ProfitUI CE: Larger Player Window

One of the most iconic components of ProfitUI is the custom Player window with its Self > Target > Implied configuration. An alternate Player window is available on the ProfitUI CE server that is 50% larger than the standard window (see image above). There are no changes to how it works, but you may find the larger size to be more comfortable to use.

Thanks to Darq Side members Myxx and Krafoogoo for their help with testing and fe...

Known Quantities

Here's a handy new trick. We're all familiar with the "quantity" popup. It's that tiny window with tiny controls for specifying an exact amount or quantity of something. It appears in all sorts of places -- moving coin, splitting stacks of items, grabbing a few crafting supplies out of the depots, buying harvestables from a seller's stockpile on the broker. The list is long.

No matter the context, it's always an awkward transaction. This is one of those places where I wish for voice con...

Timed Channel Announcements

Not long ago we introduced the Timed Channel Announcement premium feature, which has been well-received except that players who use the feature tend to need more than one announcement. Instead of reconfiguring the one and only message for each situation, now you can pre-configure several different message tabs and choose from among them. Take a look!

Character Test

Update: This change is now live, so checking for updates will give you the newest version on Live servers as well as Test.

If you have characters on the Test server, there are some interesting changes to the Character window that you'll want to get. Using a copy of the utility located in \EverQuest II\TestServer\UI\, check for updates and choose "Test server" from the gear icon. Then hit the Update files button and you're all done!

Q: Why should you never buy Mother's Day flowers from a monk?
A: Because only you can prevent florist friars.

(With apologies to all our moms. Happy Mother's Day!)

The UI had a bunch of small but useful UI tweaks earlier this month, and you can see most of them in the April Feature Pack post. With so many excellent ideas for features on the boards, we've been continuously busy writ...

DarqUI 2K/4K: Group 30

Group 30? Yikes! How many windows are in this UI anyway? Here's another grab bag of components that you'll probably encounter along your journey. All of them are in the Extras package this time, so getting them will be a snap.

This enlargement includes player-made books, regular house item books (e.g. "A History of Antonica"), greeting cards and th...

Gear Buff Reuse Timers

Here's a handy new bit of data that should improve the efficiency of your Gear Buff Macros. Instead of wondering when you can recast a clicky buff contained in the macro, now you can configure a new timer bar right on the button that counts down the reuse time. No more guessing! Take a quick look at the video above for more info.

Big thanks to Darq Side member alakazzam for making the suggestion, and to Rosyposy and Viper for additional...

DarqUI v3.1.3.4

A new version of the DarqUI Unified Utility is available at eq2interface.com.

If you are unsure about how to install or upgrade DarqUI, look here.

Utility version 3.1.3.4 offers the following changes and improvements:

All About Maps

One improvement that members have been asking for since the beginning is larger maps for their higher resolution systems. I've been resistant to spreading the reach of DarqUI into the EQ2MAP realm, but now that we have a large chunk of the UI available in 2K and 4K sizes, it makes sense to see what can be done while keeping a light touch.

Today you have access to four mapping alternatives.

Loadouts Update

So far we've seen a gratifying response to the new Loadouts feature, and there are a couple of changes on the server today based upon member feedback that will smooth out certain things.

It's In the Bag

In-depth: Loadouts

Loadouts is a feature that you may find in other games, but nothing like this! The DarqUI version stitches together eight configuration steps like Gear Sets, AA specs, and up to 18 player-selected spells and buffs that are cast automatically to prepare your character for raiding, crafting, or any other activity. Take a look at the video and give it a try!

Overseer Mini-Update

Here's one of those tiny but useful improvements that make you wonder why we never added it before. Thanks to Darq Side member PiousVenom for requesting the XP percentage display, and for testing out a couple of different ways to skin the Kerra. For those of us who are still not at max Overseer level, now we can verify that the XP is not in fact going backwards. Click the thumbnail above to check it out.

And Then There Were Six

Recently a request was made to improve upon the usefulness and aesthetics of one of our popular custom components. Until now, the DarqUI Stat Monitor has been fitted with five stat tiles, and as long as the window displaying all five slots is arranged horizontally or vertically, there's no wasted space. But in any other layout there is always an inefficient gap at the end.

A Second Helping

You may remember that we had some browser drama back in December of 2021 when the development team kicked the aging Awesomium browser to the curb but didn't replace it with anything. The default help system suffered quite a bit during that time. When you tried to view help you'd get an awkward pop-up asking if it was okay to open the external browser, and then a separate external browser window wou...

Bag Sorting Presets

Ugh. I won't forget the first time I clicked that evil Bag Sort button years ago. I sat there dumbfounded and bug-eyed at the meticulously packed and alphabetized inventory that just moments prior had been my carefully constructed train wreck of bag contents. After recovering, I decided never to go near that button ever again.

Over time of course, player requests and simple curiosity led me to finally learn the arcane inner secrets of bag sorting, and I finally concluded that the featur...

The Way I (Over)See It

If you're still slogging through Overseer levels like me, that big green XP bar can seem like it's crawling slower and slower. One of my frustrations was tracking how many points each Overseer quest grants. Yes, you can infer that longer missions grant more points than shorter ones, and blue (Treasured) missions don't reward as much as Legendary, Fabled and Celestial tiers. But exactly how much XP are we talk...

The Desert of Ro has concealed many mysteries during this Age of Destiny. But one of the great unanswered questions is, "How can we make POI icons easier to see on the map?"

January Feature Pack

Wide Examine

No matter which UI size you prefer, the Examine window often has that annoying scrolling area where the effects on gear items and adornments are shown. Darq Sider Jrox recently asked in Discord if anything could be done to make this area easier to deal with, so we took another look at it.

See and Say

Text chat is a key aspect of MMOs, and EverQuest II is no exception. Here are two nice improvements to the premium DarqUI Chat window.

Bigger Is Better

You may have watched the Darq Side daily video that talks about setting a global chat font size in Options up to a limit of 20 pixels. It also gives pointers for setting larger font sizes on individual tabs. At first glance, chat text larger than 20 pixels may seem useful only for high resolutions. But even if you ...
