No charge for this post, as it is not a story chapter. I would like to thank my Patron Matthew Sullivan for sending me a link to this awesome YouTube video of a flight in the Piaggio Avanti 180. If you're interested in the plane that Jake flies in the story, you'll enjoy this video as it shows a flight from San Jose to Orange County in the aircraft, which is the same neck of the woods where Jake usually flies it. The plane in the video is a newer version of Jake's with a different cabin layout, but the same basic aircraft. Here is the link: Flying the Piaggio P180 Avanti! (Worlds Fastest Turboprop!) - YouTube

No charge for this post as it is not a chapter. I need a little help from my Patrons on a research point. I'm really good at finding the information I need, but for some reason I just cannot seem to ferret out this one number. I need to know how many commercial airliners were forced to land at alternate destinations when US airspace was shut down on 9/11. If you don't mind providing a link to where you find the information, I would greatly appreciate it.

And here is the new chapter. I have probably done more research on this chapter than any other that I have ever composed. I have done my best to keep the timeline accurate and any mistakes I might have had, I apologize for in advance as this chapter portrays one of the most significant events n American history, one that I personally lived through. Just to throw it out here, I present the story of 9-11 as it is presented in history. I will absolutely NOT engage in any discussion about conspiracy theories about the events, so please don't bother sending them to me.

And we move closer to a pivotal point in the story and in the history of our planet. Let me know how I did, like always. I kind of like the way I planned this part out and presented it. Am I right?

Another pivotal chapter in the tale as things start heading for a particular moment in time. The Kingsleys and their lover lay out their plans to their loved ones and those who need to know. As always, keep the feedback coming. It helps the story along.

Okay, I managed to finish this one up tonight now that I've gotten a good night/morning's sleep. This one is a pivotal chapter in the tale, leading us down a new road. As always, let me know what you think and I always love those suggestions, though I may not use them.

Sorry, everyone. I had really hoped to get Chapter 14 out before midnight on August 1, but I failed. I have about 8 pages left to write in it, but I had to work on Sunday night into Monday morning until 4:00 AM and then take my six-hour biennial Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification class at 9:00 AM Monday morning (the 31st). I asked my supervisor if she could cut me loose around midnight so I could get some sleep before the class and she said, with sincerity, she would if she could. Well... she couldn't. The ER is the ER and it got busy and I actually did not get off until around 5:00 AM instead of cutting out early. I was a zombie through the class but I've taken it every two years since 1993 so it was not a big deal to phone it in (100 percent on the test at the end). But... I was pretty wasted by the time I got home and wasted does not make for good prose. Hopefully, I'll have 14out by today or tonight (west coast USA time). If not, I'll certainly (barring any catastrophic shit) have it out by Wednesday. Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still hanging in here.

Sorry it took so long to get this one out. June was a busy month for me and this is setting up a pivotal chapter in the tale. I had a 32 hour trauma nursing course I had to attend and I had multiple overtimes shifts because of staffing issues, leaving me not as much time to write. But here we are at last and July seems to be mostly clear of other obligations. As always, let me know what you think. Things are heading in a certain direction here.

Moving the story right along into the next phase. As always, keep the feedback coming as it helps shape the plot and characters. I think a lot of you will enjoy the twists and turns set up here.

Still in the groove here. A transitional chapter, moving things down the road to the next set of things that will happen to our friends. Unlike last chapter, this one takes place over a few months. As always, let me hear your feedback. Another Patron suggestion found its way into this one.

My thanks to my patron Wulf Losee for giving me the idea for the opening of this chapter. Another example of how reader feedback is appreciated and sometimes helps move the story along in ways it would not have done by me operating alone. I don't think I would have thought of this on my own. Anyway, this chapter takes place over a single day, is a bit more lighthearted overall, but I think it advances the plot considerably for future chapters. As always, let me know how I'm doing. It has lots of my two favorite characters to write dialogue for in it.

Definitely back into productivity here. The latest chapter is now here. A check in with the nieces from Pocatello and some straightforward talk about Celia's relationship. Let me know what you think. We're moving right along.

I seem to be back in rhythm again and producing at my normal pace. Here is the next chapter in which we get a look at how the Intemperance reunion is going and how Celia's relationship with Ron the pilot is developing. As always, let me hear your thoughts. I'm confident I'll be able to squeak out one more chapter before the end of the month.

Sorry it took a while to get this one out, but it's kind of a pivotal chapter and I wanted to get it right. As always, let me know how I'm doing, your feedback helps drive the story, and remember that conflict is necessary in any tale.

Jake goes under the knife again and it's touch and go for a bit. There is SOME good news to report, however. Let me know how I'm doing. My plan is to get the next chapter out before the end of the month. Can't promise though.

Things have mellowed out in the Steiner household (for now anyway) and I've been able to kick into a higher gear and write the next chapter on my days off. Things take a turn here on several levels. Let me know how I'm doing. The feedback keeps me rolling along.

Sorry my production has been down of late. Lots of things going on in real life. I think we're starting to return to some semblance of normalcy now, however. In any case, here is the next chapter, and one that's a bit pivotal for early in the book. As always, I love to hear your thoughts on it. Please don't hesitate to send me a message.

