Storms

Yesterday was a wild one. Again we had major storms, incredible lightning show and loss of electricity. The electric really flickered on and off for the entire afternoon and into the evening. I stepped outside while there was a break in the storm and got this picture of the clouds. There’s something about being up in the mountains, so close to the clouds, it’s such a powerful feeling that it’s both inspiring and humbling. I realize how small I am in comparison to the universe and nature...

Water

ā€œWater does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.ā€

New, old Stripping History book

ā€œSin in the second cityā€ by Karen Abbott is a must read for stripping history because we are studying the Everleigh Club and sisters in preparation for an interview about the famous sisters with Chicago’s most naked woman, Michelle L’ amour and her partner Frankie. The two of them are quite knowledgeable on this topic so I’m thrilled to be talking to them soon.

It’s a pretty easy book to find so go grab one for yourself and prepare for an unforgettable story.

Sneak peek

Here’s a little sneak peek of the tiny Chenille apartment I made in my downstairs speakeasy and studio for myself and my friends (please excuse my mess I was workshopping costumes) When we have Patreon live shows we will be getting ready in this space. It’s true vintage Criollo architecture and terazo tile. I love the vintage feel.

This space used to be a bakery a lifetime ago. My friend Gabriela says her Daddy would take her in to pick out Donas when she was a little girl. I adore...

Aguadilla

My friend finally found an apartment in Aguadilla. She has been looking for a long time. It’s incredibly difficult to find apartments or houses, rentals or even to purchase on the island for a reasonable price anymore. She was so lucky to find this great little spot in Aguadilla just up from the ocean.

Here are a few of the photos from her place. I have posted many photographs of this residence before but I didn’t know what it was. It was just so beautiful I had to photograph it. D...

Selke Spirit

ā€œThere are many famous stories that revolve around selkies in Ireland. One particular one is that of Thady Rua O’Dowd, a clan chieftain who was tasked with finding himself a bride upon rising to clan leadership. Apparently, choosing a wife was more difficult than he realised, and he could not makeup his mind.

Out walking on the beach to clear his head, Thady stumbled upon a beautiful maiden combing her hair. Though unclothed, she had a magical cape or coat next...

For now

ā€œFor now she need not think of anybody. She could be herself, by herself. And that was what now she often felt the need of - to think; well not even to think. To be silent; to be alone. All the being and the doing, expansive, glittering, vocal, evaporated; and one shrunk, with a sense of solemnity, to being oneself, a wedge-shaped core of darkness, something invisible to others... and this self having shed its attachments was free for the strangest adventures.ā€

Life Stuff

Jeremy jumps on that big bird today to fly away to Chicago to help make a music festival so we had a beautiful date night last night and celebrated our last 24 hours. There is a great little outdoor ocean side restaurant and bar down the hill from our house that we love to frequent. The food is always great, ice cold beer and the view is obviously incredible.

I’m going to miss him so much. While we’re driving to catch the puddle jumper from Mayaguez to San Juan, I’m starting to f...

What lies in the negative space?

I like to keep it positive and feel like a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) is essential to survival but struggle with negativity sometimes. Especially when when I’m in the flow of my creative process, I tend to have moments of doubt or even panic. I’m coming to realize that these down times are essential to my creative process.

Without my intense self directed criticism I wouldn’t push myself into uncomfortable territory. Creativity, in large part is about being uncomfortable. View Post

Forced relaxation

I’m taking a day of forced relaxation. Currently I’m laying in bed with cramps and wishing I could barrel through the next few days regardless of how I’m feeling but today’s got me down. Neck deep in chenille blankets with my heating pad on my belly.

My movie of choice is ā€œSecret Windowā€. I’m at the part when he realizes he has multiple personalities. It’s hardly a reliable resource for DID ā€œ(Dissociative identity disorder (DID), previously known as multiple personali...

ā€œEverything’s trash but it’s okā€

Confidence

Confidence is a beautiful thing but how can we achieve it?

One tip is to stop comparing yourself to others. Wake up each day and meet yourself where you are. By this I mean, accept yourself each day as is. Thin hair, crooked teeth, overweight, underweight, acne or clear skin. Accept yourself as is, right now, appreciating and accepting your idiosyncrasies. Be in the moment with yourself. Be kind with yourself, knowing what you want and thinking through how to get there.

Sneak peek of what’s to come this week on Super Volcano Tier

Everything is coming along beautifully inside the house and we are getting sets build out everywhere. Currently I’m enjoying our tropical bathtub set, it’s perfectly placed outside where we can still get that beautiful sunlight that we loved so much in our old spot.

My Happy (and Healthy) Place

Some days, for no apparent reason I wake up and feel utterly depleted. My body aches, my heart races, and my mind just won't stand still no matter how hard I try. Employing mind-body connections can help from time to time, either deep breathing exercises or yoga can do the trick. Then there are days when heavy artillery is needed, and I find myself compelled to commit my body to the ocean. The moment I get to the beach, I'm instantly changed. Walking barefoot across the hot sand, feeling the ...

ā€œToo dark for lifetimeā€

The story Haley and I have been producing about Lorraine Gail Smith, a dancer in Boston’s Combat Zone, was given a pass by Lifetime. Their exact words were ā€œit’s too dark for lifetimeā€ā€¦

Is it a bit too dark or does Lifetime cringe at humanizing sex workers?

Dark does not seem to be a path Lifetime avoids.

Im a bit confused, Considering this is a partial list of Lifetimes most popular vehicles, including…

[SUBTITLES] Stripping History with SW Activist Jo Weldon

Welcome to this episode of stripping history! We’re happy to have you. Today, as always we are normalizing respectful conversations around striptease and sex work.

Because laws and religion have villianized nudity and overt sexuality, we humans have been indoctrinated with shame, especially around the topic of sex.

Because of this indoctrination, these can be difficult and taboo topics. We are going to challenge each other to hold space for taboo topics on this forum. That sa...

Wet Wednesday: New Goldfish Costume

Yesterday we went to the mangroves to shoot some more of my goldfish series with Jeremy. My friend at @oakumcollection made this beautiful Goldfish costume for me to wear above or underwater. The first thing I noticed was how sturdy this set is. I did not lose any fringe or a single sequin in the ocean. That was very important to me. My goal when shooting these Patreon underwater adventure sets is to leave the smallest footprint possible.  We were shooting in the mangroves and it’s pre...
