The last butt print technique was indeed a fail (we didn’t get enough cheek definition, and it still would have required sanding) so we tried 2 more: 1) the original play of loosely putting saran wrap on first, and just sanding off the textured wrinkles, and 2) skip the saran wrap and use extra powder (a LOT) to keep the butt from sticking.

The purple is the loose saran wrap which worked pre...

Well of course the plan for our custom butt stools sounded way too easy to be true. We decided to do some small scale tests of course using tiny circle molds and a 3D printed butt. Well, Evan found a Frog model that was really cheeked up so that’s what we used for the butt

So I’ll outline our series of failures: we poured Razzo into our little mold, covered it with plastic wrap, and squish...

Hey guys… so we might have a little problem. Chunk 2 has a perfect resin seal around the pumpkin, but it cured so slow that he seems to be rotting and creating gas. The gas is pushing out on the resin which is why he was ghostly when we revealed him but spoiler… he is still gassing and the resin is starting to SERIOUSLY bulge out, almost entirely on his back side where the resin is thinnest. We measured the deflection outwards at 0.38"!!!! I think we need to do something about this sooner...

Hey y'all! We need to go sleep for a week but Chunk 1 and Chunk 2 are done and the video is live! In this Aftershow we cover:
- Why we chose to attempt the cube again
- What method we almost went with
- Our agony and indecision on whether to remake Chunk and try for Chunk 2
- What our friends and family thought about Chunk 1
- All the testing we did on the mold that didn’t make it into the video
- Aluminum cube
- Glass + silicone cube

Ever since we first made resin stools 4 years ago, we’ve wanted to make stools that are custom molded to our butts. So we finally decided to make that happen!! To explain our plan for the stools I thought it might be fun to share our plan in the form of an intro we ended up not using. (We even made a powerpoint presentation for the intro!) While it was fun doing a presentation we worried it was just a bit too slow for the beginning of the video.

Hey guys! So after a lot of work essentially starting over from scratch, CHUNK 2 IS IN RESIN i repeat CHUNK 2 IS IN RESIN. We actually got him in there before we left for TwitchCon. We did a bunch of things differently this time around to keep Chunk 2 cooler (lowered the fridge temp, inserted a pre-cured resin column to offset the total resin we needed to use in the big pour, and filled the fridge with water to keep it cooler).
To rewind for a sec, back to the morning after resining Chu...

Before you see the results of our concrete vs Razzo “faux terrazzo” let me just say that one worked SO WELL and one failed SO HARD.

The concrete was so much thicker and chunkier that it had a harder time filling the mold, even with the vibrating table, leading to an uneven distribution of flakes vs concrete around the flakes.

Hey y'all! We are working on a new merch design and can't decide between the "worn" version (where the print looks like it has some wear and tear) and the "clean" version
Below is the "worn" version

Hey y’all. We demolded Chunk, and he looked pretty bad. Like, SO much promise with his clarity and how fresh he still looked (unlike Meatball, who already looked sorta moldy when we demolded him). But the warping of the resin really took a toll on him.

I’d like to point out he’s still SUPER ora...

This video was such chaos haha. In this Aftershow we cover:
- How we ended up with such a crazy idea
- Expectation vs reality for each vibrator
- One idea I had to make the table vibrator work better
- Musings about pressure pot or vacuum chamber
- Comparing concrete to resin
- Why we never used these tools in our past concrete projects
Hope y'all have a great weekend! -K

Hey y’all! Update on our DIY terrazzo attempts! We finished making chips/flakes out of both the concrete and Razzo. The concrete is the more muted one, the Razzo is the brighter one (due to the concrete having a gray base and the Razzo having a white base)

We also got to use our new vibrating table...

Hey y’all! Thanks again for naming Chunk (our resin pumpkin) and Dingus (our control pumpkin). We’ve been filming for that video and having too much fun saying both those names. So we wanted to give y’all a little update on how they’re both doing.
We carved both of them and Dingus has been hanging out in our “time lapse station” aka a cabinet with lighting inside (bonus Meatball and Bean cameo in the photo below, Evan used them as models when he set up the time lapse)

Like we mentioned a few posts ago, we have an idea we wanna tackle that may involve concrete (hence our quest to test concrete vibrators). But we figured before we get to that, why not experiment with ways to spice up concrete a bit… I’m talking about Terrazzo! If you don’t know what terrazzo is, it’s basically cement embedded with chips/flakes of stone or glass.

