I thought I'd finished this yesterday and then fell down a rabbit hole of trying to 'bump the background values up into a darker look, in order to give the characters more pop' only to change my mind today and just keep the originals as is. It's bright and cheery, and if I keep Owen's place a little bit bluer and darker later - a nice contrast!

Here we go! Progresssssss. Yesterday I put on a bunch of star trek (strange new worlds is rad and deserves your watch), followed by Dune, and just cranked the last of the inks and then flats.
Feeling happy to get it done, but also... frustrated a bit too? Looking back a bit at the Thumbs and even Pencils, I feel like I might have lost a little bit of the zaz in my attempt. Or the direction shifted as I went.

HELLA SPOILERS AHEAD
Here is the Draft 2 script for the current chapter.
I keep tinkering here and there. Diving in and changing a line or two is just a pleasure, so I often just find myself editing back and forth. As ever nothing is set in stone - BUT the general gist of it after the last draft;
Past 10 days have been a BLUR, and this is all I've been able to work on for the page! Just, the safe-for-work stuff I can do while people are around and demanding so much of my time. Stuff that's ok for others to see.

I ended up redesigning the page a bit, as I wasn't connecting to the OG sketch as much as the 1st time around. Decided to arch Nick's back a bit, have him handle his own junk exploratively, and really give Judy a kiss-the-cock moment that feels like it brings in some needed intimacy and spice. She's excited, and I want it to feel rich and thick with cage tension.

EDIT - Reworked the cage to be more obvious and tight, after some useful pushback!! It's now black, I'll try a steel/treatment on it later, but the black is a nice way to make it POP. And the bars are now thicker, and the head is more obvious. It's still a cage that incorporates the sheath to its advantage - but that's just something that makes more sense in my mind for a world with canines in it! Alright! I included the original 'rough' for this page, as it's since changed a bit! I had an artist friend suggest I give Nick a bit more room to breathe and open up the scene (and his legs) as this was our big cage reveal. I sort of compromised, opened it up a bit, AND kept Judy close in, nice and tight, as I love the intimacy and symbolism of Judy being right there, close enough to kiss it. Like... it's something they are doing together, rather than for US.

On the left - solid INKS.
On the right - cleaned up pencils.

Short update - with the pencils for the final QnA Page.
Been dragging a bit on this one, as I'm prepping for the next chapter, by working on the script. I'm thinking I might layout piecemeal, this time, a few pages at a time sort of thing. Maybe stick to the penciled look but aim for everything being slightly tighter and cleaner, with a bit more in the colors? I could fiddle with my pencil setting...

I've been so nervous to share this with you all, as every day I keep going back to it and changing small lines here and there. 95% feels right as a lot of the ideas feel solidified in my head, and now it's mostly the small bits, or trim that feel left to do.