Sorry it took so long, everyone, but it's been a rough month here in my part of the world. I have a partially collapsed patio cover that could come the rest of the way down at any time. And the refrigerator where my beer is kept is out under that patio cover. Anyway, I finally managed to finish the next chapter and move the story forward. I think I came up with a pretty good one. As always, let me know how I'm doing as your feedback helps drive the course of the story in innumerable ways.

No charge for this post since it is not a story chapter but an update. I just want to let everyone know that I'm running behind on posting the next chapter due to acts of God primarily. The Sacramento Valley, where I live, and the Sierra Nevada foothills, where I work, are getting the shit beat out of them by storm after storm. Atmospheric rivers, they call them, and they are bringing a buttload of rain to a region that is not set up to deal with it on this level. Work has been insane and at home, though we have suffered no actual damage as of yet, we have had to scramble to keep ahead of flooding on several occasions. We have had to go out and clear drainage inlets in the pouring rain, have had to put up some sandbags, and have had to pump some water on more than one occasion. All of this is making it a little difficult to concentrate on writing chapter three so I'm only about eight pages in currently and starting my work rotation tomorrow. Keep the faith though. It looks like this storm pattern is coming to an end by the time my work rotation wraps up and I'll be able to get back to work at my normal pace (hopefully).

And so I begin the seventh and likely final book in the Intemperance primary series. Chapter one begins immediately after the events that ended Book VI. I present it as a realistic portrayal of how such a scene would occur under the circumstances. As always, let me know how I'm doing. Your feedback is invaluable to me and in many cases has helped shape the tale.

And here is the final chapter of Book VI of the tale. There is a twist at the end so I would suggest that no one read the comments prior to reading the chapter. I think I've wrapped up most of the loose ends that were dangling, although I did unravel some significant new loose ends to dangle about. Thank you all for supporting me through my fourth complete novel on Patreon, and, as soon as I do the edit and publication of Book VI, I will roll right into the opening chapter of Book VII, which I really do believe to be the final book in the main tale. As always, let me know what you think.

No charge for this post as it is not a chapter. Sorry it has been so long since the last chapter. I'm about three-quarters of the way through the next one and it is likely that Book VI will end on the chapter following this next one. There will be a book VII, which will likely be the last in the primary series. I've had some personal issues (death in the family) that have kept me from production these last few weeks, and work issues that have kept me from being as productive as well (insanity in the emergency medical system in California). And, just yesterday, I was diagnosed with Covid again! (My second trip down this road). This is actually a good thing in a way, as I'm off until at least the day after Thanksgiving and will have lots of time to write. Currently, I fell kind of shitty and not able to concentrate on writing, but I'm on the downside of this thing and hoping to finish the latest chapter tomorrow (tonight, actually, as it's after midnight where I'm at). Hang with me and I'll bring this thing home.

Celia joins the tour as they travel along and she has some thoughts of her own. Please make the assumption that when Celia is talking to her parents at the beginning of the chapter, they are talking in Spanish even though the dialogue is written in English. This is a literary technique that keeps the non-Spanish speakers from not knowing what the hell anyone is saying. As always, let me know how I'm doing as we start to move into the final chapters of this book.

This is another chapter that helps set the scene and routine for what happens on the road. Much occurs in this one in the dynamics of relationships and how they will chug along for the rest of the tour. After this, things will likely move along a little faster now that the pace and routine has been established and it will likely change back to the POV of Jake, Laura, and the other main characters. Thank you for your patience and feedback as I explored the dynamic of the band and support members out on the road. And, as always, let me know how I did here. I think I did a good job on this chapter and followed my characterizations well. Am I right?

I would like to thank my Patron Geekstyle for suggesting the concept of this next chapter. I hope I did it justice. This chapter is considerably more politically incorrect than most of my chapters as it involves the dialogue of the tour's security team and how they see the world. I am sorry if anyone is offended by how they talk and label people (though I am not going to change it even if you are). Their opinions are not my own, but rather how their personas would see the world and speak in their circumstances. As always, I appreciate the feedback. Geekstyle's feedback, after all, is what led to how this chapter was written.

No charge for this post as it is not a story chapter. I finished my work rotation early this morning, came home and slept for seven hours, and then got up to start working on the next chapter in the tale. I quickly realized that in order to keep the coming chapters coherent and to avoid continuity errors, I needed to actually figure out every date and location of every performance in the tour. So… I sat my ass down, pulled up a map of North America and a calendar for the year 2000, and then mapped out the entire tour. Took me about 2 hours. This is the template I will use to map out the next few chapters and keep everything on track. Already I can see I’m going to have to retro a few things in earlier chapters such as where they are when Celia meets up with them (Houston instead of Dallas) and how many actual shows there are (72 instead of whatever I first said). I apologize for the inconvenience, but this is how I write and try to maintain a coherent timeline. For those who are interested in how I come up with things, I’m posting a copy of the tour schedule (while reserving the right to change it around if need be later on). I’m sorry if I did not include your city or area. I tried to hit all the majors with the thought that people would be willing to travel to see Jake and the band play.

The Millennial Tour moves on and starts to settle into a routine, including band entertainment. The violinist experiences some seriously crossed wires as they move along. Don't be too hard on Massa. He's young and dumb as we all once were, and his character dictates his actions. As always, let me know how I'm doing. I live for the feedback.