But it’s traditionall...

Hey y'all! In this Aftershow we cover:
- Why this was a main and not a second
- What surprised us the most
- How these compared to the last round of gadgets
- Will we use any of these in the future?
- What we wished the results were
- Were there any tests we would want to do as follow-up?
Hope everyone has a good weekend! We're gonna be elbow deep in pumpkin... -Katelyn

Thanks everyone for voting on the name for our resin pumpkin! Excited to say the winning choice is Chunk :D Now we have one more pumpkin whose name we'd like you to choose - the control pumpkin that will not be resin'ed! We'll put a couple of the close contender names from last time, as well as a couple new ones. Here he is:

We had so much fun testing resin gadgets last time that we decided to do it again! This might be a little “inside baseball” but instead of doing it on the second channel again, we did it for the main channel. The last “testing resin gadgets” video just outperformed all other second channel videos by so much that we thought maybe that’s a sign the main is a better fit. But who knows! We might post it Friday and it bombs haha. Even though we’ve learned a ton the past 6.5 (!!!) years...

Wow guys - this experimental video has been unexpectedly exciting so far (not to mention a workout!)
We’ve tested all 3 vibrating devices, we’re just waiting to demold the last couple things to do our final evaluation of how well they all removed bubbles. But I can certainly speak on the experience of using each tool!
The vibrating table was pretty much what you’d expect - although we did learn AFTER vibrating for like 5-10 minutes that you’re only supposed to do it for 5-...

Hey guys! I’m not sure how many of y’all might remember, but back in the day we did a decent amount of concrete projects, and we have an idea we wanna tackle (hopefully later this year!) that may involved concrete, but we thought we’d try to first solve one of the biggest issues we always had with concrete: bubbles.

So we’re kinda doing a fusion of “Testing Weird Gadgets” mixed with...

We’re back with another round of small scale tests before we do our big resin pumpkin! This time, we’re tackling another issue we had last year with Meatball: the resin being yellow-y.
Now, when we pour resin in small amounts it’s essentially clear, but when we’re pouring an almost 1ft x 1ft x 1ft cube, any small bit of discoloration compounds. So Meatball’s resin ended up being a bit yellowed.

We wanted to give a special thank you to our patron Tyler Sowers who chatted with Evan about the pressure pot all the way back in 2022! So sorry we couldn’t remember your name in the moment of recording (2022 was a long time ago haha) In this Aftershow we talk about:

- Our panic when materials arrived and weren’t what we expected
- Other materials we bought and never tested
- Why we chose this sword in particu...

Every year we always feel SO rushed doing the pumpkin project, because pumpkins aren’t available around here til the very end of September and we want the video to be out by late October or early November, AND we want sufficient time (ideally multiple weeks) to see if the pumpkin would rot. This year, we had some small scale tests we wanted to do first (I’ll get to those in a sec) so we decided you know what, let’s just do them now but with squash!!

Good news, the silicone molds turned our great! We were about to move onto the final resin pour when we realized we had a few more tests/practice runs we wanted to do. Now, for the flow of the video, we worried this might get repetitive so we weren’t gonna film it at all. Then we realized it might be a fun “mini vlog” to share with you guys! We also wanted to include a few photos of close ups that we didn’t film. So in photo 1, you can see the “horizontal mold” clouds we tried mak...

We did our “injected” resin clouds (by adding opaque white resin to clear blue resin” and while they are more “interpretive” clouds, we actually both really like how they look! So after deciding that we’d move forward with that technique, we started taking apart the sword to make a mold from it. We were expecting it to be solid all the way through, but when we removed the handle, we discovered that A KNIFE HAD BEEN CUT OUT OF IT!

So for the resin sword, we wanted to do an elemental theme (like we did with the Lava Axe) so this time the theme will be… air! We are gonna try to make resin “clouds” and have the sword look like a slice of the sky. But we have a lot of different “cloud” materials to test out (including paper clay, cotton balls, wool, and more!)

For our first couple rounds, we tried cotton balls and...
