March 30 - Edge of the Known Universe

This is the last DnB idea for March and it's ... a bit different, haha. The whole song is just several variations of 2 chords and while I really like the essence of what's here, I'm not sure it's enough to carry an entire song. The chord progression itself is really cool - it reminds me of a Final Fantasy song ("Anxiety" from FFVII - a fantastic piece of music) combined with some spacey vibes and I really, really like it.

March 23 - Kinetic (Drum and Bass)

This week I wanted to create something more upbeat and contrasting to a lot of the previous chill ideas. I started with drums and then wrote a few chord ideas. After coming up w/ a decent chord progression, I started on sound design and began adding more layers. At the end of the stream, I put together a basic arrangement for the drop which is what you hear in this version.

I originally wrote this song last May during my foray into piano deep house. I really liked the laid back, reflective vibe on this one and over the last year I've been revisiting the project occasionally to make adjustments and eventually finish it up. This is another deep house song that gives me Blocking the Sky vibes.

March 16 - Afraid of Life

This week we're continuing with writing some drum & bass. I started with drums and then wrote a few chord progressions. After choosing a progression, I added extra layers and some rough arrangement.

March 9 - Introspect

This week, I'm continuing with some DnB ideas. In contrast to last week's song, I wanted to write something a bit more chill and piano-focused. I wrote some chord ideas first and then put together a quick drum groove to get going. Then I added a bass, a subtle arp, pads, and some other background elements. After a basic arrangement I ended up at the version in this post.

This is a song I wrote in January of last year that has gone through many forms. It started out as a deep house idea that I really liked the chords of. I tried several different directions but it just wasn't clicking. Eventually, I settled on Melodic House as a final direction and I'm really happy with how it turned out. This month we're writing some more Drum and Bass! And though I just released Catharsis, it's been awhile (September, in fact) since I've written some DnB ideas. I think this idea is really good! Feb 19 - Indignation

This week I continued writing some intense music. I started out writing a decent progression on strings to get the feel of the chords right and because I'm having fun with synth wave,  I ended up going in that direction again. I spent the last part of the stream developing the idea with more layers and some basic arrangement to come to the idea we have here.

Feb 9 - First Contact (Dark Synthwave)

Welp... I gave chat a choice between Big Room and Synthwave for an intense song this week and they chose for me to try something new. I started out with some drums, then chords/melody, and then some basic sound design & arrangement. After stream I dropped in a few FX layers to round out the idea.

Feb 2 - Decision Paralysis

This month I'm writing some intense/angry music as voted on by you. This idea sits along those lines but isn't exactly overly aggressive. I started off with chords and melody here and then laid down some drum layers. During the arrangement phase, I actually had a crash reset a lot of progress made during the stream. So the drop lead and verse bits were done very quickly in an effort to catch back up and finish the idea.

New Release - Don't Look Down

This song was originally written in April of last year. I did a second session on stream in July and decided to finish the song this month. The drop I originally wrote wasn't working out, so I wrote a new drop based of the intro/verse piano. The piano part was the thing I liked most about the song though, so I think it worked out.

January 26 - Kalm (Chill House)

For the last song idea of January, I polled Twitch chat to see what type of song they'd like to write. Chill house was the popular choice and after writing several different ideas, I chose this one to pursue. I worked on drums first this time around and then moved on to chords. Jan 12 - Spoke (Liquid DnB)

I'm kicking off 2022 with a Drum and Bass idea! It wasn't the direction I had in mind originally, but chat suggested I try it out and it worked pretty well.

Dec 29 - Progressive / Deep (Accumulation)

This is the last song idea of the year and I'm continuing on with the motivational and driving vibes. After some chord ideas and some help from the chat I decided to move forward with the chords you hear in this version and it developed into something progressive and deep but not quite deep house. This gives me Blocking the Sky / Evolve vibes and I'm really digging it.
