More Fixes / Overhauls

I finally learned my lesson when I started working on the new lightlock feature (turning monsters to stone) today, and made sure it was all set up properly BEFORE going to apply it to the rest of the monsters. I also used some common events to make everything even easier, just in case I decide to change anything concerning this feature in the future.

Monster Reduction (Lightlocks remove monsters?)

I want to reduce the monsters in The Dungeon and Crypts by about 50%. Are there any other areas where they seem too numerous? Please let me know!

The other thing I want to talk about is the possibility of making Lightlocks more useful. Basically, would it interest anyone for the Lightlocks to remove all monsters on a level when they are solved? This wouldn't be too difficult to implement, and would make solving them a bit more appealing.

Changing the Undergarden Wyverns

Would anyone miss the wyverns as they are now? After the fight with Brandeis in the tutorial, I would imagine that the "dodge the projectiles" bit would get a little old. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, I'm thinking I should make the other two wyverns strictly turn based fights. If anyone likes them how they are now then feel free to let me know.

Fixin' Stuff

I replaced the old leaves extractor with a new one that doesn't use the alchemy skill. You get 2 cloth (or 2 water) for each Leaves. It's like the gem/gold exchange. Hopefully I thought of any erroneous numbers the player might input. xD
50 is too much, obviously (can't hold more than 99), and anything that would result in how many you have plus whatever you wanted to make being more than 99.

Getting more than 2 items from 1 leaf was probably overkill anyway.

Various Overhauls

I've been getting a ton of bug reports. Replying to them doesn't get much done, but it does help me see weaknesses in the game and also helps me to see how to correct them.

Working on Bugs

The day 16 & 17 clinic issue should be fixed now. One of the switches I was using to skip some dialogue seems to have been the culprit. I might eventually find where that switch is being turned on at, but for not you'll be able to reset it by entering/leaving Sienna's room in The Tower, which should make the clinic on days 16 and 17 work better.

One small step for the plot-

Finally got that Penitentiary boss fixed the way I want it (eventing anyway). It still needs a bit of tweaking as far as the combat is concerned, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Now I just need to add a somewhat lengthy story event that happens after said boss fight. It will feature one of the last decision points in the game. I still need to make two more besides this (that will probably happen beforehand), but this will probably be the most complicated of the three.

Finding Sakina (and stuff)

Thanks to Evolution's sprites of Sakina I was able to put her in the game. She's found in The Catacombs and, once released, will appear in the House of Pleasure. The Catacombs can't be accessed yet, of course. She still needs House of Pleasure dialogue, eventing, and sex sprites. She's guarded by the most difficult boss in the game so far. I couldn't test out whether it's actually do-able (the legit way) or not, but
everything else is working properly.

Penitent

I finished up The Caverns 1 to 4 so I've went back to working on the Penitentiary. It's a really old area, actually. I made it a long, long time ago, before The Tower, and even before The Crypts were added into the game. Likely right after I finished The Dungeon many years ago.

As you can imagine, it's like going through a drawer that you haven't looked in for 5 years. "What's this? What did I need this for? What was I thinking? What is this junk anyway?"

Ice Caverns

I've been working on the ice caverns a bit more. I noticed some of the caverns entrances/exits aren't working very well (stop on them, use action button.. sloppy). I've changed them so that you go to the next floor just by stepping into the doorway. I'd like to change all of the open doorways in the game to function this way.

Commission Contemplations

Still haven't heard back from the animation commission yet. It's been a couple weeks now, I think. I'll try to hold on to some cash just in case something happens, but I think it's possibly dead in the water.  So next month we'll get some new artwork.

I'll let you guys decide on what to get next. Sienna getting bednapped (1st or 2nd night in The Abyss, I think), or the cat girl?

Cavern Monsters

I started working on adding the monsters to the caverns. Almost got them finished, just need to add the encounter event stuff now.

After that I'll try to redo the Dark Drake boss (it's a pretty sucky boss fight, and glitchy to boot). I'll just turn make it a somewhat easy turn based fight.

Then I'll start working on the boss fight for each floor after that. The Dark Drake will actually be moved to the first caverns floor.

More Catacombs Work

Still working on the catacombs. The layout, enemies, and goodies placement is roughly 70% finished now. The 2nd boss fight needs a little more work but the 2nd level is otherwise finished. I just started working on the 3rd level. After I finish I'll go back and fix up the lightlock system for all 3 levels.

