Graboid on Bikini Beach

Zdenko SLAM DUNKED this month's pinup with the Graboid!

He'll be handling some of the full comics this Summer as well.

Red Riding Hood - Costume Design

Red Riding Hood is getting a new look for her debut in Secret Stash Comics' new series "After Dark Fairy Tales." This premier issue features the macabre retelling of Little Red Riding Hood (who isn't so little anymore) and the big bad wolf that devours her.

This 5 page issue is being illustrated by DarkHorse, whose horror-inspired style is perfectly suited to the atmo...

April Pinup Poll

Pick your favorite!

Whichever scene wins, I'll pair it with an artist the seems best suited to the subject.

Voting ends Wednesday at midnight, EST.

One quick note - I normally can't include all the suggestions for a pinup but since there were only 6, and all of them could be good scenes, I was able to this time. :)

April Suggestion Box

Okay folks, let's hear your ideas for pinups! For this month I'm only going to be releasing a single pinup, since there are two comics in production, and it'll be a patreon exclusive.

The best suggestions will be added into the pinup voting poll, which will open on Monday.

Complete scene concepts, with a strong narrative idea and a suggestion for both a predator and prey, will have a better chance of getting picked.

Cretaceous Seas - Jungle Dangers #1

Here's the drive folder with the entire comic in it, including as a pdf. I'm going to be reorganizing how I distribute the comics and this might be the method, since the setup on patreon isn't really thrilling me.

Cretaceous Seas - Jungle Dangers, Page 6

PHEW! There's page 6 all wrapped up and finished, thus ending Ayla's encounter with that hungry t-rex. Not much else to say other than I hope you guys enjoyed this one. That'll be the last comic I handle personally for a while, to keep my focus exclusively on the Cretaceous Seas game development.

April comics poll winner and a fun surprise

The winner for the poll is...
Ayla and the giant toad!

But here's the fun surprise. Lots of people are stuck inside right now, and the whole world is being impacted by the effects of the pandemic. I want to do something special to improve the quarantine situation, even if only by some small degree, so I'm going to be publishing BOTH of the top choice comics.

Releasing both isn't something I had planned on, and it'll be a one time thing until the membership n...

April Comic Poll (and a mini-rant).

Now that I'm working full-time on the Cretaceous Seas game, I've assembled a small team of talented artists to handle the comics production. I've been sticking to a 4-6 page story format but would like to start expanding up to 9-12 page shorts. Ultimately, I REALLY want to start publishing an on-going comic series, and the idea polled well over on DeviantArt. That concept requires a totally different format, though, with a heavier focus on adventure and adult encounters than vore...

I decided to stretch the ending out a little and make the t-rex scene 6 pages instead of 5. I'd like to start publishing 10 page comics soon but the expense of time still makes that prohibitive. Anyhow, enjoy!

Ayla Motion Test (rough pencils)

Ayla's animations for the game fall into two main categories; player controls & enemy interactions. I want both to feel energetic and clean but with player controls it's also important to consider playability. Ayla need to be able to snap into a jump from any point in her idle, or quickly break into a run, etc. An easy way to do that is to forego animating transitions between different states, which risks sacrificing smoothness and could make some changes feel jarring o...

What kind of comics do you want to see Secret Stash publishing? Pick your favorite option.

For the next few months my focus is going to be entirely on game development and animation. And yes, all the preview stuff is going to pop up here because I want to keep everyone involved in this amazing process. :) For the last week I've kind of tucked in hard with the actual animation process, not thinking about updates or anything, but I'm working to find a good balance.

For the comics side of things, I've hired on some talented artists to handle them. With the chance to essentially...

Ninja-saurus sex? Stealth-asaurus rex?

She should have kept running. :-P

After the next page is finished I'm going to be turning my attention fully over to the Cretaceous Seas game development, with updates on that will feature behind the scenes look into the process. A lot is also going to be going out to the public, so I have something else in mind to keep this patreon active and interesting.  I've been in talks with some other comic artists and will be bringing back mo...

Over 75% Funded!

The funding for the game is nearly there!  The time spent putting together the animatons and promo stuff has been making it really challenging working on the comic pages for Ayla's t-rex scene. More than half of the next page is finished so I'm going to try and *squeeze* it in this week.

Starting on Ayla's Idle Animation

The main idle animation is one of the key parts of Ayla's motions I'm going to need. Today I launched down that path and got it started. Nice strong pose, decently interesting overall, boobs, all the right parts to begin... and then a splash of motion!

