Right now I am working on the release. The game will come either today or tomorrow. That is why I will push the Monday update back for a few days.

Monday Update #21

Good news. I am now completely sure that I will release the first episode this year! The first raw version is actually finished and now the final polish will be applied.

 Everything new:

  • I updated the girls sprites to improve performance.
  • I finished a few new backgrounds.
  • I remade the first 4 scenes, to raise their quality standard to that of the new two scenes.

Monday Update #20

We've reached #20 and development is still going smoothly, even though I've encountered a temporary motivational low.

 Everything new:

  • I made all sprites for the first girl. She has 9 expressions and all are animated.
  • The backgrounds got their night versions.
  • I found a bunch of good tracks to have some nice background music.
  • Soundeffects are also beeing implemented, with a whole bunch of scene specific unique sounds.

Dev Log #5 | Agony, or about Sprites and Sounds

This weeks Dev Log is late, sorry. I was a bit busy and kept pushing it back. Part of it is the pure agony I went through. I am exaggerating a bit. And this post is a bit longer then usual. The Gif is also not perfect, it looks better in game.

Monday Update #19 | Lots of new code

This Monday Update might be uninteresting, but a lot has happened. I am also progressing faster then anticipated and the game will probably be released this year.

 Everything new:

  • I began to create several animations. Some for the backgrounds, some for other purposes.

Dev Log#4 | The UI

This weeks topic is the UI. Or User Interface for those who aren't familiar. A thing that took a very long time to built, as it is directly tied into all the games mechanics.

The Look:

The first thing that comes to mind when talking about a UI is obviously the look. Finding that took several days and a bunch of tests and tries in Photoshop. In the end I saw a general style in the Dishonored 2 UI that I liked and changed it up to fit the game.

The beginning of a new Game

tl;dr: I finished A Tale of Eden and will start developing a new game with improved code, graphics and everything else.

Developing A Tale of Eden was honestly a spur of the moment thing. I had talked about the idea with friends and then suddenly decided to actually do it.

Monday Update #16

Episode 04 is progressing nicely. Release will be within the next two weeks.

 Everything new:

  • 4 minor animated scenes are finished.
  • The first major animated scene is finished.
  • A large portion of the dialogue is done.

Monday Update #14

Episode 3 will release this week for all 5$ and above patrons.

 Everything new:

  • A lot of writing done.
  • Polished dialogues.
  • started work on a new scene.
  • Correcting misspellings and other errors.

I am in the end phase of episode 3, with barely any real content to be written. Most of my time now goes into polishing and refining what is already there.
