Hey all,
I've received word that on July 1st Patreon will be required to collect sales tax on pledges depending on state/country/provincial tax laws of the person pledging.
As I understand it, the amount will depend on whichever state/province/territory you are located in as a patron. It will be added automatically and while I'm still trying to make double-sure that there are things I can do to help mitigate it, its not something that can be helped.
I wanted to give ev...

Another image featuring the gnome, this time with a Lorrnathi companion. Based off of an idea rattling around in my head of them arriving at a lodging near the sea, and the pair watching the storms start to roll in before heading inside.
I'll be a little late this month sending out the next patron sketch notice. Stress kind of hit me really hard in the last week and I'll be honest, It was hard to pull out of it. I've mostly just delved into odd pieces of art to mitigat...

In between inking some of the previous pictures in hopes to get them painted/coloured I hit a bit of a creative 'block' for the last few days. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what I wanted to sketch next, so I went with a few warmups and standard 'standby' kinds of pics I like to do. Namely a general character picture (In this case, a new guy who's name I still don't know) and a nature picture.. Probably featuring a witches home.
I leave these rough. This time...

Another one of those 'bouncing around in my head' images. The aftermath of Delvers encountering an ogre shaman and his henchman.
It gave me a chance to use 'Rudy' again (My model skull) for reference. Still smiling after all these years.
...I'll see myself out.

The patron sketch for April! This one features Suka (as I understand it, a fox/husky hybrid) passing by the shrine to an Elder Stag along the hunting trail.
I was given a fair bit of creative freedom with this one, and wanted to try something a little more primeval. Along the lines of the old stele and shrines one might find in long forgotten deep woods by long forgotten peoples.
And as always, I got to draw a lot of trees and leaves. :)
Stay safe, p...

Cinders and Berrand watching the rains wander through the township. I went with a more 'pencil' line ink for this one, as I don't know it it will be a full painting. I'm tempted to just do an illustration style colour for this one.

I promise not to flood too much of this sort of thing, but I figured I'd share some of the shots of some random builds I've been escaping into using a program called Talespire. This technically falls under the category of posting maps and geographic images of the world, since its a representation of a long ruined (and later re-occupied) keep tucked away in the Eldr Vharrow Reaches, up river of the town of Crowsbury.
While this isn't an endorsement of the program, nor is it a revie...

Trying to get the curving walls right was a bit of a nightmare with perspective. I managed to find a couple tools that helped in the end.

I admit, I'm not entirely sure about this one. But sometimes you just have to call a picture done and move onto the next thing. I was nearly going to restart this one again for the fifth time when sanity caught up with me and I just ended up finishing it to the best of my ability.
I still can't wait for it to stop snowing every other day here. Seriously, I'll take a brown lawn at this point. o.o
Hope you are all safe and healthy.

I'm still plugging away at the painted version of 'The Visit'. I had a bout of creative block that took a while to pass, and this is about the third (or fourth.. I have to check my folders) revision and restart of this. Its slow, but it's getting there. A very, very, very general pass at what the lighting might look like, though with heavy tweaks still needed, but at least this pass doesn't look as wonky and over-saturated as the last one did.
As with most everyone, I'...

I wasn't really a fan of these, but I stick to my rule of not relying on my own judgement on things. Mostly just sketchwork with more primal Lorrnathi warriors.

Well, I guess in this case its not a 'bus' since 'Wroth doesn't have those (yet?). I'm still trying to fight through the creative blah's and ended up sketching a pic of Cinders and Berrand waiting out the rain on one of their visits to Wyclanfaern.
Its another image in the 'might colour this one' category. I can see the sort of moody rainy...

Amidst the din of outright insanity that seems to have gripped common sense I've been a busy bee to say the least.
There's something oddly poetic that bog roll has become the earmark of humanity's panic. That figurative alien archaeologists will find us clinging to rolls of the stuff, great wads of it in our gullets, and probably just move on to more sensible lost civilizations.
But moving beyond that, I've had to work longer hours for sure just to get things squared away fa...

Just a snapshot of the flat colours for the painting this month. I'm quietly dreading the shadows in this one. Figuring out the light that would be filtering through grand branches and leaves above is going to be 'interesting' to say the least, but I really did want to get this one painted.

An image for February's patron on the sketch-list, a badger named Hezz. This will actually be the first time I'd ever drawn a badger, and was given free reign to add markings that interplay with their already distinctive markings. (Lord knows, I like drawing tribal tattoos on everything).
The idea was largely a 'connection' with nature, through a primal bond-perhaps, or just being able to sense the instinctive minds of other creatures. The speech of birds would be utte...

The inks for 'The Visit'. This will be coloured/painted next, and its a fairly intimidating thing to imagine in colour. There will have to be a lot of shadowed areas since the massive tree itself will cast them, giving an almost twilight feel to things. But I like the pair enough to give doing a colour treatment to this a try at least.

Another one of those images where I went a bit overboard on how ambitious it was. I sometimes get ideas that form quickly and desperately need to get down in some form, which is why a lot of my sketchwork is ridiculously rough and scribbly.
This time around I had to use some 3d models to get a sense of size when it comes to things that were going to be in the background opposed to characters in the foreground. Cinders standing only 5'1" tall sometimes makes it hard to figure...

So that flu I picked up seemed to have triggered off 'something' else. I'm still sick, and while I won't go into details on health things, I've had so many appointments with so many doctors and labs this month that I feel like I've barely been home. And its not even over yet. Hooray!
One of the escapes was just doing some sketchwork this week. Just purely random, 'let my scrambling brain babble' type stuff. I guess Hyrahyttia the kobold was on my mind, as s...

To say the last few days from Friday evening have been 'eventful' would be understating it. While I can't really go into detail, I just hope the rest of the year is a more gentle span of time than it has been for folks.
That said, I'd finished this image as the Patron sketch for January on the 31st but some things had come up that diverted me from doing any posts for a bit.
I was asked to draw an equine guy wandering the fields, shamanistic in a sense, and wearing abo...

I finally figured out the next full colour image I wanted to do after finally breaking through a week long creative block of just firing through tons of sketches and trying to kickstart the wheezing hamster in my head.
This one is a little self-serving. Its a character I'm starting up in a friend's D&D game, a Khettish Mage who quickly realized after departing the boat to the large port city that he's not in Kansas anymore. The culture shock of walking into the bay-side ...

I've been having a fair deal of trouble trying to come up with a definitive picture that I've wanted to draw from start to end this month. When I hit the point where I just don't have a spark to draw from, when the embers ghost their existence the moment they become airborne, I tend to just sketch things. Random things. There often isn't a plan, just dropping each image that flashes in my head onto the paper.
I've been doing a lot of these. I'll be posting them a...

Apologies to everyone for going a bit more quiet than usual over the last week. Late on Thursday before heading to bed I felt weirdly 'woozy' and had that 'I know I'm getting sick' feeling.
Friday morning when I woke up it had quickly progressed to the point where I was wildly feverish, and even nearly blacked out while making myself some breakfast, and whatever this alien malaise is, it has dug in with all six claws. I did get a test done in case it was Strep-A but t...

Had a bit of time to sit and sketch out an idea for a character that's been wandering around the edges of my mind. I haven't a clue what her name is, or where she'll fit, but it helped me figure out a bit about what Kobolds represent on Felwroth.
They're a race that's largely 'orphaned' by every other. The Drakharri don't recognize them as even remotely draconic and find it insulting that these 'creatures' claim that they're anything more than 'gnome-sized lizards'. &n...
