Lakeside

"After the final crates were lifted onto the hickory dock, the travelling merchant addressed the ferryman one last time before he departed. As a seasoned professional, she knew the tricks to squeeze the most out of a caravan run. At this point though, after hours of painful, unrelenting conversation, she was weighing if it was worth finding the best deal if it meant more chatter with him.

"I thank you for your services, but before we bid each other farewell, perchance you ...

Inside the Ziggurat

""The descent was one nearly fully comprised of autonomous, thoughtless movements. Little was left of memory, purpose, or motive. Fleeting glances of the rooms at each level barely caught their attention. Nor did they notice their rapidly atrophying bodies, dried and scaling skin, and diminishing mentation.

There was, however, an acceptance. A peace of mind, a resolution to their fate. They could feel the life being slowly siphoned from their bodies, their minds fading. Th...

Ancient Dungeon - Ziggurat

"Each step up the staircase was even more laborious than the last. No one had prevented our entrance to the Ziggurat, yet it seemed our own mortal bodies and our growing exertion were the real obstacle. An obstacle we would never have foreseen.

The trip to the mountain had drained us of our brightness, our hope, and our ambition. Once inside, it seemed we were ever so slowly losing our strength as we navigated through the passageways leading to the ziggurat. Now within sight...

Ancient Dungeon Level 02

"Now well within the mountain's womb, the caverns gave way to the cut stone walls of a temple of sorts. For the first time in much of our travels we found ourselves not alone, yet somehow alone all the same.

The corridors gave way on each side to alcoves and small chambers, some containing effigies, even a statue of a great horned deity. The chambers and halls were far from uninhabited.

Our first run ins with the cloaked, masked inhabitants was startling, then peculiar...

Ancient Dungeon Entrance

As we approached, the tips of the Jagged Rise could be seen over the surrounding forest canopy. Its menacing silhouette could be made out as the trees parted their branches, providing glimpses of the serrated mountaintop in sharp contrast to the peaceful flora that currently surrounded the party.

Deceiving was the tranquil terrain that surrounded the peaks. Despite the relative serenity that the surrounding lands expressed, the Jagged Rise's threatening demeanor warded away ...

Inside the Dig Site

"It wasn't until we unearthed the inner chambers that we understood what we had truly found. As we broke ground on the entrance, we realized that this was not a place of worship as we had been told. Laborers such as myself were assured of our safety, yet here we stood before a dormant power that we could not fathom.

As we entered the threshold, the glyphs came to life, as if responding to our presence. Thunder roared from within the tomb, and an energy permeated the very a...

"The moment she had been waiting for had finally arrived. Two weeks had transpired since the excavation began, and Tastren watched as the laborers in the pit brushed away the debris revealing the first point of the Eight Pointed Star. She recognized the unique geometry at a moment's notice. The faded marble and stone patterns could still be barely made out by the trained eye.

"It's really here," she gasped, "It's real!"

"I'm going to come out smelling like a florist!" Xershi spat through her teeth. "This isn't dignified for a warrior of my caliber, this is for those pampered nobles that have never been within earshot of a battle!"

"Nonsense," argued Laird. "It's juniper and fir. Extracts have medicinal properties, you know. Just because you've never tried d...

The actors had taken the stage for the final act. As captivating as their performance was, it was nowhere near as enthralling as the drama playing out amongst the senators in attendance and the newly-elected Archon.

It was a bold performance. Such comical and direct criticisms of statehood under a new, untested leader could lead to the demise of even the most renowned performer. Such a statement was unheard of, and for good r...

"One of the better attractions of the city, the Square was said to have been where Davinocles brought the children of Demeter to trade their blessings for his service. As the legend goes, when his people founded Mesistopeles, they pledged an unyielding loyalty to all that grows.

Even still to this day, the myths and legends that surround the site where the city square now stands are evident. Trade booms, the trees and vines that encompass the city grow...

The Midwinter Podunk - Interior

Hey all,

Final map of yet another year of making them ... I think I'm coming up to 5 years of doing this now? Crazy. As always thank you so much for your support - it really is amazing.

To round off this month I have this three level interior to the Winter Lodge, it's got a lot of entrances and exits - should be great for some sneaking, light breaking and entering and who knows perhaps murder depending on what your players fancy.

"Not far from the densely populated regions of civilization, a small hamlet rests upon a sleepy mountaintop, nestled comfortably on a small plateau overlooking the neighboring valley. This hamlet, not inaccessible, nor concealed, is seldom visited.  While not immediately evident, something incredible exists here. Something sought after by many but found by a lucky few.
Peace. Tranquility. An oasis of calmness in an otherwise busy land. One might call...

"Out of all the prisoners that live out their sentence on that wretched island, there remains one who deserves it the least. Political persecution might be the easiest explanation, but in reality, it was opposition to nobility, and a rallying of a cause, that placed our lady in her perpetual state of imprisonment. Such a place is meant to keep one from the eyes of the world, secluded, forgotten, left to rot.
Treason, it was not. Nor an uprising. It was a...
