and looking back I did so many things in many different places. While I'm sad that I'm leaving, I love what I did. And I am happy to be returning home (can't wait to see the doggo!).

I like this idea and I think it has promise. It could develop sort of like Mount of Olympus. But in its cu...

New Release - In The Shallows

I hope you are doing well and still enjoying the new album! For the last few years, I've been involved with the Love Tropics charity event and today I have a surprise release - In the Shallows.

It's the theme for this year's event and it's an uplifting theme about how climate change is affecting the tropics below and above water. I wanted the 1st part of the song to feel like you're underwater and emerging as you walk on to the coast throughout the rest of the song.

Nov 2 - Medici

This week, I didn't have much time to sit down and write an idea, but I was able to put something quick together one morning in Florence. This one has some orchestral influences again and I envision this one developing like Death of a King - a bit slower paced, orchestral-focused, melodic dubstep.

I really like how this one turned out and I think I will return to it - but what do you think? Are the orchestral, melodic dubstep ideas something you want to see more of? And is ...

Oct 26 - The Climb

For the next month and a half, I'll be focusing on Melodic Dubstep, Chillstep, and Hybrid Orchestral/Electronic ideas. This week's idea is a bit of all of that and I think it turned out really well. I sat in a café in Amsterdam with a "blank page" and this ended up coming out. I also didn't intend to write a song in 3/4 timing, but it worked out in the end.

Honestly, I'm pretty happy with this ...

Oct 19 - Clearings

I had a short session today to get an idea put together before I hop on a flight. Lo and behold, it came together nicely! I'm not really sure what this is, but it's pretty cool. It feels floaty and a little bit cinematic with some melodic house flair.

I do like this one - it's definitely a vibe. I don't think I'd spend a lot more time on it, but it could be something I return to eventually. What do you think? Is this something you'd like to see me finish? - Let me know in the co...

Blocking the Sky Redux - Patreon Release

Firstly - thank you for supporting me here on Patreon! I would not be still here creating and writing music without your support and all the support here on Patreon makes albums like this possible.

This album is a direct followup to Blocking the Sky and it includes 15 songs. It is a return to the style and vibe of the original album that released 10 years ago and an homage to the Minecraft community as well as all the people who have listened to my music over the years.

Oct/Nov Genre Poll

As most of you know, I'm headed to Europe for the next 3-4 weeks. While I'm away, I'll still be writing some ideas and I'll continue the WIP posts here every week. So on that note - what types of songs do you want me to focus on while I'm away (and when I get back in mid-November)?

This time around, I am going to write in either of the top 2 genres so I have a bit of flexibility - vote below!

Thanks as always for your support - I'll see some of you in Amsterdam fo...

Oct 12 - Midnight Chase

This week I tried writing something darker. I didn't expect to write a Halloween song, but the spook needed to be heard haha.

This is a cool idea and a nice change of pace but I don't think it is something I'd return to. Overall, the idea doesn't feel like it goes anywhere or tells a complete story and the main emotion of the song (while interesting) doesn't really apply outside of spooky Halloween season.

But what do you think? - Is this something you want me to finish? A...

Oct 5 - Falling Leaves

Whelp - I totally forgot to post a poll last weekend with all my album prep work, so this week I continued with some chill stuff. This one turned out different than I expected, but I think I like it? I'm not sure, but it's a nice change of pace compared to what I've been writing the last few months.

Chillstep, lofi, and orchestral vibes on this one. This feels more like a "vibe" than a proper song, but I think it works. I'm not sure I'd put a lot more work into this one, but I could see...

New Release - Dream to Forget

Last week on stream I announced a followup album to Blocking the Sky & this is the first single! Written in the style of Dream to Remember, this song (and album) is an homage to the style I was writing 10 years ago and the support that the Minecraft community (and many of you) gave me during that time.

This releases everywhere on Friday but Patrons can download it today - the album will release on October 21!

Yeah - I know I'm pretty late to the party here, but I just saw Top Gun Maverick last week and the soundtrack was phenomenal. The original movie didn't resonate with me but the sequel was fantastic!

I hope you enjoy the music and have a great weekend!

Sept 28 - Beyond the Threshold

For the last idea this month I wanted to switch up genres and I ended up going the melodic dubstep route. During the middle of my session yesterday, I wasn't feeling the idea much - but it came together in the end and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

This is missing a lot (sound design, FX, extra layers, etc), but I really like what's there. I can see this being a really strong song with a good vocal, so I'm definitely going to return to it at some point.

Fall 2022 Merch Run!

The hoodies are finally in production and I should have some news & specifics on that front soon! Thank you for being patient with me - I've learned a lot and the next apparel run should be a lot smoother.

So now it's time to get started on the Fall Merch run! I want this to be a more manageable item or a group of smaller items that can ship out to you before the holidays.

Sept 21 - Effervescence

This week, I set out with the intention of writing something a bit sadder and more "emotional" (whatever that means, haha). It's not exactly what I had in mind, but I think it turned out pretty good and it's got more of a complex of an emotion than the last couple ideas.

I really like the organic layers in this one - I usually use strings of some sort in a lot of my songs, but it's been some time since I've used a cello as the lead instrument. I think it works well and balances out the ...

Sept 14 - I Don't Believe

This week's session was a bit of a rough one - I wrote several ideas and wasn't really vibing with much until the very end. After some rough arrangement and extra layers I ended up with what you hear here.

After writing, I wasn't satisfied with this idea. I didn't think it had much promise and felt like the lead melody was too repetitive. But listening back this morning, it's actually pretty good! Funny how that works...

I'm still worried that it's a bit too basic. Maybe a minimal...

Sept 7 - Driftwood

This month I'm writing some Melodic / Emotional / Sad / Reflective song ideas. For this week's session I wanted to start off with piano and just let the music dictate the type of song. The result is the version you hear above!

I like this idea, but it's very simple. It needs more layers, better drums, FX, automation, and some extra transition elements... but I'm not sure it will ever be more complex than it already sounds. Though, maybe it doesn't need that. It is relaxing & reflect...

Aug 31 - Wavering Hope

For the last idea this month, I wanted to switch up the type of progressive house a bit. I started out with a bunch of chord progressions and chose the one I thought was the most unique. After some more layers and arrangement, I ended up at the version you hear above.

This idea is neat, but I'm not sure I'll return to it. The chord progression has a really interesting bit (towards the end). But other than that, I'm not sure I'm super into it. It does have some old school AN vibes, but t...

Aug 24 - Coming Up For Air

Before stream this week, a melody popped into my head so while I was prepping, I got a basic version into the project. It's not often that this happens, so I ran with it on stream and I really like how it turned out.

During the session, I focused on getting the basic feel of the song that I was going for and arranging the idea into a few sections. It's missing a lot and it's a bit generic (huzzah 4 chords!), but it has its own spin and uniqueness

My one worry is that this is "...

This week I'm back with another progressive house idea and I'm much happier with the result of this week's session. This idea certainly isn't as complete as last week's idea, but this is what I envisioned coming out of these sessions in my mind when I was considering returning to write more ideas in this genre.

Overall, the bulk of a "song idea" is here, but the only real part that's fleshed out is the...
