Our Anniversary!

Okay, I know that most couples don't have two anniversaries but we do! We celebrate our wedding anniversary and we also celebrate the day we met! Today is the date that we met :)

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I (Brittany) am not the type of women that remembers things like anniversaries at all...for the most part Jeremiah is the one to remember important dates, years, etc. 

Today wasn't any different, about halfway through the day I noticed that he was wearing cologne....

We wanted to let you know that we'll be attending the Southern California Boat Show that is taking place from September 28th through the 1st of October. If you're able to attend and would like to meet up just let us know!

S/V Lazy Gecko Update

Thank you for being so concerned and for all the wonderful messages we've received. We're truly touched from the outpouring of support from you! 

We're knee deep in watching the television and praying for the best in regard to all the people in Florida that are in the path or were in the path of hurricane Irma. We have family in Florida, most of them did evacuate...After my constant harassing lol...They are safe but so many are in the storms path. Lets all hope they remain safe. 

Hurricane Irma Update!

Hello Patrons!

We pray that none of you are in the path of the Hurricane Irma. If you are, please, please stay safe! Two of our Patrons were actually stranded in Puerto Rico, they had to endure the storm as it passed. They've made it through safely, thank goodness!

The Lazy Gecko is on the hard in Key West, she's located on the southeast part of the island. The most recent forecasted track takes the eye of the hurricane very close, if not directly over Key West. The boat is right between...

Here we go...Again!

The bottom of our lady is now painted, we decided on red! We've left her up on the hard and in the hands of some really nice people that will take good care of her while we are gone. She is currently sitting in the Florida Keys. The problem...A Cat 5 Hurricane that's headed her way (so far)...The plan was to leave her there while we travel to view some potential new boats. The plan is going well...but we're in the mindset that we might lose the Gecko. We can't go back, and wouldn't at this point...

59. Playing hookie, Skydiving & Buying WEED??

That's right! The latest episode is up for your viewing pleasure!! 

You get all sorts of fun in this one. We start off at anchor, tell you about our worst night on the boat yet before taking you for a trip across the country! Skydiving? Even buying weed?! Ok, not for us to smoke (we're non-smokers)...But we do buy it! Yep, it's all here!

Life on the hard!

Wow, what a difference! No one said it was going to be easy and yes it is rather hard! As of now we are in the works of completing the bottom painting. We're torn between staying with the red color or switching to blue. You wouldn't believe how expensive paint can be though! It is somewhere between $100.00 - $250.00 per gallon at this marina and our girl needs about 4 gallons. They don't allow paint to be brought in from outside unless you pay them about $60 per gallons to do so...Crappy right?!...

We finally did it ❤️

It was quite the day yesterday but the Lazy Gecko is finally on the hard. We found another boat yard that is much safer and very well kept but of course that includes a big price increase. You know what they say though, safety comes first! The peace of mind will be worth the cost. I must say that we had a wonderful experience during the entire process. We're now in the works of finding someone to watch over her while we search for our new floating home. Even though boats aren't 'really' alive we...

What a turn around!

We spent the day (10 hours) cleaning our lady Gecko! She is sparkling like you wouldn't believe!! However, Jeremiah and I are pooped...Thankfully we took showers minutes before they locked the doors here at the marina. So a little update - We were supposed to haul out tomorrow but a friend of ours told us about some theft, drug and fighting issues that currently goes on in the boat yard we planned on using. Now we are at a major halt! We hope that we can get in touch with another boat yard here ...

Big Day Today!!

As you know we're getting our girl ready to sell. That process involves some serious work! Today was spent going through the entire boat and separating what goes with her and what will come with us when we part ways. Our next step will be deep cleaning her until she sparkles. Then the Gecko will be going up on the hard to get some work done. Hopefully we can get her out of the water within the next couple days so we can begin the little bit of TLC that she needs. Here we go!

So she is up for sale! Officially!!! We're on the boat now, moving our belongings off in the lovely Key West heat. It's refreshing!! ;)

We've already begun looking at some boats. We're leaning towards a certain type but definitely haven't found "the one" yet. You'll be the first to know!

The cool thing is that what we're packing goes right into the next boat...So there's very little organizing compared to when we moved onto the Gecko. It's sad to be taking things out of our home...We did...

Big Announcements!

Happy Saturday everyone! We hope you're having a wonderful day...Today we're in the middle of planning and taking care of a few items for some big moves coming our way. 

First, you guys and gals have been so amazing to us! We get messages each day from Patrons telling wonderful stories and sharing beautiful dreams...It's truly amazing how this little sailing adventure has provided us with such wonderful friendships. You all are amazing and we truly appreciate you.

Key West in family fashion!

We've been incredibly busy with all 3 little Geckos. Jessica and Trevor arrived at the beginning of summer and I think it is safe to say we've done a great job of showing them Key West! 

The first couple days were spent showing them the island by using a rental car we had reserved to pick them up from the airport. Then we took them snorkeling at a beach we have here at a marina. We were hoping to find a conch shell but didn't have much luck.

A sinking boat

Before I begin my little update I thought I’d share this little story with you! The other day we popped up out of the companion way and were sad to see this! This beautiful boat was under water just a few slips away from us. What happened?!

We’ve had some pretty rough storms in Key West lately so we're thinking that maybe one of the thru-hulls or hoses busted open allowing water to come into the boat. Who really knows though. The catamaran next to the boat was lucky enough to not receive a...

Memorial Day Weekend!

We couldn't get the boat into a downtown Key West slip due to little availability...Plus the crazy cost! So we decided to leave the boat at NAS Boca Chica and rent ourselves a nice little room for 3 nights. We also had a nanny come in from care.com to watch Rhys so we could get some adult time. We've already had her come to the boat twice, she's great. It's nice when you find someone decent that you trust to watch your child but as always we had our baby cam running!!

It was fun to have a coup...

Here's the latest! We visit Looe Key Reef (Thank you for the suggestion Randy, who is one of you!) where Jeremiah gets chased out of the water by a Black Tip Shark. We do some amazing snorkeling and I take you paddle boarding on NAS Boca Chica where I find an awesome Conch. This is a really fun episode and we hope you enjoy it!
