Sanguinius vs Ka Bandha - Painting the scenic base

Hey Folks,

Here is the video episode of how to paint the scenic base for our Sanguinus-vs.-Ka Bandha-project.

After starting this project with shorter videos, I have decided to have the whole painting process of the base covered in one, evening-filling, almost 2 hours long video.

A sign of life after the Adepticon!

Hi Folks,

Sorry that it took so long to post a sign of life after the Adepticon!

Sadly I not only brought home a silver demon for my Sanguinius vs Ka`bandha duell, but also a Covid infection – the new Adepti-cron strain.

I was lucky and it was a relatively mild case...

Sanguinius vs. Ka'Bandha- ready for the big trip

Hey Folks,

Tadaaa! That's it. I am happy to present you the finished  Sanguinius vs. Ka'Bandha diorama.

There are still a few details like a little book, with some flying single pages and maybe a little ribbon on our Sanguiniuses spear. That I didn't finish in time! I am really happy to have something finished that I can hand in next weekend at the Golden Demon.

In between, I was really worried about not being able to paint and video record everything.

So yo...

Sanguinius Vs Ka'Bandha - How to build the base

Hey Folks,

here is the video on how I have built the base for our Sanguinius vs. Ka´bandha duell.

We are fusing together all the elements that we have prepared before:

the cathedral-window-backdrop, the ruins from the dragonith kit, our self-made steel enforced concrete, some self-made tiles etc.

The PVC pipe allows us to manipulate the edge of the base on the go,

We can refine it until we are happy with the definition of the edge and change it the more we devel...

what a difference a tone make !

Hey Folks,
Wahoooo.. It is great to see the big influence of an element like the stained glass window.
What color do you like the most?!
I think I will wait until all other elements (the demon and sanguinius) are painted  to choose the color of the window design to see which one has the biggest impact.

Talking about the status of the project.. The base is 95% done.

Ready-to-print stained glass window!

Hey Folks,

as promised, here is the stained window glass design that I have created for our Sanguinius vs. Ka'Bandha duell.

I first cut some clear plastic sheet into shape so it fits in the window frame from the back, this way I minimize the distance to the window and get a more exact outline. After I have traced the outlines of the gothic window on the translucent sheet of plastic card I have used some red paint to fill the outlines. This way you can check against your desk light...

I still plan to weather/crash some of glass.

You can also see the cathedral  is getting some paint!

Hey Folks,

Here is another episode, talking about the "how´s" and the "why´s"... sometimes that leads to a wild mixture, in this video, we will talk about what to keep in mind when you choose a display base/plinth for your contest entry- and also how to make realistic concrete.

We are gathering all the material that we need for our base, next to the premade parts that y...

How to choose a model for the Golden Demon!

Hey Folks,

ready for something a little different?!

All of the videos here on the channel are more or less projects straight out of the box.

As I want to keep the projects as recreatable as possible for you guys out there, we are talking about the various colors, materials, and the interpretation of a model. But we are rarely working on one-of-a-kind projects. Maybe the rattling tank was already breaching out a bit further...

Erynis- chapter 12- painting the ghostly glowing blue hair

Hi Folks,

I am happy to be able to finally release the final chapter of Erynis the grief bearer - from Inu Kingdoms.

This video is focused on painting Erynis blue hair! But we are not going for a normal blue hair, both the concept art and the model suggest, something between hairs and a blazing ghostly blue flame.

I waited till the last moment to introduce the blue hair, I wanted to...

What a start in to December

Hi Folks,

Well... what a month! December didn't start as expected.

And it all culminated in one day, a true Friday the 13th, without it being  Friday or the 13th. After being hit by little flew my right eyelid swole like crazy. And on the same day my wife had a little bike accident, luckily nothing serious happened and she is okay besides a giant bruise on the leg and a little shock that it happened.

My eyelid is all back to good now, but it lasted nine days.

Erynis- chapter 11- painting the flaming sword

Hi Folks,

We are close to the end of an in-depth journey on how to paint Erynis the grief bearer. Today it is time to paint the giant flaming sword, that is Erynis weapon of choice when it comes to hunting the undead.

The Flames on the sword are one of the biggest changes when we compare the finished model with the concept art.

In the concept, the sword is dominated by a subtle blue...

Erynis- chapter 10- painting the demon cat skulls

Hi Folks,

In this chapter, we will paint the bundle of demonic cat skulls that Erynis is holding in her left hand.

The cat skulls are used to visually balance the model. In her right hand, She is wilding here giant, flaming undead-slayer-sword which is naturally quite attention-grabbing. The goal here is to create a bright bone material, that is not overpowering the highlights and the contrast that we have created throughout the model. We are working with a darker base tone ...

Erynis- chapter 9- painting the platemail and the rest of the arm

Hi Folks,

time to wrap up the last missing elements of Erynis!

In this little chapter, we will explore the all little elements on the arm.

We have the plate-chain-mail and the different layers of leather and fabric.

We will see a very diverse use of the loaded brush, this time we are using it to create a super textured NMM- by using the loaded brush for the stippling method.

Alright! I hope you enjoy this video, and thanks for your support!

Erynis- chapter 8- painting the skull shoulder pad

Hi Folks,

can't get enough of that glow?! In this chapter, we are going to paint the fantastically sculpted skull shoulder pad.

The sculpt of the ceremonial skull mask is quite a bit different compared to the rest of the body armor. So I wanted to achieve a slight difference in the material if you compare the two.

I introduced stronger contrast by going up to p...

Erynis- chapter 7- The glowing soul vessel

Hi Folks,

time to get the glow on! We find different sources of OSL and glow throughout the entire model. Those different colored glows represent different ghost energies. The pink glow represents the energy of the souls of the undead Erynis has slain.  She collects the souls in a vessel and they also power her sword and her armor.

The sculpt varies a little from the concept art when...

Erynis- chapter 5- painting the NMM rivets & the purple fabric

Hi Folks,

this is a very short but informative chapter for Erynis - the grief bearer, from Inu Kingdoms. We will jump through the topic of the purple fabric and focus on the small detail of the NMM rivets.

Rivets are something that we find on almost every model that we are painting, whether it´s a space marine, an orc, or a post-apocalyptic car...

rivets are all over the place!

This video shows you how just 3 elements are needed to create a believable nmm reflection....

Erynis- chapter 4- painting the magic key

The paint job on Erynis requires quite a few areas of glow.

From the background story, she is fueled by two different undead or ghostly energies. We have the magic blue glow: the eyes, the key, the hair and we also have the red glow from the soul-vessel, that contains the souls of the slain undead, this energy is also powering her armor, so we find it on the ritual skull shoulder pad and also the sword.