Simple but Effective

Most of the remaining bosses will be turn based fights, which means it will take me much less time to add them in the game. I just finished the first Catacombs boss. I did not test the difficulty of the fight (scary stuff) but the functionality is 100% there. Just two more bosses and I'll be finished with the Catacombs. Yay! :D

I had originally intended on making one of these fights an action sequence (button mashing?). I don't really think that's the best idea anymore.

Catacombs

I've been working on the catacombs. I've got the layout and most enemies added for the first level (of three total). It's a bit complicated, as each level has multiple rooms with multiple entrances/exits. It's not maze-like though, so it should be difficult to actually get lost (then again, all 3 catacombs levels will have the same design).

I might want to add a variation of the ghoul encounter (2 or 3 instead of just one ghoul). Perhaps for the mummy as well. I tested the fights and they...

I post a lot, so in case you missed it the closed beta 0.65 release is down a couple posts. :)

I couldn't really decide what needed to be worked on (or I could, but didn't want to do that) so I went to mapping out future areas again. I went from the catacombs (Crypts 11 to 13) to the Coliseum (Dungeon 16). I also updated the debris events in the catacombs, making them more monster friendly, and some needed to be fixed such that you can't walk through them.

Popular Songs?

I would love to use a couple songs in the game, but licensing would probably be a huge headache, super costly, and I bet most people in the music industry would be very much opposed to me using their song in a game that has rape content. Eep! One song is "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch", the version from Strange Magic. It would be perfect for this one scene but.. *sigh* probably can't happen. If the song itself is public domain then I could hire someone to sing it though! :D I wonder how that works?

Challenge Rewards?

I'm not sure how many of you have done the zombe horde boss room yet, but I've decided to change a few things about it. Namely the rewards.

I've decided that the number of fights are  only annoying during testing. In an actual game you just have to go through the boss room once, so it's not as big of a deal.

I've tweaked a boss death a bit. His parts now go in different directions instead of all piling together.

Playtesting

I've been going through The Vinery. The treant boss went very well (nice and challenging). Mephilin needed some work (boss life indicators, among other things). The fight is mildly awkward at first, but rather easy to figure out. It mostly just needs some cosmetic work now.

I also like the regular fights in The Vinery. Not too difficult, but challenging enough that you don't really want to fight them all, even though the exp is really good.

The Mines (and stuff)

I decided to push past my aversion to it and get it over with. I went through the first 4 levels of The Mines and tweaked some stuff. I still need to actually playtest it. Levels 5 through 10 won't be accessible until AFTER Kendra's big quest, so I'll worry about those when I get to that point. I also installed Light Lock teleporters for levels 1 through 4. The hint tablets are fairly easy (1 or 2 tablets per level).

Kendra and the Time Bandit

I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but over at Hongfire it was brought to my attention that the abyssian you run into (right after you finishing up Gray's quest) when you leave Kendra's room would basically lock up the game. Not a big surprise, considering all the game stopping bugs that FSA is usually riddled with. >.>;

Well I finally got another trait in the game. Had lots of issues with the event that gives it. it's the same event that has two modifiers for Sienna's personality. At any rate, finally got the trait to show up after spending a few hours on it. I hope its function is functional, as I didn't test that.  xP

What to work on next?

So many choices. I guess I will work a little on the map layout for the haunted house area later on in the game.

What I really should be working on:

Yellow

I've been working on Yellow's events a bit. The most annoying thing I've noticed is when you choose to give him a hand job or fellatio it seems to take FOREVER! Especially if you don't give him a day to rest. This was originally intended to keep players from using him as a means to get infinite gold.

Since there's going to be a quick limitation on him I think it would be better to leave off the time increments. Maybe it would even be best to just have the sex options progress, rather tha...

Here's a rough sketch of the big anal commission. My only complaints are the penis seems a wee bit large and I want the penis to come inside. What do you guys think? I think I should ask em to reduce the penis size by about 20 to 25%. Please let me know your thoughts on this! It's very important as this is a big commission ($300+).

Thoughts on the House of Pleasure

Initially I was thinking it would be neat to have cages around the sides of the room where you could go pick a monster to display, interact with it, etc.. But there will also be spots next to each lady where you can select monsters. Having the cages then seems kinda redundant. Not to mention the complications (if monster is at location X then disable it from the list at location Y). So I guess I'll be getting rid of the cages. I want the owning of the monsters to feel more like befriending them ...
