Coffee Ramble 7 - Spooky Scary.

A short ramble this time.

I wanted folks on the commission list and the $10 tier list know that I won't be taking new work on for October.  Not for any dire reason, but I want to concentrate solely on doing 'spook month' art for October, and just get all of the ideas I can out of my cranium.

I'll still take on probably another commission for September.  I'm poised to finish the two I'm working on now this month, as well as get the next patron sketch finished as we...

Leaves visiting for Dinner

So it begins.

I know August isn't actually the start to fall, but it is the time of year here where about mid way through the month you start seeing more little bunches of yellow leaves sporadically dispersed amongst the trees.  The 'preview' to what is tome come.

The first picture of the 'fall stretch' goes to Pan.  I haven't said much about her over the years, but she's been around.  She gets her nickname from the pan-flutes she plays, and because her heart seems ...

Family Bonds

An inked version of one of the commissions I've taken on featuring a wolf family from a book series.  Kirvas, Reya, and their young daughter having a moment together in their village.

Strangely, I can hear the young girl's "Eee!  Gift!" when the necklace is held up.

As were hurtling into August I find myself getting a bit of 'idea paralysis'.  The problem is that I have about a thousand autumn ideas now dancing around in my head to draw, but can't figure out which I...

Mew - Flat colours

The flat colours of Sleet, doin' herself a cat, stretching and taking over the whole bed.

I wanted to finish and post this yesterday but had some delays waiting for a junk company to do a final big clear out of the big furniture here.  I'm glad to say that it's finally done, and I feel like I can finally just do more art stuff without background worry.

This will be painted, of course.  More things to come as the week goes on (How is it over half way to August already??)....

Coffee Ramble 6 - Mr. Deville

Recently I was talking with a couple people about 'the good ol' days' when we got together and played games.  Life sometimes winds into a spiral of just work and then crashing for a lot of us.  And as we age, we start taking care of relatives, or people in the family pass away, and time and energy get devoured by all of it.

I had mentioned that I missed running 'adventures' most of all.  It was one of the things that focused me on actually writing things, gave me an end-g...

Poni Sketches

A quick series of heavily 'chibified' Cinders (Among weird notes, ignore those).  I desperately needed something bright in my day, and these are fun to do.  Little slices of her life, from the fiendish unleashing of butterflies to quietly waiting for autumn to arrive.

Strangely enough, I've been noticing that some trees here are.. shedding a tiny amount of yellow leaves... It's highly strange for this to happen in the first part of July, which has me worried that many of these...

Coffee Ramble 4 - Spitting Distance.

I've had a bit of a rough time in the last month.  I won't go into details as it's just not what I want to post in what is supposed to be a creative blog (of sorts).  I'm getting better, but some days are definitely worse than others.

One of the more healthy things I'm doing to cope is drawing more of those odd little 'This Pony' series that I did a long while back featuring Cinders doing mundane things, or giving words of encouragement.  It forces me to break from some b...

Explore (revised)

I wanted to tweak some things with the last 'Explore' picture, as well as add some of what their gear would look like.

I decided to add an arch since it breaks up the image nicely and shows off a little of the claustrophobic sense of wandering around the turrets of ancient keeps and temples.  And I'd forgotten to give Ellythistle her staff as well.

Plus I had to add a stalking revenant wandering up the stairwell (I still might tweak that) because every old haunted place needs...

Explore - Sketch

The last rough sketch of the month.  I left this very rough before posting, showing the 'shoulder and hip' tubes that I usually use.  Drawing tubes instead of boxes for the entire form suits me better, as it let's me visualize twists in bodies and the like.

The pic is far from done.  The pair won't be in the buff in the final version, this was just roughing in where they would be standing and trying to get a sense of scale again.

I also used some 3D elements again. ...

Coffee Ramble 4 - Chronicle of Moss

Recently I was going through some folders I had on my old production box in preparation to wipe the drive out.  There wasn't a lot to back up since I tended to do that regularly anyway, but I came across a folder simply called 'Chronicle 2017'.

The folder held a metric ton of old notes for a D&D campaign (In fact, the last 'successful' D&D campaign I've ever run).  It also contained an abundance of sketches that I had illustrated for the game as well.  Everything ...

