Pantsless Pancake Selfie (nudity)

Sometimes an image wanders into my mind that I just need to get down in scribbly-sketch form before.  This time around its Cindy (Cinders) in her modern day incarnation taking a selfie to send along to her husband.

She's clearly proud of the pancake breakfast she's made.  She's also found  her favorite nook to eat them in.

Pants aren't required.

But Pancakes!  Everyone loves pancakes!  Her stallion likes pancakes as well.

The angle of this image was d...

Swishin' Breakfast. (flats)

Finally got the flats done for the painting this month.  I tend to do a fairly basic run of flats for anything I'm going to be painting in full.  I find the more linework there is the more thinks I need to edit in the overpainting, so I try to keep lines to a 'cell animation' level.

I had to restart this once as the file went wonky on me after trying to save it and closing the program.  Its a known issue with what I use and sadly the version of CSP I had wasn't the newest one.. ...

A Quick Update

I finally compiled the master list of $10 patrons and should send out a notice about the free sketch to the next person on the list on the 24th this month.  I like to try and aim for the 15th each month but its been more busy than usual in other job aspects.

That said, I'm slowly making my way through the new folks who signed up, and once done I'll reset the list and start doing second pics for everyone as well.

I was asked elsewhere if I could send out hard copies of things I sketc...

Storefronts Scribbles!

A warm-up series of simple sketches done before working on this month's painting.  I love interesting storefronts.  When researching various 15th to 17th century storefronts I kept finding some amazing places that could be adapted to the style of cities in Felwroth, and what started as a side-research rummage turned into hours of my life just saving all sorts of buildings and storefronts.

In this case, its four places in the city of Sarcorra (city of spires), a larger city on it's ow...

Spring Seed Shopping

A little picture done for practice.  Slightly more 'cartoony' than I usually do on purpose, as it forces me to not over-detail everything to death.

I saw the first glimpses of lawn under the heaps of snow here, and my head was filled with Cinders bouncing around, excited for the upcoming Spring, wanting to pick up all the supplies she could from her local shops in hopes to start growing all sorts of plants as soon as possible.

Also:  Old gnome feeding birds.

Whispered Pontifex of the Nocturnal Sodality

Desiimontarus bore many eldritch shrines and buildings amidst its sprawl of ponderous looming homes and temples.  The city is the largest port on the eastern Aegencald, founded by the Othiskarri, a draconic people of complicated politics from the Othiskar islands far off the coast.

One of the strangest pair of structures in the maze-like city housed two of the oldest religions of the known world, ancient rites and priesthoods that survived even the wide-scale Amitalantos infenal war again...

Stuff and Things for March

I was off to a bit of a slow start at the end of Feb and beginning of March this year.  It actually feels like I've had maybe about 10 hours at home in the last couple weeks, and I've been to every medical office in the city.

But I am starting to get things together again.  I've been thinking about some things that I'd like to put my energy towards artistically.  The biggest part is getting the painting done each month (This month will be the image of Cinders dancing in the kitc...

Of Birds, Tea, and Autumn

A case of an 'NPC' in a game I briefly ran that became a more permanent resident of the world.  Chime is the first real look I've had at the Aaracockra people on Felwroth, and she's been fairly charming.

She sips (as much as a bird can sip) an evening tea, looking out over the ancient oaks and white ash, weather just on the cusp of dipping into the cold as evening wander steadily closer, pinks snaking across the azure until they leave midnight in their wake.

I think there will be mo...

Birds and Tea (flat colours)

I've finally sat still for a day and picked an image to start doing colour work on.

I wanted to try out something a little more loose and painterly with the background before putting in the general flat colours (it oddly looks like an unfinished animation cell now, which wasn't intended but does amuse me).

Hoping to have this done within a week or so..  I'm still behind.  I have a birthday coming up this month which will throw another pause into things, but at least getting fla...

Singing over Tea (Linework)

I finally got around to getting the linework cleaned up for this image.  I plan on adding colour though I'm not sure if I'll leave it as an illustrative drawing or do a full painting of it just yet.  I guess I'll see how the flat colours/pre-lighting goes!

Cinders singing the "I like being a Neigh." song as Aodhan and Berrand listen.. And watch the 'swish your tail' dance.

