A thank you.

There is a 'hashtag' going around on social media that is aimed towards creators on Patreon thanking their patrons.  I indeed thought this was a good idea, but Twitter isn't a good medium to do this, both for both sanity or for posts longer than a small paragraph, so I thought I would make this more direct to those who stuck with me through the months and years, and those of you who are new, and to those who have moved on.

You helped a person with severe Impostor Syndrome and a deep dysmo...

Berb and Muu (Colour final)

Still in a bit of a grey space creatively and mentally, the winter 'whee' time has hit with its usual vengeance so I thought I'd spend some time getting paintings done of the dozens of images that I have in the 'ready to paint' stages.

I wanted to spend a bit of time in a happy space, and these two definitely fit the bill.  Chime gets free sunflower seed samples ever week.  The moo, it seems, is quite kind.

Ruins Explorer - Very rough sketch

I've been having a heck of a time finding the 'inspired drive' to get a digital sketch done for about a week now.  While I have been sketching quite a bit, much of it was to just try and keep my mind in a creative space and keep my hands in a practiced space.

While none of it is really worthy of posting and won't be finished, none of it was a waste of time.  An artist I admire once said that no amount of sketching, even sketching that doesn't work out, is a waste.  It all ...

On the Hearth's Night Eve (Spookenpumpkin)

I've finally managed to get the colours on this one done before our own 'Spookenpumpkin' eve.

As always, the full image is attached at the link at the bottom of this post.

May your hauntings be many and spooky (but not too spooky).

The Spooky Pumpkin Adopt (inks)

"Ayes Mr. Brindlecrank, all our pumpkins are grown with care.  A few took a couple hailstones to the head though.  It just means they need extra love."

I had to do at least ONE Halloween-esque picture this month, and this one features Cinders adopting out pumpkins to the various haunts and wraiths that sometimes cross the boundaries.  A spook night, but luckily they seem to be quite happy to adopt a pumpkin 'family'.

I'll be doing an 'ink-wash' style colour of this one. &n...

Heads up on another Patreon Change

Just wanted to keep people in the loop that there will be (another) change that Patreon is putting forth on November 7th allowing creators to post updates based on 'dollar amount' totals instead of tiers.

While I can see a use for such fine controls for some creators, this actually just makes a bit of work for me (and you!  more on that in a moment).  I'm always a bit twitchy when Patreon starts messing around with pay and tier structures, as some past decisions they've made backfire...

"Home."

"You ass!  I don't live here!"

"Not with that attitude.."

"How do I get home from here?"

"I dunno.  Not sure where you live."

"So I'm stuck here?"

"You shouldn't have fallen asleep in my saddlebag."

"Why didn't you wake me!?"

"You looked all cute, curled into a lil' bitty puffball.."

"Yer really finding this funny aren't you?"

"Of course!"

Culture Sheet (NSFW, mild nudity).

With this ongoing health issue I've been under for the last 20 days I've had a massive backlog of things to catch up on, including squaring away about a dozen sketches that I've had sitting around in various states of 'scribble'.  Its been a slow process but I didn't want to rush through trying to get things cleaned up as well as trying to figure out some of the various bits of story behind it all.

In this case, its a cultural sheet that I often do for some of the races of the world to tr...

Short update for the Octobering!

Hey all!

I just wanted note to a few folks who sent messages and commented over the past week that I haven't been hiding or purposely being silent.  I'm recovering from a tenacious bout of sinusitis/rhinitis which had absolutely wrecked my ability to concentrate and even sleep more than an hour or so at a time.  In fact it got so bad yesterday that I found out I was having waking 'microsleeps' due to lack of rest from 8 days of this.

However, I (think?) am starting to recover f...

Tiny Ponies Paid in Pumpkins

I hadn't planned on posting this very rough sketch given that its.. well, very rough.  It was done as another warm up that turned into something I quite liked.

And seeing as the other art I've been working on today was getting the flat colours down on the next painting I'm doing, which isn't always very exciting to look at, I figured that I could show off another image that ultimately will be inked and coloured as an illustration.

It didn't help that the snow that we've had for the ...

Keyboard Grazing (updates)

I don't like leaving things too quiet for too long, and realized that as I'm poking away at the couple of paintings (and a sketch) I'm working on for this month, I haven't actually made much noise here in a while!

First up, I want to apologize that I won't be able to get to do a patron sketch for this month.  The 'Dayjob' has seen some delays that means I need to scramble to do some cleanup work this month that was supposed to take place next month.  The fall gets a bit busy since th...