It's far from done, but I wanted to get something up tonight to at least showcase some progress. Details like the hands, hair, and slight sway in the breasts haven't been animated yet. I kind of work from the spine out.

Beware of Space Worms

I wanted to do something a little random today and revisit some inks from last year I never published. Thought it'd be fun to play with some blues and oranges for a change. Also, a design something along these lines could get changed just a little and pulled into the Cretaceous Seas Game. Maybe something in this direction for the next carnivorous plant design?

More animation work going towards feeding this big ol' snake.

Happy snek!

Animation work is slow, so this took more time than people might guess, and it's still not finished. The kickstarter campaign for the game is rolling along nicely and this clip will hopefully give it a real boost.

Rough Draft for Snake Vore Attack Animation

So right upfront, I have to emphasize this is a SUPER rough draft of the first snake vore scene. At this stage it's primarily just a motion sketch to help me get the timing and staging right. I'll keep tweaking this animation and adding more of the extremes (key and secondary poses) until I feel like the motion is where I want it.  Then I'll start doing the real drawings over it. Once those are decently clean and nice I'll ink over the whole thing to make it crisp and nice.

Kickstarter for the Cretaceous Seas GAME!

It's official, kickstarter approved the game! It's going to be fully animated, in 2d and packed with vore scenes. Pretty sure you guys are going to love it. :)

The campaign for funding is going live on January 18th and will have 30 days to raise funds for production. Fingers crossed!

Regarding patreon, the artwork and animations being shared with backers on kickstarter are also going to be posted on here as well. After the campaign ends, patreon rewards are likely to shift away ...

Ayla, Character Turn, Step 2.5

Quick little in-between progress step here on Ayla's turn animation, but not quite to step 3 entirely. Cleaning up the lines and getting everything feeling smooth takes a good deal of time. To make sure those efforts were going stay on target I decided to start by cleaning up the initial key frames first. Those 8 frames will lock in the shapes so that I don't wander at all as I start inking the rest. These frames seen here will have an additional 3 frames between each, like in step 2. I dropp...

Start Screen Concept Art

So concept art is a whole other thing than I'm not used to doing, frankly, but I gave it my best shot with how I visualize the start screen for Cretaceous Seas.  I wanted to use this rough animation sketch for showcasing the overall mood I'd want to capture on this screen more than trying to reach the final perfected animation. Guess it's sort of a color animatic. Final details like the motion of the tree branches, clouds, ocean surface, and the plants would be animated in the final scre...

Ayla, Character Turn, Step 2

Step 2: I used the initial blocking from step 1 to better define the key poses. Once some basic forms were defined I began adding the in-between frames, bring us up to a total of 64 drawings to complete the turn. That is more frames than originally planned but I found the turning speed needed to be reduced.

Everything at this stage is still very rough and loose, especially the finer details. In the next step I'll be cleaning up the line work to further sculpt the details and s...

Ayla, character turn, step 1

To get a better sense of how I'm going to be animating Ayla for my upcoming hand-drawn video game I decided to animate her character turn around. It's sort of like having a model sheet brought to life, and good practice at the same time. Seeing the character fleshed out in a 360 degree turn gives me a better sense of her mass and forms. It's also just a cool way to help visual her as I start creating more of the necessary sprites and promo art.

"Behind the scenes" shots are so...

Scooter Animation Test

Before going deeper down the rabbit hole of traditional animation I wanted to make sure I had the concepts down well enough to actually put a little scene together. Well... I got sort of mixed results. I did animate a little scene, yes, but putting it together taught me that I'm still pretty far away from where I want to be. And that's ok! The process taught me a mix of what TO do and what NOT to do. Part way through I almost scrapped it and started over but I need to keep moving forward. Sti...

Value study by way of Paris

Yesterday I started working up a little sketch to use for animation practice.  The goal was to make it a simple but refined character study with a parallaxing background in the span of two days, probably just the finished pencils. Well... It's the end of day two and I have my character, the backgrounds, and I decided I needed a decent values layout. What's missing? That whole animation part! I estimate it'll take another full day of work to rough in the animation, and I might leave the c...

Animation Practice Turn

For a bit of 2D animation practice I decided to try a simple character take. FAR from clean or perfect but it was a fun exercise. This animation was going to be fully fleshed out and colored test but I've already spent enough time on it today that I need to call it done enough. Kind of turned into more of an animatic test, but it was still helpful. Also, the software I used for this was Krita. it's good for being free but I don't want to use Krita again. It's free for a reason. I used it...
