About my silence... Is anyone here?

Guys, earlier this month I was testing out a few different Mega Drive technologies for future games and working on optimizations to make my games faster and more responsive, which includes Final Fight MD.

However, 10 days ago my son's PC broke and he was completely desperate, as he is a guy who only has friends online and doesn't leave the house. Me as a father, I couldn't just watch and do nothing, so I just took my HDs and gave my PC to him, doing my best to make sure he was okay.

Changelog FFMD 2023-01-03

I'm working every day with the beta testers to find and fix any bugs, especially those related to gameplay. This week I intend to focus on fixing the serious bugs, including the main focus: getting rid of slowdowns.

For now I publish the changelog below so you know how the internal versions are evolving.

FFMD 2023-01-01 WIP ROM - bug hunt

Well, I ran against the clock programming as much as I could to fix some bugs focused on making the experience better, but I ended up not making the latest version of the ROM available for the team to test in advance because it was a festive day, and with that some annoying bugs passed .

You will receive the early access demo tomorrow.

3 players test... In the campaign mode?

This was just a short test, almost a joke to understand limits, but I was surprised because even with some flickering, the console did relatively well! The HUD was broken because the game didn't expect that, but that's ok because even I didn't expect the campaign to run with 3p.

Round 2-3 coming up... And rolling drumcans too!

I know, I know, it's not like the arcade, but I'm mesmerized when new stages are being created. This round was converted by Master Linkuei, based on the proportions of the SEGA CD with arcade tiles.

PS.: Some parts are not aligned in the same position as they are full 8x8 arcade tiles without aspect ratio adjustment.

Five enemies are so mixed, it turns the game into a (good) complete chaos

5 enemies will already be a reality almost at all times, six enemies only in specific parts. However, even with 5 enemies, it was difficult to take a screenshot as they chase you insistently. I will change the algorithm it so that they respect the space a little so they don't all get mixed up.

Now testing 6 enemies at the same time. Thanks to the stability of SGDK 1.80 it is now possible to check the VRAM space and allocate sprites according to demand.

Five enemies, even with two players!

With some adjustments, it is now possible to display up to 5 enemies on the screen even in 2 player mode. In some places, speed can be compromised, but I'm doing my best to address that too.

Current status - Mega Final Fight

The opening of the new story for the Mega Drive mode is complete and just a few tweaks are left to finish the last extra character.

I was supposed to start developing round 2 but I had problems again due to memory mapping.

ARCADE (NORMAL, DASH and TURBO):

As close to the arcade experience as possible, but with the option to speed up gameplay.