Short Update (September 13th)

Just a short update to let folks know that I've been having some problems with the internet provider I'm using currently, so if I don't answer any correspondence or comments on here it's nothing personal.  I've only had about 5 days of solid connection this month and I'm told that the area I'm in is having some kind of major problem and no signal is getting through their lines.

In the meantime I've been sketching.  I'll post in any window of connectivity I get until this is resolved....

"I am!  I'm a chirp yes, please, thank you!"

I do love the little interplay that Chime gets into with people.  She tends to be impossibly curious and a little blunt in how she'll introduce herself.  From meeting Torvael (the Haunish herbalist in the picture) to running into a field to investigate a pumpkin, something she's never seen before in her life, she's making the...

The Shut Places - Rough Sketchwork

I had this thumb-nailed for a little bit and thought that it was the perfect bit of 'spook' to start off the countdown over the next couple of months to Halloween.

I wanted to get a rough, loose sketch done as I'm gearing up to draw a patron sketch currently and I find undead really great to just get crazy with linework since they tend to be incredibly ragged, but can still tell a story.

I had an idea of the very far outskirts of Klincearn having lonely farmsteads that locked their doors...

Some Payment Info

Hey all!

Just wanted to give a heads up about an e-mail I received from Patreon this month about their switching to an international payment processor.

They've switched to a UK processor to ensure creators of more adult content are able to process payments (there was some kind of thing going on where US based banks were apparently getting up in arms about such things).

This said, I was informed that there might be a 3% international processing fee on payments depending on th...

Berben Muu - (sketch preview)

Another sketch I wanted to get down in some form.  Chime meeting the first Haunok she'd ever seen in her fairly sheltered life.

The shop is an herbalists and alchemists named 'Grazing Fields', named as a bit of an in-joke between Torvael, a large Haunish gardener and his mate, a Lorrnath from a little place called Aulenne in Orthiene, named Colbey Arcand.

The pair settled their shop in a town named Berncairn in the Aucebrian province, the location a perfect spot as many nearby rare ...

Horseshoes bring Luck! (NSFW, mild nudity)

When the fog of the art block lifted recently, largely in part of getting some sleep infused into my clockwork meat-frame, I started getting a lot of light-hearted images bouncing around in my head.

Much of them to do with Cinders (and her modern-day avatar Cindy).  I have about a dozen pictures I'd like to sketch out, including this one.  Its a bit more suggestive than most of the other images are, but she was proud of the dye-tattoo she got for her stallion, Bertrand (The 'B' is fo...

Always Pet Small Delivery Horses

After two weeks of intensely hot weather we were given some grace and the temperature has finally dipped into the 'hey, did you know autumn is coming?' range.

There are even the very beginnings of some very yellow leaves peeking through the trees (they turn fairly early in these parts).

So of course, that means its time to start rampaging through the backlog of things I had in mind to draw after the recent art block.  The first was Cinders giving a small delivery pony (actually part...

Cleaned up Flat colours

Hoping folks aren't sick of this picture.  I ended up really wanting to do this as an 'illustrative' image which will include linework.. The problem was that the linework I had was impossibly messy and sketchy, so I spent the week cleaning things up and re-colouring parts of the image in prep for doing some shading work and final passes.

Patreon doing a.. thing

Just a short note.

Its come to my attention that over the last week or so, Patreon switched their payment processors over to a UK based company.  This seemed to have flagged and triggered fraud protections for some folks who use their credit cards for patronage.

I'm a bit behind on what the story is, as I don't do much 'Twitter' these days, and am not on Facebook at all, and most of this was announced on those two platforms.  As is seemingly the normal procedure now, large chan...

Weather is Coming colour test

I've been going through a bit of a creative drought in the past few weeks, primarily due to a bout of 'dream based' insomnia that's ensured I only get about 4 hours or less of sleep each night.

I was wracking my head trying to come up with something to pain and admittedly pretty disheartened when I just couldn't think of a thing for days on end.

Then I realized I have a huge vault of images that I can actually paint and colour already done.  While I'm starting to recover, and hoping...

The Wax Annointed (rough sketch)

I've lost about just over a week of work due to a bout of insomnia driven creative block.  I just couldn't seem to pull myself to draw anything and found every idea to not be worth pursuing.

Luckily I've got at least one night of sleep under my belt finally, and while I need a solid week of sleep at least to catch up on the rest I've lost, even just one night of blissful rest meant I could start doing sketchwork again.