Coffee Ramble 3 - Witan

As with every summer now, and probably going forward, we're in the middle of a heat-wave.  Multiple days of 30C and up weather without any wind or rain (Though we finally had a storm this morning).  Lawns here are all dying, the trees are shedding leaves to conserve themselves, etc.

I've been able to keep working, though not in ideal conditions.  I picked up a portable tablet to use in the basement of the old Addam's Family house I live in, which would be ideal as it's no...

Mew (Sketch)

I've reached an age where I can actually go back to pictures I've done decades ago, and see where I was, and where I've come to.

Sleet wanted an update to her image that many years ago.  These day's she's a punk rocker but she still reads her trout adventures.

I'll be colouring this I think.

Sunset Romp - NSFW

I was kindly given permission to post this image.  It's one of the commissions I've been working on over the last while, and I tried to convey emotion as much as I could as well.  I get the sense she's coming home, or perhaps he is, and the pair missed each other immensely.

I'm starting to get into the swing of working on commissions again.  I'm finding, however, that with the next 'batch' I take on, I might have to up the price a bit.  This won't affect anyone on th...

Proper Pantsless - Final

I'm going to be breaking my rule of 'Taking a day off every week' in the upcoming month.  I need to get work done.  I might compromise by only working half-days on art instead of the 6 - 10 hours I have been lately, but I need to start completing commission work, as well as paintworks for Patreon as well.

So far it's not too bad.  I'm generally able to get something done quickly.  This was done over the weekend, and finished this morning before I moved onto th...

I'm not sure who she is, but it was another one of those 'get the image down on canvas before it disappears into the bituminous screaming-numbers-in-a-coal-mine void that is my brain' images.

I think I spent more time cleaning up the lines on the hands than I did drawing the entire image.  Drawing hands sucks.  Well, at least for me, but good lord I just couldn't get the hands to look like they weren't' some nightmare-fueled AI garbage output.  (Though at least I could ge...

Song of Stones - Pages 2 and 3 roughs

Hey all, I've been trying to catch up again.  I managed to get the second and third pages of the comic into 'stage 2' pencils.  This is the first pass cleaning up the scribbled bluelines and cleaning up/tweaking everything until I can go over it again in stage three.

I've had a problem crop up over the last ten days or so regarding the pen to my tablet.  It's starting to fail, and it's proven incredibly difficult to get a replacement for it.  I've been working on fig...

I guess my luck had to run out eventually.

I'm sick.  On top of some other health issues I've been having I'm officially sick.  Sick-sick.

I don't know what it's going to turn out to be.  Right now it's just the stuffed head and scratchy throat phase with a slight headache, so I don't know if this thing is going to progress any more.  I hate that I have to also worry that this could be COVID.  I don't have any way to test if it is, so I'll have to s...

The Quiet Respite (Commissioned, NSFW)

A commissioned piece for a painting this time around.  I was asked to paint an older image I had done as a sketch years back and it proved to be a surprising challenge since I only had the flat lineart layer (I usually keep the multi-layer format as a separate file).  But this was enjoyable.  Painting a largely white wolf against a background of an evening in by the hearth is a bit of a bias of mine.  I like 'cozy' pictures of it's kind.

This also hits on the 'more a...

Coffee Ramble 2 - Coffee Nerd, and a Trello!

Fun busy times this last few weeks.  Estates require a lot of running between various institutions, all of which whom have their hand out for something, and few of which want to give benefits out (Looking at you, Federal Government).

The up-side is that this is the last time I'll ever have to do this.  Other than family in Eastern Canada, and two aunts, I'm basically on my own now (and yes, it's lonely.  I'll probably end up chasing butterflies with a rake.)  As the ...

"Those Frigid forgotten lands held our brothers and sisters.  Our kin lay there in peace for decades, only to be ripped from beneath the stones by that madness wreathed diabolist.

He dragged the energies of sorcery screaming from the mother's blood and used it to make foul all that we held as sacred.  The low-houses and dens of the south withered under his tenebrous and unending gaze.

Our oaths and creed bade us to stride into his rotten domain and pick apart the ...