A Short Note (Might be offline briefly)

Hey all!

Just letting folks here know that I might be offline for a short while.  We had to get tech out here to look at the internet problems we've been having and its looking to be more extensive than we first thought.

This won't interrupt my work schedule, and I'll be able to keep plugging away at paintings.  It just means that I might be delayed in posting sketches for the next few days depending on what has to be done (Its looking like some rewiring to the box outside and ...

Neighs have the best dances

Just a preview of a rough 'life scene' of the Stormshoals.  Cinders is shameless about singing her favorite songs (this one has swishing) and she's pretty good at it.  Berrand and Aodhan both seem to enjoy the show with breakfast.

Sylvianne's Low Lantern Rest

A sketch for Sylvian who was last month's Patron on the monthly sketch list.  I found it amusing that January was unofficially a 'draw birds' month and the random name-draw name program picked someone who, in fact, wanted me to draw a bird!

I still love drawing forest/outdoor scenes, this one at a rest-spot lit by small lanterns hanging on the low curls of strange trees.  Its one of those pictures where I can imagine the character just wanting to escape from it all and re-connect wit...

Rawr, I'm a monstah! (Mine Revenant)

The longer I'm able to run a current D&D game, the more things I find I'll randomly draw out as a warm up.

I ended up improvising a lot and using much of the art and maps that I've posted over the last while.  It seems to be going well!

I might, in the future, do an 'old school' mock up of a module complete with black and white art and maps that I've used in this storyline and eventual run-through.  Its odd how these things come together.

Its part of what inspired me ...

Galcaerrow Mines (Final Map)

Frustration ebbed over the face of the hobgoblin who glared down into a yellowed and frayed parchment set atop a pile of similar yellowing papyrus.

"The bones of one should know" Yellow eyes leered for another moment before shaking overtook the creature "Why is the answer not within the hollows!  The old marrow.  Tell me!"

Spinning, a bolt of embers wreathed in greasy ebon smoke streaked from his grasp to a hollow-eyed skeleton chained to a great stone carved pillar, striking w...

Of Birds and Tea (sketch)

I've missed the autumn, and wanted to draw a full image of Chime at her little makeshift scatterboard hut near the hollow town of Blackpine, taking in one of the few lovely parts of living in 'the sorrow' that is the dark-touched areas from Whiterook.

The tea itself is a survival technique.  It keeps the eyes of the Lycan from her.  It also makes her susceptible to injury, and visions brought by interrupted sleep.

But Shadowbark tastes lovely enough, if bitter, and when one can...

Moss (The Chronicle) - Concept sketches

"Moss.. We must stop." a faint, shaking woman's voice whispered

The lichen covered stone and slate humanoid paused in its rumbling stride, looking to the slight Elven woman in its arms "We are but a few strides from the platform, Mistress--"

"No.  I am tired." she eyed her creation through lidded eyes, face streaked with dust and mud "Please, put me down here"

The creature obeyed, gently laying the small form down amidst what it perceived to be the more comfortable pile of gra...

Galcaerrow Mines (Upper) Sketch

I hadn't planned on posting any other of the maps I'd made until someone noted that they're just as 'world building' as other images.

Maps tend to be my 'off time' art.  When I take Saturdays off work I find myself wanting to sketch out ideas about where people might live, and I've loved doing that via maps.  It actually leads  me to think of the story that lead to the place in question.  In this case, the Galcaerrow Mines.  Its one place that actually sparked off my t...

Galcaerrow: Lower cave entry

The prayers and worried song ended here first.  The dark horizon they saw hurtling towards them over the plains and past the boreal trees slammed through the lower tunnels like a heavy black smoke.  Every corner became filled with it.

The darkness.

The sin of mankind.

Soon the song of disaster would end, though none in the lower caves were still alive to hear it.  There was little left.  The carts lay where the work stopped. ...

The Vacationing!

I'm listening to advice this year and actually taking a few days off over Christmas.  I haven't done this in years now, as I usually work retail or other jobs that go full Scrooge vs. Marley on their employees over the holidays.

I'll still have a few minor bits of artwork to put out over the last of the month, but I'm not taking on new major projects until after Christmas, outside of dealing with family and the running around that seems to crop up for the holiday.

I hope the holiday...
