This concept is one I've been thinking about for a while now.
I actually want to paint it as a full piece, in full colour, so I thought Inktober would be a good opportunity for me to sketch it out. :)
My video for days 15 to 17 will be out tonight by the way, a couple days late, but better late than never, I suppose, haha!

Another simpler one for today, as I needed to spend some time packaging and sending orders.
I wanted a slightly more uplifting concept for today too, in contrast to yesterday.
I like alternating them it seems, it isn't fully conscious, but I sometimes feels like I need to lighten up my own mind after drawing a particularly dark image.

Here are my sketches for days 5 and 6 of Inktober.
I didn't post 5 yesterday as I was incredibly exhausted, and we had a friend staying over, so I decided to take a break and enjoy her company.
5 was not initially supposed to be this design, but I did a complete 180 on it and and this is what it ended up as. I kinda like it when that happens.
Today was easier. Thank you so much for all your very kind and encouraging message everyone, I really appreciate all your support, and I am incredibly lucky to have you all!

Today was tough, not gonna lie.
I am struggling a lot with comparing myself to last year and trying to step away from that and focus on doing pieces I love, but the self doubt and fear are really nagging at me and making me quite mentally exhausted.

Today DID NOT go to plan, hahaha.
You may notice that this is not the sketch I posted earlier today, and that is because I had a bit of a anxiety attack about the last one, and botched it royally. So I'll be revisiting the other concept later, but for today, I went for this one instead.

Here's a sneak peak of today's Inktober drawing, before I ink it.
I've been working while listening to the Alice Isn't Dead Podcast (made rather difficult by a man leaf blowing under my window all morning. Seriously, how many leaves is there down there...).
The podcast is amazing, but puts me in a rather eery, melancholic mood. Which I supposed isn't too ill suited to me general aesthetic, haha.

And I had such a stressful week-end working on orders, that I really needed a piece that required some mindless texture and detail while watching a brainless TV show.
So here we go.
This was fun to draw, although I suspect I'll have to calm down for the rest of my concepts, since my wrist is already telling me off, haha.

I did a small painting, and a small process GIF to go with it! My first ever. T'was fun!
Here's "Shadowed". Watercolour and gouache on 300gsm Saunders Waterford watercolour paper.
I painted this piece in the same sketchbook I painted "Cherish", so it has a beautiful deckled right edge, and this painting in particular has a stamp on the bottom left, which I always think looks gorgeous.

The scary thing with studies, is the worry that I won't be able to reproduce the details I like in it in my final piece...
Recording the process, taking pictures at regular intervals, and taking notes, all helps me remember which steps I took to get to the final result.
